But the side effects (which I never ever associated with it - I honestly thought that I had developed anxiety, my son was just an angry, uncontrollable person, and my daughter was anxious and had low self-esteem) were worse than allergies. At one point I was taking a singulair AND a Claritin D every day and I still got pounding sinus headaches and couldn't breathe in the spring and fall. At first though, it DID help with allergies. As time went on (years. Years and years - my daughter and I were on it for 20 years and my son was on it for about 10), it worked less and less and the symptoms got worse and worse.
thanks. I never felt like it helped me a bit -- and I took a daily antihistamine as well. It is rather insulting that a doctor would knowingly put someone on it who is already on antidepressant. I can't wait to bring this up when he asks why I am not taking it.
Good luck. My doctor kind of poo-pood me when I suggested the anxiety was from the singulair. Since I've been off of it (almost 3 years now) I'm also off of my anti-depressant AND I don't even take Claritin any more. I take nothing.
