There’s this one gas station that we pass in the middle of nowhere on the way that has EV charging stations with a line of cars waiting to charge. I work in special hazards fire protection, and I also work closely with the mining industry. In short, my fire suppression systems keep heavy mining equipment from burning up. My job takes me to unusual, tucked away places in Wyoming and Montana, where I get to see the difference between coal mines and paladium and lithium mines. When a coal lease with BLM (Bureau of Land Management, not Black Lives Matter) is ended, the land is remediated and returned to a condition that closely resembles a wildlife preserve or national park. An open pit lithium mine, on the other hand, resembles a crater where a giant meteor hit, and will never look any different afterward, for perpetuity. The real issue with precious metals mining is the tonnage of "overburden" (dirt) that must be dug up and sifted through for each measly pound of product - whether it be platinum, lithium, paladium, whatever. It is an incredibly destructive process that is anything but "earth friendly." We don't see it so we don't care, because the majority of this environmental destruction is primarily happening in China, where they don't GAF, and now, courtesy of the Taliban and the mining contracts they signed with China, Afghanistan. If we all go EV, what do we do with all the gasoline that will still be produced? Gasoline is a byproduct of refining oil for jet fuel and train engines and ship engines. Where will we store all that gasoline? Unless, of course, we're going to make solar powered planes (um, no thanks. i'll drive) or wind powered ships (wait. we've had those for millennia). The best we can do is make hybrids that use gas when it is most efficient to do so and electric when that works better. And damnit! Follow the green plants. Photosynthesis is the only process known to create more energy than it consumes. Somewhere in there is the key to real clean energy.

I work in special hazards fire protection, and I also work closely with the mining industry. In short, my fire suppression systems keep heavy mining equipment from burning up. My job takes me to unusual, tucked away places in Wyoming and Montana, where I get to see the difference between coal mines and paladium and lithium mines. When a coal lease with BLM (Bureau of Land Management, not Black Lives Matter) is ended, the land is remediated and returned to a condition that closely resembles a wildlife preserve or national park. An open pit lithium mine, on the other hand, resembles a crater where a giant meteor hit, and will never look any different afterward, for perpetuity. The real issue with precious metals mining is the tonnage of "overburden" (dirt) that must be dug up and sifted through for each measly pound of product - whether it be platinum, lithium, paladium, whatever. It is an incredibly destructive process that is anything but "earth friendly." We don't see it so we don't care, because the majority of this environmental destruction is primarily happening in China, where they don't GAF, and now, courtesy of the Taliban and the mining contracts they signed with China, Afghanistan. (Hence the sudden rush for the US to withdraw all it's troops, so that the mining of that country's resources could commence right away.)
So just like with everything else, Americans are sheep being led to the slaughter while blissfully ensconced in their luxurious Teslas. The Chinese laugh at our virtue signaling, because they know that the end game is that they will control all of the world's precious minerals and hold them ransom in the not too distant future. In that sense, they will control us economically. It gets even better, though - because EV's are incredibly susceptible and vulnerable to an EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) attack. Of course, we have nothing to worry about, because everyone knows that the threat of an EMP attack is just a crazy conspiracy theory and nobody would really wish to do that kind of harm to America. That would be an act of war, after all, and nobody would *dare* do such a thing to us here in our own homeland. But coming soon is a device that police officers will be able to use to bring EV's to a slow but permanent stop. Of course, that's assuming the driver was ever able to charge the damn thing in the first place, because our existing power grid, which is presently base loaded by natural gas and coal burning power plants, will hardly be able to supply the demand if government mandated sales of EV's go up as projected. As we take away coal and natural gas, and rely more and more on wind and solar, we are headed for an energy shortage in this nation that will leave us crippled and defenseless, and either freezing or roasting in our homes - all by design, and killing our planet all the while in the process. The human race has never been more stupid - cro magnon men were geniuses compared to us. Except for the Chinese, that is. Those yellow devils are very, very crafty and clever..

We've owned (and paid to store, eyeroll) a "deuce and a half" (two and a half ton military vehicle) for decades. My husband used to own an adventure company and he used it for all sorts of things. When our girls were little, their favorite thing in the world was to take a bunch of friends out for ice cream in the "Big Rig" as we called it. (Please picture this huge green loud open-air troop carrier filled with screaming girls. On their birthdays we'd add pink balloons and banners--hand to heart--and drive up and down Santa Barbara's main drag. That was almost always better than whatever the actual birthday party activity was.) We thought about selling it at one point, but now that Armageddon is looming, I am NOT letting that thing go. It can run on literally anything (including vegetable oil and kerosene), plus it's badass looking and could crush any other vehicle on the road NOT THAT I'VE THOUGHT ABOUT THIS. ;)

We have a 2000 Yukon XL with 250k+ miles on her that my husband refuses to sell because he thinks she is easier to repair and harder to control, should it ever come to that. Her name is Bertha, and she is the one that takes us in all our road trips to Colorado that I mentioned in a previous comment.

When you tell people about the environmental havoc they wreak, they’ll pivot to gas savings. Considering the price of electricity and lack of access to chargers — not to mention the premium you pay for the mobile tracking device they call a car, I’m thinkin’ maybe…EVs are a SCAM.
I just renewed the registration on my gas vehicle and noticed there is an annual $200 fee for EV's now.

All of this green crap is subsidized money laundering including electric vehicles, charging stations, windmills, and the fragile solar panels.
Worse yet is that it is subsidized on credit because there is no way in hell (ran and managed by Joe Biden) that taxes can even pay the interest.
The fastest way for someone in a gas powered vehicle to get on their feet is to miss three car payments.

Oh, Jenna. Where do I start? In addition to all the other EV problems you point out, I have not heard or seen anyone answering this question. If we all go EV, what do we do with all the gasoline that will still be produced? Gasoline is a byproduct of refining oil for jet fuel and train engines and ship engines. Where will we store all that gasoline? Unless, of course, we're going to make solar powered planes (um, no thanks. i'll drive) or wind powered ships (wait. we've had those for millennia). The best we can do is make hybrids that use gas when it is most efficient to do so and electric when that works better. And damnit! Follow the green plants. Photosynthesis is the only process known to create more energy than it consumes. Somewhere in there is the key to real clean energy.

My husband was in automotive propane. He had his own shop. He converted everything. Limos, cabs, police cars and all kinds of fleets. Back in the 80s I drove a Chevy Nova (It was my Starsky and Hutch car ;) We've converted everything through the years. Right now its a Hyundai. Usually it's a crappy car (so it doesn't get stolen in Canada's car theft epidemic). Just need room for the tank. This was my husband's business.
