I’m beginning to think we should all look into buying a vehicle manufactured in the 70’s. When the SHTF, those may be the only ones on the road. I’ll bet we see an increase in the prices of all those old cars and trucks.
Wasn’t Kevin Bacon driving an old truck in Leave the World Behind?

We've owned (and paid to store, eyeroll) a "deuce and a half" (two and a half ton military vehicle) for decades. My husband used to own an adventure company and he used it for all sorts of things. When our girls were little, their favorite thing in the world was to take a bunch of friends out for ice cream in the "Big Rig" as we called it. (Please picture this huge green loud open-air troop carrier filled with screaming girls. On their birthdays we'd add pink balloons and banners--hand to heart--and drive up and down Santa Barbara's main drag. That was almost always better than whatever the actual birthday party activity was.) We thought about selling it at one point, but now that Armageddon is looming, I am NOT letting that thing go. It can run on literally anything (including vegetable oil and kerosene), plus it's badass looking and could crush any other vehicle on the road NOT THAT I'VE THOUGHT ABOUT THIS. ;)
I have my old 72 Chevy 4x4 that I parked to save license plate expenses leading to insurance plus a 67 John Deere diesel and a 47 John Deere Gas powered tractor. No computers to zap!
I imagine the highways and cities will one day be impassable with stalled newer electric and gas vehicles. Word of (GROSS)caution might be "Don't eat them vaccinated people!"
We have a 2000 Yukon XL with 250k+ miles on her that my husband refuses to sell because he thinks she is easier to repair and harder to control, should it ever come to that. Her name is Bertha, and she is the one that takes us in all our road trips to Colorado that I mentioned in a previous comment.

Jenna! Very forward thinking on your husband's part!
What a delightful vision. Precious memories that will never leave you.
Yeah - I don't think such things either!
My girls in the Big Rig in 2010--it's a FB link, not sure if it'll open? https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=424895582710&set=a.424894252710
Damn. Won’t open since I’m not on FB. 😢
Emailed you. ;)

You should have never sold that beast!
Oh, we DIDN'T! :)
Good to know - good to know!!!

Haha! My husband has always named his Yukons. His current is Big Blue. It's a 2022, so I'm sure it will be a problem.
Big Blue is an excellent name for a land whale. 🐳😂
Ours is a 1965 Corvette. lol. Won’t hold much, but no computer for them to shut down.
It was used at a wedding once, but hubby won’t let anyone drive it so he drove. The bride had to sit in the groom’s lap. They loved it!
I have a 1979 Oldsmobile Regency 98. It's huge. A gas guzzler. The ride is smooth.
It's much harder to find those 70s cars after Obama's "Cash for Clunkers" program, unless its a restored classic collectable
$$$. They knew what they were doing.
Makes perfect sense now - doesn’t it. 😡
