I at 72 have found it much easier, smarter and saner to not give a single damn about the pretentiousness of those who cannot leave well enough alone. This truly is a well written ode for sanity. Thanks for the fun. 🇺🇸🦅😄SRC1952

As a 70 y.o. woman with a cat, I could NOT agree more! I'm with you 150%!

I don't suppose anyone would ever accuse you of being niggardly with your words.

I reckon all these woke people are just anti-semantic.

I would describe your writing as masterful, but I wouldn't want to offend. Mistressful perhaps?

I would say I'm nonplussed by all of this but that's disrespectful of those who can't add up. And maths is racist anyway.

And I must congratulate you on the way you call an earth moving implement an earth moving implement.

My favourite naughty word is probably field. At some universities the word 'fieldwork' was verboten (nazi connotations - don't use) because black people were made to work in fields and use of this heinous word might upset someone or cause decades of intergenerational trauma requiring an entire DOGE worth of reparations.

VERY clever...

Thanks Doug.

I don't think there were enough Snarkons created during the Big Bang to ever fully capture the lunacy of our modern times.

For a bunch of people absolutely obsessed with colour, amongst other things, these joyless woke clods sure do know how to suck all the colour out of life.

imagine what these folks do when they see a dictionary in a school with the word "steatopygeia" in it.

You beat me to niggardly!

It hurts my brain watching those home improvement shows where they reference the "primary" bedroom!

Are they going to cancel the Seinfeld episode with the contest to remain master of their own domain?

This is the best of the bunch but the whole is a delight.

I was taught in elementary school the phrase "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me". Hard to believe that's not taught anymore.

I have been completely baffled that The White House is still called that. SURELY some eyelash batting congressperson would make a law to BANISH such a supremest name from the most racist country in the galaxy!!!

Addendum: I just turned 60. Not giving a shit - especially over sensitive feelings - is one of the most glorious things about the decade. Sincerely off to a great start!

I'm surprised the Biden admin didn't paint it black to honor BLM.

I seem to recall that the White House was originally a sandstone color, but after the Red Coats burned it (1812 or thereabouts) it was painted white to cover up the scorching.

In between paychecks, I used to experience a lack of money. I would cringe if someone referred to me as "cashless" - it just ripped my heart out every time.

I felt much better when that expression was changed to "person experiencing cashlessness" - it was a needed reminder that on the next payday, I would arise from my lowly, un-person existence and become part of the thriving economy again - until I paid my bills.

One has to wonder if a certain percentage of those people experiencing homelessness are also experiencing cashlessness and joblessness and aimlessness as well. It certainly seems that way in my town.

Expand full comment

But are they experiencing alcohol overuseness or drug overuseness too? We need to cut them ‘the thing that stops your car wheels from spinning’.

Expand full comment

Certainly they seem to be experiencing those overusenesses as well, although I don't see how they can afford it with all the cashlessness they are experiencing...

I was roundly rejected by some flunky assistant at a publishing house because she did not like the way I portrayed a mixed-race character in my novel. She refused to say what she disliked. She just sent me a bunch of links to articles (I never read) that I guess were supposed to teach me how to write more sensitively. Gah! I was writing for a living before Ms. Snooty was a gleam in her momma's eye. We have gone way overboard and that is a tragedy. There are a few words we do need to avoid because of their historical meaning. In such cases, context is king. Words are always used in a context that explains what we mean by the words we choose. But discerning for meaning is impossible online. I am NOT a chabot!

Expand full comment

I think the appropriate response to that person in this scenario would be to say, "well, I do not like the way you are portraying a human character in actual physical existence." : )

Great response!

Your bio sounds interesting; you just gained a new follower so there's that anyway. If I saw Ms. Snooty in person I'd give her a huge boo and hiss!! What is the name of your novel, I'd like to check it out.

My high fantasy series is called Stoneslayer. I'm delighted you are interested. Book One Fallout is on sale at online bookstores as an ebook or a paperback. Book Two Fallout debuts Aug. 5. Ms. Snooty isn't worth the effort of your huge boo and hiss. Save those for the villains in my series. Plenty of 'em.

I just read the synopsis of Book One "Scandal" on Amazon - sounds like a real potboiler, and you got lots of 5 star reviews! Can't wait to read it, supposed to arrive in 2 days. Thank you for letting me know about this - I love to read especially good fiction.

Expand full comment

Hope you enjoy it. Yes, I meant to write Scandal as the title of Book One. I am trying to finish Book Eight and there may well be 24 books in the completed series (four generations of women x six books for each woman). So no doubt I will get titles mixed up many times.

I WANT A T-SHIRT TOO: "I'M NOT A CHABOT!!!" (What's a chabot?)

Expand full comment

A chatbot is a tech persona on the other end of those online real-time exchanges that many companies use instead of allowing their customers to speak to real live people. I have never gotten anything helpful from a chatbot. Utterly useless, in my experience.

Speaking of newfangled and oldfangled words, I was recently on a tour of a public park that was undergoing some renovation, and in mentioning that some homeless people had been camping in a certain spot there, the tour guide stopped himself and said, "I've been told I should not say 'homeless' anymore, that I should say unhoused persons."

I simply raised my eyebrows as he went on with the tour, carefully commenting here and there on the to-ings and fro-ings of the local unhoused persons. I told someone who has some sense (my unvaxxed relative) this story about the homeless people, and her response was, "oh, you mean, vagrants."

Expand full comment

My local newspaper regularly refers to the homeless as "unhoused citizens", without any perceived sense of irony at that unfortunate word combination.

I don't mind these repeats at all. I only found you recently and I enjoyed the hell out of this one. Oops did that offend someone lol. You have the best sense of humor but really this is only funny how you are presenting it with your unique twist. It is annoying to see it and put up with it. It is what the left does to control people. We don't stand for it, we the people of right mind. Thank you once again Jenna. You are a wonderful writer.

But how offensive to those who aren't experiencing those vaginas, like all the trans "women", frigid women, and so on. The hypocrisy would be hysterical if they weren't able to vote, legislate, and even teach.
