***MARCH 2025 UPDATE: I feel as if with RFK Jr. in the White House, we may be a few inches (yards? miles?) closer to regaining that critical trust in those bodies we expect to protect us.
That's EXACTLY the point. Getting the people who were starting to see through the charade and question vaccines (and a whole lot more) to come back into the fold, trust Bobby (he's a good guy! He cares about us) and by extensions, the CDC, and by extension, the government. Is regaining trust in an institution that has betrayed us repeatedly over the decades, far longer than the last 5 years since the Schmovid scamdemic, really a good idea? And if, just if, Bobby does all the wonderful things so many people hope and pray and are counting on him to do, what happens in 4 years or whenever another person is appointed who believes all the nonsense Bobby (supposedly) undid in HIS 4 years? I don't know how long the appointment is, but we've all experienced the whiplash that comes with Dem/Rep pendulum swings every 4-8 years.
And why should we trust instutitions more than our own innate wisdom? Wisdom that has been categorically, systematically, and very successfully beat out of us by another revered institution: public schooling.
