If Roberts and Coney-Barrett side with leftist Justices, it’s clear they are compromised. We will find out.

🌱Nard🙏's avatar

That this is even a conversation is mind bending. In addition to the 14th, there is this little nugget:

Article I, Section 8: The Congress shall have power…to establish a uniform rule of naturalization…

For context, from a friend who is a CONSTITUTIONAL SCHOLAR: “The Framers entrusted Congress with exclusive authority to define how immigrants become citizens. The Naturalization Act of 1790 formalized the process: two years’ residency in the United States, proof of good moral character, and an oath to support the Constitution.”

So…HOW IS THIS EVEN AN ISSUE?? And, KBJ, how is Japan relevant to the conversation? I mean, I love sushi and all, but that doesn’t give me a right to claim Japanese citizenship 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️.

Anthony S Burkett's avatar

What's actually mind-bending is that Congress would rise to the level of Constitutionally mandated performance, perhaps even more mind-bending than KBJ's confirmation to the SCOTUS after she refused to define a woman.

nancylee's avatar

congress has proven repeatedly that its only there for the pension and the mind bending stock picks and bribes. perhaps we should just disband it and hang a few of the more egregious criminals

Dr. Molly Rutherford's avatar

Roberts is definitely compromised. The Obamacare decision exposed that reality

nancylee's avatar

I can think of 2 high profile 'public servants' who are not definitely compromised.

YourGalapagosGullfriend's avatar

Coney-Barrett and Roberts have something in common - adopted children. I'm not knocking adopting children, I'm just pointing out the interesting coincidence.

Pastor Mike's avatar

Did you sends this to the Supreme Court justices for consideration?

Mary H.'s avatar

This is an excellent idea. The “anchor baby” business should be outlawed . It clearly explains the birthright dilemma in terms that even Jackson should understand.

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

It's too complicated for Jackson.

KatWarrior's avatar

Did you actually say that even Jackson should understand?!!!!! Whaaat!????

The Supreme Court judgey (kinda, sort of) who couldn’t/wouldn't define a woman?!

M’kay. Pass the Advil, or crack pipe please. If those aren't handy, a sledgehammer will do the trick.

No offense to you Mary, but Jackson has barely reached midwit status and the wokeness is embedded in the fiber of her very compromised and dimmed out brain! Don't get me started on Roberts or Barrett!

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

My meaning was that she meets the definition of stupid, dumb, unqualified, obtuse, vacuous, thick headed, daft, brainless, idiotic, moronic, imbecilic, cretinous, dense, mindless, snd thick.

Let's throw in gormless while we're at it.

As an expats, living half or more of each year in Mexico, I would like to contribute to the conversation. I was born within 20 minutes of downtown Chicago. I lived, worked, and thrived in the US for 45 years. I still pay taxes there every year, 16 years after leaving.

I know many bi-national Mexican Americans that live full time in Mexico. Some have children actually born in Mexico that still attain US citizenship for their Spanish speaking children. They do this, not only for ease of travel, but for benefits. I know there are quite a few more than 10 million such individuals. They got stimulus Covid money that my wife (100% American) never received. We have US Democrat, multi-millionaire Demoncrat (former friends) that bragged on getting 3 stimulus payments, again, while we got zip.

The system is not only broken, it is rigged to produce an ever expanding class of citizens that will vote predominantly for the party that promises the most free stuff. Not good.

Pray for change. This 14th Amendment is one of least fair laws we can have in our modern, digital nomad era. It is as wrong as paying Fauci the biggest government pension ever while spending additional millions for his limousines and Secret Service detail. Some hills are worth dying one, or at least worth fighting for.

My dos centavos.

Appreciate this perspective! Could not agree more.

Our nation is falling into the abyss by immigration laws staying unenforced and the "anchor baby" grift continuing to give those who are criminals a free pass into our country as citizens. Why would real citizens think this is okay? Judges and Lawmakers are giving our nation to those who do not deserve it, whatsoever, by laws or traditions which bastardize the real meaning of the 14th amendment and by lack of enforcing real immigration laws.

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

In 212AD, the Roman Emperor granted citizenship to all within the empire Roman citizenship (a much prized possession by actual Romans, including St. Paul who used it as protection against Jewish mobs) and the rest, as they say, is history.

LINCOLN LOVER's avatar

LONG TIME AGO! Immigration is being used as a tool to divide and weaken nations, especially in Europe and America and Canada. I think it is better for nations to maintain their integrity and identity/culture as they are, because it is better for unity amongst the citizens. All countries benefit from this. And why wouldn't we all desire this as compared to an homogenized world of no distinctions of nationalities. But it has been weaponized and in America the citizens are paying for it in numerous bad ways.

To be honest, Chinese schools are probably not much different from our public schools. The indoctrination in our public schools is alarming. My youngest son graduates (God willing) this year, and it has been a complete nightmare, especially recently. They close schools to do online learning for 1/10th an inch of snow or the threat of a tornado. The teachers are offended by everything, which is unfortunate for my son with his lack of impulse control and dark sense of humor (he was raised by a doctor and a cop). In hindsight maybe we should not have let our kids watch Mel Brooks movies at a young age (oops). They have zero tolerance for any mistakes by a white boy while allowing blue haired confused nerds to protest ICE during school hours. Please young parents, do not send your kids to public schools.

Trump is going to lose this one, and we have already lost the country. It was cool to have a brief period of hope, but he killed the coalition by failing to hold anyone accountable and by starting a war.

The good news? Christ died for us on this day, and Sunday is coming. He is risen.

John Wright's avatar

The USA seems to have changed since I was a child (and in school).

Frontera Lupita's avatar

Oh it has changed a lot, the public “re-education” system.

John Wright's avatar

😢

I feel like I had a good education in the 1960s and 70s, until I went to college. College was pretty useless from an education point of view and a massive waste of money.

Frontera Lupita's avatar

I was in school in the 50’s and 60’s in a smaller agricultural community in SoCA.

I enjoyed it. We had music education in elementary school, and I learned Spanish in elementary, junior high and high school, as well as animal husbandry in high school. (Though that teacher was pretty much of a dim wit.)

And college at a local Community College in the early 70’s was good as well. I learned a lot, had a lot of fun! But that was up in NoCA in Santa Cruz, CA.

I would never send any child I know today (friends or family) to a public school today. No bueno!

DDForTruth's avatar

"Trump is going to lose this one, and we have already lost the country."

WHAT??

"he killed the coalition by failing to hold anyone accountable and by starting a war."

WHAT???

1. Lost the country to whom and when exactly did this occur, because as far as I can see, the the Constitutional Republic of America is becoming mightier by the day and at every level there is, to the point of everyone wanting to BE it!

2. You mean holding people accountable in the same courts that have perfected and used "mostly peaceful LAWFARE" against the actual laws and Constitution of those that do not comply with their ideology and/or tactics to solidify that ideology, AND award those that do?

*thinks of the Judge literally helping the illegal immigrant escape out the damn back door

*thinks of Tina Peters being thrown in the klink for actually reporting, with proof, election interference

*thinks of the Judge who let the illegal out the damn doors AFTER being convicted so he can go on to torture and rape an innocent 5 year old

*thinks of all the J6ers, some who weren't even IN that city, being caged up like terrorists

*thinks of ALL the lawfare they put President Trump through, his family, General Flynn, and anyone and everyone who supported him

+++

PERHAPS the Judiciary needs to cleansed of swamp creatures and activist judges BEFORE holding those to account can be done lawfully, legally, and FULLY.

3. President Trump did NOT start a war. He is ending a 47 year long one, as well as already ending 8 others!! With more to come on the horizon, SOON. Ukraine. Taiwan.

4. To date, do tell of ONE thing that President Trump has lost. And bring receipts. And no, I ain't gonna wait, for it is a futile endeavor and I gots better things ta do.

5. Your last line: CORRECT. "HE IS RISEN." Glory Halleluiah, for GOD already won!! And as it is with God, so it is with Trump (on a smaller scale of course), to wit we are all watching how it's all being played out so there can be be NO confusion on ANY of the matters.

Happy Easter, and may you and yours be blessed indeed.

Dr. Molly Rutherford's avatar

Thanks for your perspective. I don’t see Trump correcting many injustices. He has never admitted that Warp Speed was a disaster and that people were killed and harmed by that vaccine. Therefore, I do not see him as our Republic’s savior.

DDForTruth's avatar

Thank you for responding. It is greatly appreciated.

DDForTruth's avatar

Time will tell, it always does.

Warp Speed was about MORE than the vaxx death jab that [THEY] wanted to implement on a world wide scale, AFTER [they] implemented all the things that divided the masses, causing untold harms, especially on OUR CHILDREN.

The RUSH is what saved hundreds of millions because that RUSH caused these batches to be shipped /made/contained/stored at inadequate levels, thus rendering them mute or less than.

President Trump said many times to try alternatives like Ivermectin, DMSO, Dr. Zelenko's Protocol, Hydrachloriquine, etc.

MSM were the ones who said "President Trump told us all to drink bleach!" "President Trump wants us all to take horse paste!"

Don't forget, it was THE PEOPLE who were DEMANDING the vaxx because of the constant deployment of FEAR and DEATH used by the WHO, MSM, Big Pharma, the corrupt health care Fauci, Birx, Colbert, etc.

The vaxx was coming no matter what.

Full Stop.

Warp Speed lessened the damage.

This WILL all come out as the plannedemic hasn't even been addressed yet.

Also, Freedom of Choice plays a factor. For those who were adamant in demanding it, and stupidly continue to take it, have CHOSEN it.

In President Trump's Agenda 47, drug dealers will be dealt with swiftly. ALL drug dealers.

Dr, Molly. He was NOT able to take away the freedom of choice from The People.

They were DEMANDING it!!

He WAS able to lessen the damage because the shots did NOT hold the lethality that [they] wanted.

Did some BAD batches escape into the public?

Obviously.

Could it have been worse? As in WAY worse?

Yes indeed, it could have!!

What would have happened if he had halted the very thing being demanded?

President Trump is only one man.

LOOK at the SYSTEM OF SYSTEMS he has been fighting against and tell me how YOU would have done it to save the many??

Everything is NEVER black and white.

To treat it as such is naïve.

As we ALL know, there are always (they say 3, but I say way more) sides to a story, and unless and until ALL of these sides are made public, bias abounds.

I VERY MUCH appreciate where you are coming from.

I LOVE you for it. It means your heart is YUGE and that you've taken your Oath seriously - To First, Do No Harm.

The TRUTH will out, it always does.

Until then, sometimes walking in another's shoes clarifies a few things. At least on the surface level.

GO MAHA!!

*Tips hat

MUCH Love

"In hindsight maybe we should not have let our kids watch Mel Brooks movies at a young age (oops)."

Is there an age where a kid should be allowed to watch Blazing Saddles? Yeah, most likely. 😁 BUT, whether or not Brooks would admit this, those shrieking AWFL harpies trying to indoctrinate your son are the reason that Mel Brooks made his comedies to begin with. Mockery is one of the most effective forms of tearing down authoritarians.

Yesterday (April 2) was the precise date in history when Jesus was arrested, which means that today and Sunday are also the precise dates and days of the week) for the crucifixion and resurrection! This doesn't happen often!

Scottman's avatar

This is very clear. The 14th amendment did not give automatic citizenship to anyone born here. It was passed after the Civil War in order to give citizenship to freed slaves. (The 14th amendment did not give citizenship to any native Americans. They got citizenship in the 20th century through a law passed by Congress). The guys who actually wrote the 14th amendment discussed who was actually able to get citizenship. If you read their discussions, which are on the federal record, You will see that they clearly describe the two criteria are that you have to be: 1) domiciled in America as a permanent resident and 2) you have to be subject to the jurisdiction of the USA, which means That you have allegiance to the United States of America. This in the discussions at the time was very clear To them that this was only for those who had no citizenship in other countries. Slaves had no other country of allegiance so therefore they could be citizens. Native Americans had allegiance to their own tribes therefore they were not allowed to be citizens.

All of this is a problem because politically we have completely ignored what the 14th amendment actually says. You would think that the Supreme Court would listen to the guys who actually wrote the 14th amendment seeing as they do have their conversations recorded for posterity.

If you want a deep dive into this subject then look up the Attorney Andrew Branca show on YouTube, and he's done a number of wonderful deep dives on this. He even read the whole discussions from the 1800s in Congress. It's shocking we are even having to debate this. Tourist birthright citizenship is clearly not covered!

Karen Bandy's avatar

Clarence Thomas is bringing up this exact argument.

Maureen's avatar

I hope SCOTUS sides with the obviously correct decision that being born here does not automatically grant you citizenship. I also await the legal contortions of Justice Jackson’s dissent.

Tim Pallies's avatar

Or we confuse Jackson into silence. Someone ask her again, "What is a woman?"

I can't believe she even got through Law school, let alone got confirmed as a Supreme Court Justice.

It’s a reflection of the capture of our higher education - two pronged: 1) DEI and 2) promotion of marxists theories.

No wonder the CCP is so engrained in our colleges and citizenry

Thank you for correcting the "less" versus "fewer" stupid laws. As an ex-English teacher that drives me nuts and constantly reminds me how ignorant we are!

And a great article as usual.

🌱Nard🙏's avatar

Right? It was my first thought…

Jenna, you need to inform all newscasters in America. Makes my skin crawl…same with “I” and “me.” The education system has failed miserably.

Laura Kasner's avatar

How about “went” and “gone”.

If I hear, I should “have went” one more time….

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

Or "I seen".

Laura Kasner's avatar

That one too!

MaryAnn's avatar

Laura—that one touches a nerve with me every time.😬

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

Throw in "lie" and "lay," too.

Roberta Stack's avatar

Yes!

Maureen's avatar

I looked at that and thought it could be totally correct to say less and not mean fewer.

Jenna McCarthy's avatar

If we’re being precise, grammatically it should be “fewer stupid laws,” because laws are countable. But if we're being generous, you could read it as “less stupid laws”—as in, the laws themselves would be less stupid (which I can also get behind).

John Wright's avatar

I vote for "less AND fewer". 😇

Tim Pallies's avatar

Sounds exhausting! Do you at least get to stop at full retirement age?

Karen Bandy's avatar

So and so ‘had’ their house broken into? What, did they pay someone to do it?

Yes, less and fewer drives me nuts too.

Born in Venezuela, guess what? I was still classified as an American with an American passport, because MY PARENTS WERE AMERICANS!

Heather B's avatar

Totally with you on this one. And to add to the ridiculousness of the citizenship question, I have the opposite problem. I was born in Japan in a US Army hospital while both my parents were Army officers. Yet I have had to prove my USA citizenship for my entire life. And now I'm having to do it again to get a driver's license. And no way in Hell would I be able to be a Japanese citizen despite being born there. I wrote about the duality of our citizenship laws here: https://blissandblisters.substack.com/p/immigration-tangles

Jenna McCarthy's avatar

That’s just crazy talk🤦‍♀️

John Wright's avatar

That's what we do around here! We are a wonderful collection of "crazy". 😇

Roberta Stack's avatar

“Birth tourism” I had no idea that it was a thing. I’m for at least one parent being a citizen in order for the child to be a citizen. My neighbor’s daughter and son-in-law moved to Germany 6 years ago and are now applying for citizenship and have to jump through hoops, have jobs, and make a certain amount of money to qualify. Once they become citizens, any child would become a German citizen, but not until then. Makes sense to me.

I so hear you on this topic , soooo unfair and corrupt. Here’s another angle with anchor babies … no prenatal care and they walk in as a “no doctor on staff” putting everyone at risk especially when you end up with a congenital anomaly ect … The hospital back bills for Medicaid … more of our taxes , hard at work . It’s just not sustainable .
