Kittens should be worried! It's absolutely wonderful to "meet" Sasha! Thank you for spotlighting her.
I absolutely love the hand crafted items! We need more of that in this mass produced world of garbage. It would be great to do a photo shoot to highlight some of those one of a kind items!
I just took a peek at Sasha's website! Awesome! Very professional, absolutely beautiful!
Your daughter and I have a lot in common. When I was a HS senior I decided I was not going to spend my weekends at some dumb waitress or checkout job, and started making fringed suede leather bags, hair accessories, belt pouches.vests, (1969- when fringed everything was all the rage!)I kept track of how much I spent on supplies, how long it took to create each type of item, and was my own sales force. It taught me a lot! And I ended up using the time I would have wasted to make money so I could spend weekends having fun. I also sewed most of my school and church going wardrobe. One creative act leads to another! Shine on!
I have a couple of prom dresses mom saved. One was a turquoise velvet floor length A line dress where I quilted about 8 inches of the bottom hem area. I used it in my vintage clothing fashion shows I did for a time, as by then I had a large collection of clothing from 1939 to the 80s. Hats, gloves, jewelry, handbags, poodle skirts, real granny dresses and fringe vest, etc. My favorite era were the exquisite 40s ladies suits. Very few I could actually wear along with the velvet prom dress. I started my show with my mother’s 1939 prom dress and ended it with a hilarious “Polyester Parade” . lol. Once at a church show, women members who still had their wedding gowns walked the catwalk accompanying a younger woman who fit it. It was fun but stressful to find gals to wear everything. I did have a fun guy who wore his brown polyester leisure suit which had survived a house fire. Of course it did. 🤣
Much of my sewing since around 4th grade through high school was done on a treadle machine. Including my wedding gown as a very young bride and bathing suits. It was the only way I could have fashionable clothing. Dad gave me sewing money without crabbing too much. I rarely sew now. Where do home seamstresses get fabric with Jo Ann fabrics gone. I have found ordering fabric online no fun at all. I bought probably 40 yards of Oshkosh by Gosh heavy denim ticking—the stripes—at a yard sale in the 90s once. $9.00 for the whole shebang. It was useful right side or reverse so I made drapes, vests, covered sofas with pins and glue stick, pillows, stuffed animals, bags, more curtains. I still have some left. Paired with vintage fabrics and trims, it looked so cool.
Wow— that is so cool. I would love to experiment more with fringe. I made one bag with fringe detailing from an old leather jacket — love how it turned out!
Sasha! You are a gem 💎. It’s a pleasure to meet you! Thank your mum and dad for conceiving such a bright light into our crazy, chaotic, and beautiful world.
I got a rare glimpse of you about a year ago, but now the kaleidoscope is in full view and the world is a little bit brighter with an accessory of glitter.
I am a pretty simple female who loathes tacky, carbon copy shite, so being introduced to your handcrafted masterpieces is a God send!
I have a thing about old fashioned handmade, handcrafted and useful things. Call me old fashioned!
I will be looking at all your goodies and sure to invest.
These things that you create are an investment for me. One of kind pieces that reflect and speak loudly!
I couldn’t say she’s absolutely the cutest, because that honor goes to my daughter lol. Also a model. And also with an incredible voice. And what made me chuckle out loud this morning was that we both bought YSL bags together this weekend. So I’m definitely checking out your daughter’s website! This was a fabulous spotlight. Thanks so much for sharing. I hope you and your family had an exceptional Thanksgiving! Your daughter is a gem. Just like her mama.
Little things like this post are one of the reasons I’m addicted to Substack. Jenna you are one lucky lady!
@sashachill - my wife has been in search of the perfect bag for way too long. I know since I’m the one who does the returns which last count was 6 just this year (two last week!). So I’m sending your store link and maybe it will help me and her out. Could be just what the doctor ordered for her Christmas present.
"My daughters are truly two of the warmest, brightest, bravest, kindest, funniest, most generous and talented humans I have ever met—you can ask anyone who’s ever met them."
I'm sure those quality qualities had nothing to do with who raised them Jenna... 😉
Well done to you both. 🫶
PS: Sasha darling girl: You have single handedly re-inspired this crafty old bohemian crone into getting her ancient sewing machine checked out, hauling down my stacked-to-ceiling bins of recycled antique jewelry, fabrics, belts, buttons, bits n sots, and opening an Etsy "upcycled" shop.
PSS: Have you ever thought about upcycling cowboy boots? Looks like you have a machine which can handle it. Me? Not.
Well Done Jenna, You should be proud. I am too of my own. My 26 yr old daughter spent 4 yrs as a crane operator, mobile and tower. Then went a different direction to be a massage therapist. My next daughter 24, is a 6.5 yr veteran Red Seal tower crane operator. And my favorite son, thats what I call him, is a 22 yr old 5 plus yr Red Seal tower crane operator. All different, all wonderful in their own ways.
Oops. Did not see the “All of the above”. Count me in. Otherwise, considering my feed, kittens SHOULD be worrying. Congrats for raising and sending into the world such an awesome child. Hugs and kisses for both of you!! There is hope in the world. I have a daughter too. Extremely self sufficient and a super mom. She’s going through menopause now—how time flies. ❤️
Sasha is the most put-together 20 year old I’ve ever seen! Absolutely gorgeous and very talented. Next please do a story on the cats pictured on Sasha’s website 😻
Talk about a proud mama bear! This is so absolutely precious. This is proof that there is a greatness gene lol. That and obviously being awesome parents. Thanks for the beautiful substack subscriber spotlight!
Love these words of wisdom, Sasha! “What you carry should make your life easier, not heavier.” Whether it’s bags [wink-wink], friendships, habits, or expectations—keep what supports you, and let go of what doesn’t. - and thanks for providing the morning laugh since I normally get at least one from your Mama - about the sitting on the bed thing - I get it!
Totally adorable! Checked out her stores too, really talented. I already followed her on Instagram for a while. She kinda sounds like you in print. You must be so proud!

Thanks John! She did every bit of that on her own, I simply could not be more proud!
No help from Mom? Nice! It's really, really nice when our children are independent! I take it as a sign of competent parenting!

And I swear I did not write one word of that! She is an incredibly talented writer though, she writes spectacular poetry as well 😊💕
This shows us what a loving supportive mom looks like. Well done, sweet lady
