Im trying to reform. I’ve spent time casting my eyes over stuff left on the curb. Yard sales, etc. But need to do the curb strategy myself. Hubby keeps buying stuff. We’re 77 and 79 respectively. Our daughter visits and I see the panic in her eyes. House too big. Yard too big. Garage too big. All mine is dumpster ready but hubs has expensive habits.

I am a loooong time yard sale buff. In fact,I used to have a resale store, actual store, where i resold stuff. It was fun. I feel rather noble not buying any new stuff. It’s all junk these days anyway. Unless you want to spend 600$ for a GOOD cashmere sweater, the best are at garage sales..at least in my stupidly wealthy county…but,my son says I’m borderline hoarder! Not true. I just have a lot of cool, unusual things…he might be right about the shoes/ boots..I can not resist..

I have to attend a wedding this weekend. I haven’t attended a single formal affair in almost 20 years. I’m 65 lbs lighter these days and my closet is full of three-decades old size 6s and plus-size wear. I had absolutely nothing that fit. I was willing to spend top dollar for something elegant and timeless so went dress shopping. I was disgusted by what you get for $400-$600 per dress, and how poorly tailored it is. Nothing fit well at all. In the end, out of desperation to have SOMETHING tasteful, I went into a small resale shop that looked cluttered and dumpy. I was blown away by finding TWO beautiful cocktail dresses that fit my perpetually pregnant figure like a glove and hiding my upper gut while accentuating the thinness of the rest of my body …. And each dress was … drumroll please … $9.99 each. 😳 And they look beautiful. Stunning. Timeless and classy. Not a single new dress in any big name store I went to fit like these did.

I argue that they don't want even want socialism ("Too moderate!"), but communism ("Something with real teeth!"). They want "en-forced equal outcomes", but of course also always with an extra unequal heaping helping for themselves, who after all are the 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘲𝘶𝘢 𝘯𝘰𝘯 overseers and enforcers of equality.

NO.

SCRATCH THAT. Not "communists." I don't know what I was thinking...

No one can improve on George Orwell who knew their ilk and described them best. Let's call them what he named them: for us, let "the Party formerly known as 'Democrat' henceforth be referred to as '𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝗴𝘀.'"

Trumpers owe a lot, if not all, to Mr. Orwell for leaving behind the prophesy that helped identify what would be happening.

Mark my words: 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙖 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙂𝙚𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙚 𝙊𝙧𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙡--𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙐.𝙎. 𝘾𝙖𝙥𝙞𝙩𝙤𝙡 𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜. (And it should be crowd-funded by lovers of freedom.) In fact, a statute of Mr. Orwell in the atrium of the UN would be a nice touch/reminder...

The NK signs have replaced the Black Lives Matter, Love is Love, We Stand with Ukraine signs that have been ubiquitous these past few years and many of them look professionally done.

I have come to the conclusion that NONE of these demonstrations are organic or in response to a surge of real outrage on the part of the populace. You can see it in the NYC mayoral campaign where Hamas Mamdani has been cheated into the lead for that race.

As long as the Trump Admin is going after Antifa, it's long past time to go after the Soros gang and that ilk. Time for the Ring Master who sits in the White House to put down the jackals snapping at his ankles once and for all. (metaphorically speaking of course.)

I have a client who is in IT at the IRS, naturalized citizen from Pakistan, Muslim. I’ve massaged her monthly for at least 5 years, so we’re friends at this point. Every time I see her now she tells me how horrible it is at work, how morale is low and people are just getting laid off with no notice.

We’ve never discussed politics per se, but she did tell me Kamala’s acceptance speech at the DNC was ‘inspiring’ and she talks about listening to npr so I know where she stands.

Anyway, she’s always talking about how no one knows what to do because of all the firings and how unfair it is. So my response is (hey, she brings it up…) that she knows the federal government has been tremendously bloated, she’s worked in private enterprise before and knows how layoffs work, it’s been needed for years. Yesterday she actually said ‘but they’re laying off the people who audit the really rich people’ as if that were a problem! I told her taking high taxes from all the rich people in the country wouldn’t solve our problems, the federal government is way too bloated and I was glad someone was finally working to make it smaller.

She backed off, she always does. Which is kind of cool, tbh.

Anyway, it’s interesting to me when she comes in. Thought y’all might appreciate the snapshot. Also, I don’t discuss politics with my clients as a rule, but some of them bring it up and I’m not going to agree with them when they’re just wrong. I’m not a jerk, but geez.

I’ve worked in both private business and government. Back in I think was the early 90’s, we were told no raises and 10% cut in pay. I elected to go government. Employees in both sectors tend to be lazy. I do not feel sorry for any of them so I was being sarcastic by saying “poor” folks. I have a decent retirement from The Metropolitan Water District of So. California - a quasi government agency. I’ve paid my dues .

If the 1st one was about protesting ICE then this one must be about protesting ending the war in Gaza, angry about not knowing what to do with all of those keffiyeh scarfs and Palestinian flags.

I was asked via unsolicited text messages to provide housing and pizza for college students attending the NK Part II. I declined. Instead, I'll be doing about four loads of laundry, cooking sweet potatoes, and driving around town with my "Winsome Earle-Sears for Governor" bumper sticker. Fantastic article, Jenna!

It is amazing how they get your number. I get texts from the Dems and Dem leaning causes all the time. I “left” that political party over 14 years ago!

Yes, I wish!!! I keep getting new ones, even after letting them know my opinion and then sending "Stop" to try to end them.

You also need to block them. That’s when I really started clearing them out.

that's SO annoying. I was on a few of those (from my former liberal progressive days) and they DID respect the "STOP" - that sucks. Guess at least you get to see the underbelly of their planning! Not that it does you any good, lol.
