If it's going to be MAGA v America First, I'm America First. I appreciate what Trump has done on the border and also his work in eliminating the toxic DEI poison from our culture., but beyond that I am pretty disappointed with the direction things are going. The neocons have co-opted the MAGA movement and taken the edge off of it. Israel, for some unknown reason (oh wait...we all know why) has undue influence over our country and we need to break free, stop sending money to faraway lands and concentrate on making this country great again. As for MTG...isn't this what the founding fathers envisaged? Ordinary folk coming into politics for a while, then leaving and going back to their ordinary lives, rather than hanging around into their 80's, clinging to power so they can give good stock tips to their husbands?
One thing I noticed about Trump lately is that he is not spending time taking his case to the American people, posts on Truth notwithstanding. I know he doesn't like to show his hand to let the left get out in front of the narrative, but he needs to be selling his overall vision of the country. I thought he would be a spokesperson for capitalism. For American grit and ingenuity. For entrepreneurship and getting government out of the way for innovation and growth. Instead he is selling foreigners coming in and 'investing in America'. What about Americans investing in America? How about encouraging young people to start businesses, learn a trade, acquire skills that are actually in demand?! All in he is a damn sight better than Kamala would have been, but we have to get messaging and positivity on track if we don't want to be bludgeoned in the mid terms. And saying Mamdani has some 'good ideas' isn't it.
I’m with you on this. I’m also concerned that if neocons and Israel are able to co-op MAGA why wouldn’t they co-op America First?
This has been my concern all along. Yes, a few things changed… MAHA, for the win! But we’re still deep in debt, high inflation, low wages, losing middle class and in toooo many wars.
Too many wars? Trump has been peacemaker on about half a dozen. Now Russia Ukraine war may be ending, peace talks are ongoing. Unprecedented. I’ve admired MTG’s courage to speak out on several issues. I bet a book deal announcement is coming soon. A tell all? It’ll be an interesting book tour if so. She definitely has plans, obviously only she knows. Politicians lie all the time about their future political plans, so I wouldn’t rule out 2028. She didn’t like not getting support to run for a Senate seat in Georgia, being told she couldn’t win. She’s walking away with a pretty good pension ( only need to serve 5 years to qualify). And she’s much wealthier after her service, walking away millions of $ richer than when she entered politics - I think she made the top 10 congressional list along with Pelosi in handily beating the stock market. She could have finished her term, worked hard for the party in the midterms but she obviously has bigger plans for herself.
Yes too many. Ukraine has gone on way too long… and great that they MIGHT be ending. I pray they do - but ongoing costly Israel, Yemen, and now we’re poking and threatening Iran, Venezuela. I’m America first.
You are just as brainwashed as all the people who took the coof shot. A Fox news parrot? Why call it the Dept of War if you want peace?
This isn't a Hollywood movie (another source of brainwashing), we aren't the 'good guys'. Our politicians, federal bureaucracy and oligarch donors (they all went to university together) are ruthless destroyers and will do anything for money and power. Grow up. It's about power, control and money.
He wants the worthless Nobel because Obama got it for doing nothing. He is ensuring his family will be richer than ever before....
The founders surely didn't intend for elected officials to abandon their seats on a whim halfway through a term. She signed up for the responsibility. From her first term, she knew politics is brutal, getting bills to the table is difficult, and change doesn't happen quickly. Trump's administration has actually moved lightning fast compared to past administrations (excluding the pandemic response nightmare). I agree that Trump needs to back away from Israel.
I agree with the lightning speed and all the rest, except the Israel part. I have to believe that we don’t know more than maybe 1/10 of the story there, and I hope we stick by their side through thick and thin. Sure, correct Bibi here and there as needed but stay the course until the dust settles. Hamas and Palestine never are satisfied with being given an inch. Their ultimate goal is and always has been, to take the whole enchilada, (the whole falafel?) wiping out Israel altogether. We need to realize this has been a fact since bible times.
To begin to understand this extremely complex subject, people need a whole lot more of an education than a miniseries made by an extreme pro-Israel source. I like Dennis Prager, but this is a massive blind spot for him. Instead of relying on one source, I've read, attended conferences, and listened to a variety of people with different viewpoints, so please don't assume I'm uneducated since my opinion is different than yours. One of the most impactful speeches I've attended was by Professor John Mearsheimer at the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity conference in 2024, in which he discussed nationalism. I found a transcript and will highlight some of his insights:
"The most powerful political ideology on the planet is nationalism… a remarkably powerful force. It’s very hard for Americans to understand this… It basically says the world is divided into nations. The highest social group that we identify with is the nation. Sam Huntington talked about the ‘clash of civilians’. Civilians are not the highest social unit that people will really identify with in a meaningful way: it’s the nation. And what nations want is their own state… think about the concept of a nation-state… that’s nationalism. It has nationalism embedded."
"And the problem that you face is that nationalism has deeply embedded in it the concept of self-determination: ‘we’re sovereign’. And nation-states do not like the idea of other nation states coming into their territory and doing social engineering. You know how exercised Americans get when there’s talk about the Russians interfering in our elections? [laughter]…this is American nationalism at play. Countries around the world… they don’t want us doing social engineering… can you imagine us allowing someone doing social engineering inside the borders of the United States?"
"The Palestinians want their own state. They view themselves as a nation, as in they want their own state."
"The Israelis long thought they could use a big stick, they call it the iron wall, to beat the Palestinians into submission to get the Palestinians to accept that it is a Jewish state, that Israeli Jews run the place, and that Palestinians are third class citizens. They have been unable to win with that policy. And what happened on October 7th is just the latest manifestation of Palestinian resistance – which is another way of saying Palestinian nationalism."
Looking through this lens of Nationalism as revealed by Mearsheimer, it is easy for me to see that Isreal will need to either accept Palestine as an equal state and Palestinians as deserving of the respect afforded to the people of all other nations, or completely annihilate them. It reveals a lot about Israel that they're against the former. Any nation that prefers annihilation and subjugation is not one which we should be supporting monetarily (tax-payer) or militarily. Individuals are free to donate their own money. This is why I'm not in agreement with Trump's support of Israel. Can you honestly say you wouldn't fight with all you have until your dying breath if China invaded here and tried to force us all to be third class Chinese citizens? Or Russia, Iran, or any other nation? I know I would; and I know that fighting back would brand me a terrorist and vermin to be exterminated. If you'd like to see Mearsheimer's full speech, here it is:
If God said He gave us all of the USA, and the USA was the apple of His eye, I’d fight like hell. If God said He intended for the USA to eventually become China, I wouldn’t fight.
I too have listened to several people and delved deeply into this.
Jonathan Cahn, Dennis Prager, and I recently read a book called EYE on ISRAEL or EYE to EYE, by Daniel Koenig. More importantly, I’ve been a student of the bible for decades. The thing is, this trouble in Israel was foretold, and the end has been written. It’s so specific. It even says, “a nation which was, and was not and was again.” Is take is the only nation that was, then got wiped out, then became a nation again.
Palestine doesn’t win.
God gave Israel that land. god isn’t delighted with much of what Israel is doing at the moment, but God adores Israel, specifically, Jerusalem.
Then God can fund it. Atrocities commited in the name of a God are still atrocities. There are more interpretations of God's word than the one you hold, and the formation of modern Israel had nothing to do with God's will. Let me ask this; if the Bible said Nazis were God's chosen, would you be okay with what the Nazi's did?
If God wants to fund it, He will. If He wants someone else to fund it, He’ll bless them for having done so.
Modern Israel is just that— modern ISRAEL. Everything, every single tiny thing has to do with God’s will, one way or the other, especially concerning Israel.
The Nazi question is a good question. I would not be ok with what the Nazi’s did, even if they were God’s chosen people. God wouldn’t even be ok with what the Nazi’s did.
That’s all the more reason we should step back, realize that what we hear or read from the media— any media at all, may just not be true, it may be true to a small extent, but not in the sum total.
How did the Nazi’s work the people into a lather about how heinous the jews supposedly were? People who had been their schoolmates and friends? Their neighbors or tailors or watchmakers? They told everyone they were diseased, dirty and rat-like, vermin of the worst kind. And that they were greedy cheats. That was the start.
Overnight, SOME Germans began to believe that someone who looked clean, smelled fine yesterday, was vermin. They had not cheated them, yet it was easy for them to believe they were cheaters.
Perhaps the media or _____ fill in the blank, has said Israel has committed atrocities. And even though they were at a concert— a liberal movement of some sort, celebrating their holiday, and the enemy bombed THEM, killing innocent men, women and children, not the other way around, SOME people have been made to believe that Israel is at fault, that they have committed the real atrocities here.
Hamas is a terrorist organization. Israel
shields children— with soldiers. Hamas shields soldiers with children. The media was forced to admit the stories of the starving children DID have a fat mama, and a chubby brother standing there. The child had some disease that made him super thin. The rest of the family pictured was THiCK. It was clearly propaganda. Why use propaganda? To cause people to question the reality of what is happening. To gaslight them. To coerce them to come to their side.
It’s exactly the same as saying jews are filthy. They looked cleaned and pressed, and smelled good, but propaganda just works— on some people. We have to see through it. We have to stop and say, “They never cheated me!? They smell like Tide.” We have to stop and say, “They bombed Israel. Israel simply retaliated.”
When it’s all said and done, I would rather be the family who HID Anne Frank and her family and friends in their attic. I don’t want to be one of the ones who are forced to say, “Yes, we fell for it. We somehow bought into the propaganda that they were the bad guys. We sat and watched them be shoved onto trains to their death, thinking it was somehow ok.”
Dennis dod a fabulous letter to Candace. I kept it. I’ll try to link it here.
Daniel Koenig wrote an excellent book on this subject that he gives to every president. It’s an older book, but it lays it out as though it were quite current.
MAGA, as in the president, seems to have some goals that many of the America-first crowd don't agree with (waffling on H1B, Israel, warmongering, etc.).
So, we might be witnessing the Great Schism of the GOP.
If we have any hope of saving this country, we need to put its health first, not blindly worshipping a false idol as our savior.
Trump isn’t waffling on H1B. He’s the only one who has done anything abt it since its inception. He’s put a huge number on it— I forget what number, but it’s already corrected it more than anyone prior. It needs a little more time to simmer.
"stop sending money to faraway lands and concentrate on making this country great again. As for MTG...isn't this what the founding fathers envisaged?"
Something is a bit backwards, yes?
Instead of spending all our tax $$ sending bombs overseas to create potholes, I much prefer we use those badly needed $$ to fix some our own back home.
I agree! Why are we so obsessed with funding them, arming them, appeasing them as they murder children and generally taking orders from them. It’s almost as if they control us. Mind-boggling indeed.
I agree, we shouldn't send money to Israel! Or any country overseas. The 4 billion a year we fund/waste on them doesn't seem to justify the obsession. Nor does whatever's going on in Gaza unless you have family or connections there. That's what boggles the mind.
Dan McCarthy, Ordinary folks coming into politics for awhile do not resign a full year before their term is up or live off a taxpayer pension for the remainder of their life.
So you don’t mind the rest of that nest of vipers living off a taxpayer pension for the remainder of their lives? Just MTG. And just because she had the audacity to stick up for her principles. Her taxpayer pension is a p*ss in the ocean compared to the many billions we are printing (borrowing) annually to send to the likes of Israel.
Ahhhh - so you’re upset with the extortionate lifetime pension arrangements of ALL 535 Congress men and women. Good to know. And of course the $4bn pa that we borrow to send to Israel, only to see them invest in US treasuries which costs us even more. And all the other leeches that are too many in number to name here. You’re like a mini reincarnation of DOGE, Jennifer, crusading against all this waste.
Nobody is "living" off a congressional pension! Marjorie should get about $8,700 per year when she reaches age 62. That is peanuts! That is basically what my pension will be from a *normal* job!
I am still MAGA and I think MTG is amazing. America First, the Freedom Caucus - I am all in and I believe she is correct that the Political Industrial Machine is destroying this country. Too many in Congress are there for the long haul (not supposed to be a career), are bought and paid by PAC's, have gotten rich on the taxpayers back under laws that do not apply to thems that are part of those Oh, So Hallowed Halls. If I pulled what that shithole Nancy Pelosi did (worth over $220 million now?) I would be rotting in prison. So go MTG, more power to you and I hope you succeed in your future endeavours.
Since she’s waiting until early January for her resignation to kick in, she gets to access her sizable pension. She’s also worth a lot more than she was just s few years ago, which leads me to think she made use of the Pelosi Method of personal enrichment.
I disagree. Sure she wasn't an idiot and didn't foolishly throw away her pension, but that's not even close to getting "rich". Pelosi was downright criminal. There is nothing criminal about what Marjorie Greene has done regarding collecting the pension.
As for insider stock trading... Washington DC is full of criminals! Arrest 99% of Congress. Let's start fresh!
Maybe you're right, but we will eventually learn the truth. Her riches sure turned up only since she entered Congress. Makes me wonder.....as we all should.
I believe so but that does not mean it passed or will. Cause that is like asking the fox to vote whether it can raid the henhouse. But, It is not like she didn't fight while she was in congress. How many sit back and say a few words but are just Big Nothing Burgers. She contributed. We had the same thing happen in Canada. Our communist party leader lost the election so badly, his party didn't even have a seat at the table. he refused to resign until jan 2025 because he was then vested for life.
Certainly it's been discussed. I don't see a simple solution. Say you have $100 million dollars in stocks, then you get elected, independent of your position in office you realize (expect) the stock market to tank so you want to cash out. But some law prevents you from doing any trades??? So you lose a fortune?
They have to think hard about how to implement this, like perhaps only prohibiting *buying* new stock while in office?
It starts with having a viable alternative. We have to stop voting for the major candidates, start electing the fringe candidates. When the Democrats and Republicans start losing their candidates, they might be motivated to put forth a candidate that we'd actually *want* to vote for. In the meantime we need to vote for the "nobodies".
Could be. I don't know and haven't read about her being complicit in that, she probably has done some maybe, I do not know.
GABAI says this: Based on financial disclosures and recent reporting, Marjorie Taylor Greene's net worth has increased significantly since she entered Congress.
When she entered Congress in January 2021, estimates placed her net worth at approximately **$700,000**. This figure is based on her financial disclosures from that period.
As of late 2025, her net worth is estimated to be around **$25 million**. This represents a substantial increase during her time in office.
The primary driver of her wealth is her 50% ownership stake in Taylor Commercial, Inc., her family's construction business, which is valued between $5 million and $25 million. Additional sources include an active stock portfolio (estimated at over $3 million), book royalties from her memoir "MTG" (which earned her $178,229 in 2024), and her congressional salary of $174,000 per year.
This financial growth has attracted scrutiny, though Greene maintains that her wealth was built through her business ventures prior to entering politics and is managed by a financial advisor.
I don't believe her net worth was $700K, that is what she had in the bank or in her home. No way Jose.......nit picking....and jealousy. Let her be. She at least 'worked for America and her state'. SHEESH PEOPLE.
She did work for America and I still love her! I think we need more of her to come and work for 8 years and then get the hell out, and hell yeah, let her get her retirement from the gubment. If they are gonna give it away to illegal aliens, social security and every kind of welfare the country offers - paid for by our (legal citizen's, but I repeat myself, haha) tax dollars. it is all monopoly money anymore anyway.
This will not be a popular comment but, IMO, MTG has a dark side. Her resignation on January 5th is 2 days after her lifetime pension from Congress kicks in. Her personal net worth has skyrocketed from $750,000 entering Congress) to $24,000,000. She rightly criticizes Congress for selling out for personal gain but, does the same thing. MTG is either positioning for a Presidential run or to cash in as an anti Trump paid celebrity. Or both. Either way $24,000,000, will be skyrocketing, to the next level. I think Trump has made recent some faux pas but, he is America’s best option to defeat those who seek our destruction.
She doesn’t have the right character to be president. I agree with Jeff Childers: she’s a firebrand who helped make the Trump revolution possible but whose temperament is no longer useful.
She doesn’t have the ability to be president IMHO, but you’re right, I think. My bet is that she’ll make a living being an anti-Trump Republican. Liz Cheney part deux...yawn.
My problem is her refusal to stick to her commitment by serving out her term, thereby NOT punishing the party with an already slim majority. Fine, don’t run again in the primary but at least finish what you started. I was taught at an early age that when you start something you finish it. When you commit to something your commitment is a reflection of how good your word is. No matter how hard it is you honor a commitment to the end and then simply get out when it’s over. It is a reflection of her true character that she isn’t doing that and that she is fine with sticking it to ALL of us in the most painful way, robbing us of her vote.
There wasn’t just two choices like she is making it sound. It wasn’t either she quits now or gets roasted in the primary. There WERE other choices to honor her commitment and protect us while standing by her “principles”.
Does that mean I’m not thankful for her fight and voice in the past? No. I am on some things. I’m deeply thankful for her fight about Covid. But other things I feel she was deeply wrong about. (Immigration to name just one.) And I’m disappointed in the true colors she just showed when it came time to sacrifice her own “political”comfort for the sake of We the People who she made a commitment to, and simply put her head down and finish out her term for us. And she knows this, which is why her “I’m quitting” letter was four pages long.
Perhaps because she has used the opportunity for personal gain, she knows exactly how the corrupt system works. We need representatives that will not only call this out, but actually do something to stop it!
MTG is a savvy businessperson. She likely learned all about the Congressional Grift Game. The temptation to resist it takes extreme moral fortitude and or not needing the money.
As was the case with Trump, the dems would have dove headlong into her finances to "get her" as she has always been outspoken against them. They woulda searched high and low for even the sniff of dirt, and then blared it out as if it was THE THING to focus on, almost forever, cuz Trump.
Also, does she not own a construction company?
Also too, just wondering where the bona fide actual and literal proof is that proves she has these cool millions. Been 'hearing it through the grapevine' as well, but that remains speculation until the receipts prove it.
I also find it interesting that every time there is a spat twixt Trump and 'someone' who obviously supported him, the jackals on both sides of the aisle seize the opportunity to come out from under their cockroach dwelling to 'make the most of it,' only to be left standing there holding their own ass wondering what the hell happened and where did the actual curve ball come from.
If one is draining the swamp, one must bring out the swamp creatures from wherever they may be lurking. Tis easy to spot the ones that are brightly colored with venom spewing forth from their forked tongue pie holes. It's the ones with their crisp clean linens of finely dressed lies that are being lured out...IMO.
Remember all those who flocked, with giant funding cheques in hand, out from behind their brown and withered cesspool dark water swamp plant roots to DeSantis?
Formerly known as DeSanctimonious?
Good times.
Way I figure it, when the Ch(i)ef is cooking, may be well advised not to critique the dish served, until it is actually served. Garnish and everything.
"The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can “throw the rascals out” at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy." --Carroll Quigley, Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Time
Or simply put by a grade schooler on the playground:
The right is red, the left is blue, it doesn't matter the color when they're all screwing you.
Harsh comparison. Most kindergartners are sweet, amusing, and innocent little cherubs, no? I opt for labeling DC pols as obnoxious middle schoolers instead …
The little ones are merely finding their voices (yes, I’ve heard them) but the older ones have weaponized theirs. Sadly, most pols are poster children of the latter group. ;-)
We need disagreement! We need our politicians to engage in productive discourse and not just vote party lines and ram through more harmful legislation. Blind worship serves nobody!
Yes! It's idiotic to think that any one person is going to have all the best ideas and be 100% good. Everyone needs someone to question them, to point out the contradictions.
Honestly I’m not sure. MAGA and America first 🤔 please explain the difference. I agree we need to stop sending money to faraway lands, but I will always believe President Trump knows exactly what he’s doing. The art of the deal. Just look at the way he treated the Communist mayor elect.
It’s a beautiful thing when people have the liberty and courage to be able to voice differing opinions within their own community. That leads to evolution via thoughtful discourse. Now compare that to the Team Blue behavior mono block, which breeds no independent, charismatic leaders.
A marketplace of ideas beats a central planning committee.
"The pundit class has prophesized the End of the GOP more often than doomsday preppers predict the collapse of society . . ." This is unquestionably some good snark. Bravo! (Brava?) It kind of glosses over the fact though, that the preppers have actually been right enough that I wish I had listened.
Between the breakdown in civil society, the mysteriously funded attempts at a color revolution, the rampant inflation and the surging price of gold, they clearly were not all wrong.
Breakdown is a process, not a single event. We are a lot like frogs in the slowly warming pot.
Being a quitter doesn’t exactly make her number one on my hit parade of up and comers in the party. Who wants a quitter in the President position? What if Trump had been a quitter when the rest of the world went after him hammer and tong?
Nah, this is her biggest mistake since trying to rain on Trump’s parade. She’s toast. TAW
I don't see her as a quitter at all. This move stuck a dagger in the heart of all the corruption bringing attention to the fact that no matter who is elected, Washington is a cesspool of corrupt criminals.
John I agree with you about that, but it’s also a little bit precious to think that in the course of one year, that can be turned around. It’s been going on for a century. She would look better to stand and fight not tuck tail and run. Rand Paul hangs in and fights, why couldn’t she? I don’t know the answer to that, but she looks weak or without conviction by running— after collecting her considerable pension. She could refuse it if she had real conviction about corruption in WA. OR BETTER YET, stay and fight to get that repealed.
Not much will be accomplished in one year, that's for sure. At best I see good politicians as slowing the corruption and growth of the government.
Repeal what? The pension? Sure I don't think politicians should get a pension, being a politician should not be a career!
I don't see her has tucking tail and running. Quite the opposite. She has been elected three times now. Serving three terms is more than enough for a politician. Time for her to move on to doing something different (managing all the wealth she has accumulated so far? Working in the family construction business again?). Perhaps becoming someone more like Charlie Kirk and going around giving speeches and talking to common people?
Perhaps returning and winning an election stronger than ever by defying Trump?
But it’s not three terms, is it? She didn’t fully serve this one out. I have a strong conviction about honoring your commitments as a core principle of one’s character. She could have and should have announced she was leaving but would finish out her term. She could still just as easily brought attention to the corruption without quitting. She definitely tucked tail and showed me she is only as good as her word, and her word is worthless since she doesn’t honor her commitments, which are controlled by her emotions. In the end what’s best for her personally mattered way more to her than what was best for our party.
No she could have still grabbed headlines with a temper tantrum. That’s what she was already doing before she quit. It just didn’t work and the base got angry with her since she chose to do it with the left. Again, she could have kept going and saying what she was already saying and filled out her term.
Instead it’s a woman scorned ordeal. Women are the meanest people to fight with. (Yeah I’m a woman too and that’s what I’ve always hated about other women - the spitefulness.) Many are not diplomatic and go overboard and make sure it hurts anyone in their path.
There ARE ways to make the issues heard without robbing our party of her vote. Have your fights all you want publicly if you must to get them heard, just don’t quit with a slim majority.
But, all the issues she brought up in her video speech and her letter were ALREADY widely known. She didn’t expose anything new.
I can relate to the war over the dog poop-LOL. I didn't have a dog and my neighbor's dog pooped on my lawn every single day. Her dog wore an invisible fence collar and when I suggested that the collar might be out of batteries because the dog was on my lawn every day she laughed. I bought some poop bags and picked up after her dog every day and left the bags at the end of her driveway. She's lucky I didn't leave them in her mailbox! LOL
I’m surprised you left out the response of Texas congresswoman Jasmine Crockett who can’t wait to welcome her into the TDS club. I guess it’s the enemy of my enemy is my friend code.
If it's going to be MAGA v America First, I'm America First. Yes too many. Ukraine has gone on way too long… and great that they MIGHT be ending. I pray they do - but ongoing costly Israel, Yemen, and now we’re poking and threatening Iran, Venezuela. I’m America first.

KC&the Sunshine, excellent comment, thank you.
You may want to check out the Prager miniseries about Israel to learn more about why America and Israel are what they are.

Great comment.
What warmongering?
Like Obama.
Wait, what? MTG resigned because of Israel? The obsession with Israel boggles the mind.
Did anywhere in my comment did I specify only MTG? Nor did I mention Israel. Go troll elsewhere.
The fact that this occurs so commonly should be a wake up call and a spotlight on the corruption.
Absolutely agree! Didn't someone in the House file a bill recently that would bar sitting members from stock trading? Or did I make that up?
I believe so but that does not mean it passed or will. Cause that is like asking the fox to vote whether it can raid the henhouse. But, It is not like she didn't fight while she was in congress. How many sit back and say a few words but are just Big Nothing Burgers. She contributed. We had the same thing happen in Canada. Our communist party leader lost the election so badly, his party didn't even have a seat at the table. he refused to resign until jan 2025 because he was then vested for life.
Mary Ann Caton, Chip Roy(R) introduced the Restore Trust In Congress Act. It has gone nowhere as of yet near as I can tell.
Certainly it's been discussed. I don't see a simple solution. Say you have $100 million dollars in stocks, then you get elected, independent of your position in office you realize (expect) the stock market to tank so you want to cash out. But some law prevents you from doing any trades??? So you lose a fortune?
They have to think hard about how to implement this, like perhaps only prohibiting *buying* new stock while in office?
it is but they are the swamp people and they will never legislate themselves out of all of their "perks"
That's why they "all" need to be voted out. Start fresh, start with a "mandate" that the people will not tolerate corrupt politicians getting rich.
I call bullshit. She was a very successful business woman, who can speak, think and gather.......sound like a bunch of jealous a-holes as usual.
It starts with voting them out of office. We can't elect them and then complain about their behavior
Yes!
Precisely! MTG is an appendage with huge voice. A follower isn’t a leader. Leaders are not made or molded.
She is a shill.
Now,a very rich schill…
Good point! That shite has to come to an end. Insider trading is illegal for 99.99% of the population. Nuff said!
MTG could have taken a more common sense approach. Make her points but, if they are rejected she should just“ Agree to Disagree”.
I left a similar comment above, but without the numbers. Thank you for filling in the details. 🥰
Humans are awfully good at convincing themselves that they "need the money" even when they already have more than they know what to do with!
I'm sure her first two terms taught her the Congressional Grift Game very well.
If Trump is allowed to have tantrums, doesn't it make sense that others should be allowed to have tantrums too?
More evidence our government is composed of kindergarten children. {grin}
Harsh comparison. Most kindergartners are sweet, amusing, and innocent little cherubs, no? I opt for labeling DC pols as obnoxious middle schoolers instead …
Hmm... have you ever seen a kindergartener have a meltdown when a parent takes their ice cream away in an ice cream store?
But yes... I can see the middle school teen years reference where you add in the backstabbing and sneaky behavior.
The little ones are merely finding their voices (yes, I’ve heard them) but the older ones have weaponized theirs. Sadly, most pols are poster children of the latter group. ;-)
"Find"? Well, uh, yes, loud and clear!
Forget nuclear disarmament, we need political disarmament.
Throw in that much of MAGA attempts to bury MTG when she disagrees with the president.
There's a lot of blind worship of Trump, and that is not good for the party and making America great.
We need disagreement! We need our politicians to engage in productive discourse and not just vote party lines and ram through more harmful legislation. Blind worship serves nobody!
100%.
Well-reasoned, mature debate is legitimate.
Amazing how people fall for this 100% good/100% bad narrative - it's the prime indication that we're being propagandized.
Yes! It's idiotic to think that any one person is going to have all the best ideas and be 100% good. Everyone needs someone to question them, to point out the contradictions.
😊 love “congress as an assisted living facility “ I wonder who is going to use the pooper scooper! 💩
But that wouldn't have been a headline grabbing temper tantrum.
If she tucked her tail and finished out her third term would she have accomplished anything? This way she at least focused attention on the problems.
In the 2016 primary, Trump called all his opponents names.
'Little Marco' is now Trump's Secretary of State.
Members of Congress should not be allowed to raise campaign funds while in session. It is a game they play all year.
LOL
😂😂😂
"the public is being perpetually lied to by paid propagandists, and Congress shouldn’t be a lifelong career or an assisted living facility."
If I'd only known how expensive assisted living care was going to be for my parents, I would have signed them up for political office a long time ago.
She's lucky you used bags!!
And didn't use her mailbox.
ROFL
I'm a considerate neighbor, LOL.
Your way was definitely more conducive to keeping peace in the neighborhood and maybe, just maybe, even having coffee with her sometime in the future.
My way, not so much!! There'd a been shit flyin' everywhere, so to speak!!
Hahahahaha
MTG is acting like a spoiled child.
The grass is always Greene(r) on the other side. {grin}
I’m surprised you left out the response of Texas congresswoman Jasmine Crockett who can’t wait to welcome her into the TDS club. I guess it’s the enemy of my enemy is my friend code.
Although, MTG said she still thinks Trump is doing good things. She doesn't want to destroy MAGA or Trump. Crockett doesn't understand the right.
