In 2024 I met a guy my age (70’s) and dated him for about 16 months. We both lived in CA on opposite ends of the state. On our first date, which happened to be the day DJT was “convicted” on his NY court case, he started ragging about Trump. (I should have given that first ‘red flag’ a bit more attention but I didn’t.) I respectfully asked him to not talk about Trump, that we were having a good time together getting to know each other, so let’s not spoil our time together. Basically as long as there was no talk about DJT, we got along quite well and had a lot of fun together.
He managed to honor my request about no Trump trash talk for a few months but when Trump was back in the headlines about some BS thing or another he had to bring it up. I reminded him of our agreement, he wasn’t really into hearing that. So fast forward, his TDS became a more chronic case, then he took up with the No Kings crowd and I could no longer stay quiet. I basically told him all the problems I had with his thinking and that it would be the downfall of our relationship. He called me a “Trumper, right winger”. Of which I am neither, never voted for Trump, am not a right winger whatsoever, and am a non partisan/decline to state voter (for over 16 years). He didn’t like what I had to say about his distorted and narrow views so he basically blocked me and poof I was out of his life. No apologies, no excuses for his behaviors with me. Nada.
It’s not that easy. Not only am I not a lefty liberal, I am also an anti modern medicine sickcare system and all the ‘shots’ that they say people should get! I don’t want to be the nursemaid to an older sick guy just to have someone in my life!
Yes it was a shame, because he was fun and liked to do things, go on trips, go out to dinner, watch sunsets etc. But his TDS seriously got in the way for me wanting to show the love to him any longer. He was the opposite of my long term “partner” of 24 years that I had left, who didn’t want to do any of that.

Public education was not implemented until the poor Irish showed up, threatening to re-interpret the status quo and now everybody's "schooled," not well, but "uniformly."
These days, I think, "It's also how you learned to think."
We home-schooled too, all six, after seeing what the first two were subjected to in P.S. Not to give them anything more classical, or the like, but simply to keep them OUT of that stagnant pool. They learned what culture they have from "us." Not peers. And not ideologues. It helped that the kindergarten teacher of the younger of the two in school "reported" him as a "mouth-breather" to "researchers" at a P.U. (public university) PAYING the school for that information. (He's still a mouth-breather. But as a civil engineer with a structural engineering cert, and nine of his own home-schooling children. He's always had allergies. His sister, the older one of those two, has 12 home-schooling children.) What goes unnoticed and unmentioned is how the anti-American, anti-family screeds quietly motivated large families who are already voting "Oh, Hail NO!" in their hundreds of thousands.

They also are on a plethora of prescription meds, and not at all “healthy”. I’m talking about older guys on both sides of the political aisle!
