They say democrats don’t understand basic economics. I think they do.
I think their major failure isn’t math, but logic, as in they can’t draw lines.
You and I can see that the rising cost of energy (gasoline/diesel, or having to use solar and wind vs coal and natural gas) has a price effect on everything we buy. Dems can’t.
They can’t draw the line from cause to effect.
They can clearly see that paying Joe $50k/yr is better for Joe than paying Joe $22k/yr, but they can’t draw that line to the concept that if Joe represents the little guy, on whose back the economy turns, everything that Joe just paid $3 for, he’s now paying $10 for, completely negating his raise.
They can’t draw that line. They can’t logic just as hard as they can’t meme.
I lack both the time and expertise to run the numbers but it would be interesting to see how fast food value meals track with the minimum wage. Out here in Washington State where they're trying to legalize taking rich peoples' wealth "just because" the minimum wage is over $20/hour in some places. Value meals are now in the $15/each range at the major chains which is basically the take home hourly rate. I don't think it's coincidence. Many who advocate for a higher minimum wage will find out that the true minimum wage is ZERO.
Those of us who are hard-working, productive, and have made our labor more valuable by acquiring skills and knowledge and therefore earn above minimum wage and whose wages are not determined by political fiat resent having our labor devalued to gain votes. We need to demonstrate this at the ballot box.
Or you can suffice with the AI summary that is about as useful as anything Kamala ever said.
“Fast food prices often increase following minimum wage hikes as businesses may pass on the higher labor costs to customers. This can lead to significant price increases, sometimes exceeding the rate of general inflation.”
I maintain the wage is not the issue. There are people who will not work regardless of the pay. The ‘minimum wage’ job duties are not worth giving up the bennies of being on the dole. As minimum wage rises, prices rise, welfare rises. Why work?
@MaryAnn- send the illegals home, fill those jobs with welfare cheats. If they do something to sabotage the job (to lose it to go back on benefits), they lose all future benefits.
Kitty—I understand where you are going with this. The problem I see is one cannot make a person want to work. ‘Welfare cheats’ are not good employees imo because they are entitled/used to getting free stuff and cannot be motivated to care about working. I am seeing it in retail where they must work 20 hrs/month to qualify for benefits. They do the bare minimum to keep the job.
I understand your point, but,I think Maryann has a good point. I’m betting a lot of these free loaders simply have not been put in a “either-or” situation … it would be very satisfying to see implemented,to me…
NYC is about to face that missing section of the bridge, drive right over the edge, then ask the rest of us to throw them a lifeline and bail them out one more time…. because they really did try, and even tried harder… but just couldn’t get to the other side… the land of kumbaya and abundance
This seems correct. I think it stems from the liberal belief that the government can and should solve every issue, therefore spending more money on a problem means they’re solving it. Doesn’t work out in reality? Definitely not their policies, it’s the gazillionaires.
Spending more money is meant as an ostentatious show that "government cares." But of course, it doesn't because it can't. Rather, government spending is a concrete example of the one of Murphy's Laws that asserts that "there is no problem so bad that it cannot be made worse."
Capitalism solves problems because there is, to borrow from MK's analogy, a direct line between "problem-solving" and wealth generation.
I say again, public schooling is failing our citizens. How would America be different if high school graduates "saw opportunities EVERYWHERE!" I'd like to see a nationwide poll of what they DO see.
My dad is 94 and has always been the voice of practicality and reason for me, and I remember when I was young, going to a very liberal college, he would tell me that everyone behaves to better themselves, and they’ll better other people if they can make a profit. Private businesses exist solely to make a profit.
How about this cause...a bioweapon in every arm. The effect....death or injury and the collapse of the mddle class. Effect...everyone votes for common sense. Cause...Democrat stupidity and corruption.
And consider that overwhelmingly it was liberals who “trusted the science” and took the poison, so it is liberals who overwhelmingly make up the excess deaths that have doctors so baffled, lol.
The costs have gone up while the minimum wage has not.
That is no reason to not raise minimum wage because costs might go up.
Certain areas already have higher wages. Washington is in the $20/hr range.
There is more than just meals. There is cost of rent/buying a home, gas, electricity, etc. Some of those are not governed by minimum wage.
Much of the costs are based on what people are willing to pay. Rent goes up because some people are willing to combine families or have both couples working multiple jobs. That is the level of misery that the costs stay at. Everything has a designed shortage that keeps costs high. Overcrowded cities could take back reasonable costs if people would move out all at once.
Yes, I was referring to the notes included after the lyrics that it’s a Springsteen-written song - and Bruce commented on the whole deuce / douche thing lol
No wonder I could never memorize those lyrics. I just sang it like this: “mumble mumble mumble WRAPPED UP LIKE A DEUCHE YOU KNOW THE RUMOR IN THE NIGHT… and mumble mumble mumble LITTLE EARLY WIRLY mumble mumble SEEING IF ITS SAFE OUTSIDE mumble mumble mumble LIKE A RUMOR IN THE NIGHT…”
And yes, the capitalized words capture how loud we belted out the words we thought we knew. 🤣🤣
And to think as I've grown older and had cataracts removed, I'm blinded by the light not the song but (LED headlights) every time I drive at night. I haven't crashed yet but one of these days when I literally can't see anything in the road.
And you want me to keep voting? When do the people get their country that was promised about 250 years ago? As of yet, it still belongs to a tyrannical and human hating government.
I'm not seeing that. The founders "never promised us a rose garden." They set up a system they believed ~ought~ to be able to preserve liberty--with "eternal vigilance [being] the price of liberty." Looking over the last four administrations "eternal vigilance" of the voters was not particularly evident, and I think we've got the government our "napping" has warranted. We ~could~ take it back--and we are better poised to do that now than several years ago--BUT I don't think we the people have the taste for the work involved, which involves "activism." "Let George do it, and I'll approve or complain about it." Only one opinion.
This is just like when B#den promised Student Loan Forgiveness and everyone who had debt slobbered on themselves thinking it would happen if he was elected. (Look Ma! No Student Loan Debt!) "Hold the fort, Charlie!" The Executive Branch cannot do that unless CONGRESS Approves. The "uninformed" really believed the Pres could do it. They must have been sleeping in Civics Class. Or they believe their Fairy Godmother was B#den and the Democrapts.
And I will stop asking, "How dumb can the Democrats get?" It's a challenge I don't want them to take because they will take a lot of "sheeple" with them.
They don't teach Civics anymore. Or Western Civ, or American History, or Econ, or Home Ec, or even basic Reading, Writing, & 'Rithmatic.
I watched a "Here's Johnny" segment on Watter's World, wherein Johnny asked people at the beach questions about America's founding. One young lady answered all the questions correctly. All the rest... not a correct answer amongst them.
I remember Rush saying, back when Obama was elected, that America would survive Obama, but what she couldn't survive were low-information voters. And voila, here we are.
Getting rid of the witch Randi & her subjects would be a step in the right direction to actually provide our children with knowledge & learning rather than brainwashing & grooming them with perverse lies.
St. Alia, huh? If "How ya Dune, sis?" decodes into something recognizable, then this short comedy clip from yesteryear should be amusing. If this isn't the first comment to make the connection, sorry, but like the Borg would say, resisting was futile. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHRgKVN7v74
Actually...It worked for some. I did NOT vote for Biden, and I didn't hear about the student loan debt relief program until some time after he'd been in office. When they said "Sign up for this," I thought, why not? Democrats will. I was surprised to find, many months later, a check in the mail with a letter. The letter stated that our (son's) school loan of $27,000 had been forgiven, and the check of about $5,000 was a repayment of the money I'd continued to pay while Biden had frozen the loan repayment program during Covid. I figured I'd keep paying while ALL the money would go toward paying down the principle. Wasn't the "forgiveness" supposed to be up to $10,000? It paid more than that for us Anyway, shortly after that, it was determined that the program was not approved. I expected for almost a year to find the loan reinstated, but it never was.
Huh, our son’s was $9,000. They sent a forgiveness letter. Then later, without sending a notice OR bills, they sent him a default letter - a threatening one. Our other son had more than $10,000, and they forgave the 10k portion, but then they added that 10k back and he had to add it to his consolidation loan.
Guess we were in the unlucky bucket. It all depends which agent desk your account lands on.
Same for our daughter’s loan. Her last payment was sent back with a letter informing her of a 0 balance. She had paid it down to around ten grand I believe.
So. I gave you credit in my FB parody post “The Impossible Dream” I wish I could attach it, it’s the two paragraphs encapsulating and perfectly summarizing your whole great column today. I wish I could include a screen shot. “BUT WAIT - there’s more!” Laughed my fanny off! 🤣🤣🤣

According to Alexander Tytler’s cycle of a democracy, it takes spiritually to have the courage for liberty. I think Alexander Tytler’s cycle of democracy, where dependency is the last stage of a democracy is very accurate. It makes sense because once people are dependent on the government, they are well…dependent on the government for everything. The government that gives you everything is the government that can take it all away.
It falls in line with what Alexis de Tocqueville said, “The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.”
So, my thought is let’s skip over dependency (end welfare) and skip bondage and get right back into spirituality which gives us the courage for liberty!
My husband, 70 this Friday, is a Master Mechanic with an AOS degree. He retired but a friend was desperate for someone who knew his stuff and had a good work ethic so he went back to work 3 days a week (now he's up to 5 because the quality of work has been so good that more business is coming in). He makes $45/hr. At age 70, working since he was 13, AOS degree, doing intricate work.
My daughter has MS Ed and is the director of a federally funded, low income Pre-K. She makes roughly $26/hr. Masters degree.
So F those burger flippers who think they deserve $25/hr. While $7.25v isn't enough, $25 is way too much. welcome to the real world.
My daughter is 18 recently graduated from High School. She took automotive classes in High School and just scored her dream job as a mechanic at our local Ford dealer.
The real problem with flipping burgers is that it was NEVER intended to be a career choice... it was something meant for high school and college students to do as an introduction into the workforce, and as a means to promote self worth to young adults on their way to becoming independent and prosperous.
I almost didn't vote because "Even the question is insulting" gives the impression that one can take the Democrats antics seriously. Seriously?! My eyeballs are polished marbles from all the rolling over they've done in my head!
On a side note, has anyone ever made a meme of Kamala as The Joker?
Second, the minimum wage should be $0.00. Your value to the company should dictate what you get paid. You go cheap, you get no workers, and you close.
BACK IN THE DAY, as a waiter/busboy, my minimum wage was $2, which was less than standard minimum wage, because they assumed I received tips..quite the incentive to do your job correctly.
Another stupid idea is the concept of a living wage. You want to improve your lot in life, pickup a skill set, move up the corporate ladder. Not making enough in job X, go find another position. Honorable daughter #3 is in job #5 right now, 7 yrs after college, always moving up.
Free stuff for votes works on people with low Emotional Intelligence. Remember that one? EQ. Low EQ people include those with high IQ’s and the millions of Sheeple.

Wow. If ever there was proof that Socialists/Communuts are anti-God (aside from them explicitly telling you so), this is it.
They are anti-prison. God has been pro-prison since the earliest days of humanity.

And FWIW, I don't blame you for having to look up the lyrics a thousand times.
That's some crazy $#!+. And I grew up hearing that song! That's the first time I've ever looked up the lyrics to that song.
I feel like I've lost a little innocence. Heh.
LingOL!
Wow!! I’ve never read the lyrics before now - I feel a little woozy… And that was a Bruce Springsteen song?! Thanks for the link
Manfred Mann I believe was the first band to sing that.
Yes, I was referring to the notes included after the lyrics that it’s a Springsteen-written song - and Bruce commented on the whole deuce / douche thing lol
Oh, OK. I tuned the lyrics out as I went down them and missed it.
Reads like something Kamala might have written on an acid trip.

Another stupid idea is the concept of a living wage. You want to improve your lot in life, pickup a skill set, move up the corporate ladder. Not making enough in job X, go find another position. Honorable daughter #3 is in job #5 right now, 7 yrs after college, always moving up.
