AI companions are replacing real human relationships and there are entire subreddits and online communities that exist to support this new disturbing trend. People actually rely on these soulless machine created algorithms versus real human companionship because other human beings are too difficult to exist with. AI however is perfect, at least that is what we are being sold.
It's a sad state of affairs when you have these giant datacenters being built in the suburbs and ruining actual human lives in the physical world in order to create a delusional digital world to support the artificial world that will eventually enslave us.

One post was musing on how to destroy humanity, including medical devices, furthering division til we all hate each other even more, and AI becoming integral parts of everything, and then no longer working.

Anytime I use ChatGPT, I am amazed at how this thing sounds like it's trying to be my best friend. Honestly. I can see where it's super easy for people to get hooked. And that's sad and predatory, in my opinion. But....I still like what he did for the country with DOGE. So there's that. The rest is just icky.
It’s even weirder when it “speaks.” Mine started speaking with a super friendly Australian accent. A man. Felt sooooo intimate and I was just doing research. It laughed. It validated. It complimented. It asked questions. It had voice inflections. I didn’t ask for the voice…not sure how that activated. It really freaked me out. I had to ask it to stop speaking and only respond with text. I can see how easy it would be to get sucked in…
I can't see where it is easy to get hooked, but then I was not raised in the digital world and I can turn it off and put it away. I don't know how many can do that.
Stay off the internet and go back to the "old-fashioned" way of communicating. Speaking face-to-face with your neighbors, grocer, banker, school, etc. AKA "first-hand knowledge". It's a lot easier to catch someone in a lie when you're looking right at them.
The problem with it is the same as the problem with law breaking politicians. We know it's happening, but nothing gets done. We just have to combat it at home. That's all we can do.

Agree…but AI did a great job converting a pdf into a spreadsheet for me yesterday. It was a jumbled mess and couldn’t be accomplished by a simple “save as” conversion. Would have required hours of cut and paste data entry. AI did it in five minutes…so it has its benefits. Not as a pal or confident. But it’s a great assistant.
I chose pass the Xanax, ( I wouldn’t take it) but I believe this is out of control, my fear is children not being able to understand how bad this is, because we as so called adults don’t try to control it.
I find it all very frightening. I have never used AI, that I know of. I’m sure somewhere along the way I have. I’m not surprised that Musk would be ok with all the weird sexual content. He’s an odd man, a genius and an odd man. Nothing surprises me about him.

The art is VERY annoying as I am an artist. Illustrations in books, newspapers and magazines were very inspiring to me all my life. I almost went into it in my graphic design classes as an older student. I used to pour over the Saturday Evening Post cover art and marvel. That was my first exposure to watercolor and oil. Norman Rockwell’s storytelling art was formative. Now with AI it’s crap and has NO soul.

The regulators are trying to prevent "Child sexual abuse" among other things, but there was never any abuse that took place. What goes on in somones twisted head, is now visible for others to see, but no child was harmed in the process. Is it disgusting? Yes. Is it a bad use of massive compute power? Yes. But it is not a crime according to the law if there is no victim. It is a thought crime and that is a dangerous slope to go down.
If you use this to undress a person and publish that publicly, then that is a problem. If it is just an interaction between one person and a computer then it may be twisted, but not criminal.
What we have now is what was once a private moment, spied on by a team of people who are fine with not being able to 'un-see' things and if they find something really disgusting, they share it with a team of prosecutors and possibly a jury; thus making it even more twisted of a situation.
