You have good logic in your appeal, but logic is ignored. The people we are trying to reach are not thinking for themselves. They are operating in a hypnotic state and doing whatever the news tells them they should do to feel righteous. These are people against guns that are now arguing for guns. They were against war until they were supporting wars. A meme I saw yesterday sums it up well:

Tonight we'll go to the "nobody is above the law" protest and then tomorrow we'll go Protect people that are here by Breaking the Law. After that, we'll go to the "ICE needs to show their Identity" protest and then go to the "You don't need an Identity to Vote" protest.

These people refuse to discuss it or even explain why they are doing it. A conversation it would seem would reach a logical (oops there I go again, thinking logic will prevail) conclusion.

I used to say: "We can't both be right. One of us is wrong and they say "I don't want to talk about it"".

Loved this:

Tonight we'll go to the "nobody is above the law" protest and then tomorrow we'll go protect people that are here by breaking the law. After that, we'll go to the "ICE needs to show their Identity" protest and then go to the "You don't need an Identity to vote" protest.

All while claiming to be "identity fluid"...

“logic is ignored” is exactly the epicenter of this political earthquake, designed to generate power. By importing significant numbers of “voters”they aim to control the US. The useful idiots will hopefully go extinct, especially when the most liberal states lose enough money due to shrinking economies (look at the CA exit). This is an example of the struggle for control and naturally power and money are the levers.

100%

That's why debate is useless. Continued action needed.

Like the hordes of liberal posters I see saying things like "what's really the problem with illegal immigration? it doesn't actually hurt anyone."

You can't argue/debate with someone who's assumed a position based on emotion and not logic. Those of you who are married know this ;)

I am married. I know what happens when you say "You need to calm down". ;-)

They have made the calculation, probably subconsciously, that they will not be a victim of the illegal criminals. Additionally, corporate media dutifully shields them from the most egregious crimes.

Occam's avatar

they did calculations?

I'm guessing they decided that Trump is a nazi, and everything follows from there.

Tom Krannawitter wrote a great piece on the why behind the derangement this morning and the hypocrisy underlying it all. He’s not as funny as Jenna (he doesn’t intend to be), but he’s really sharp and one of the most brilliant people I know.

I looked at your Substack link.

I prefer Jenna’s “take”here.

making.

Thank you for that article. He speaks to my Truth... ;-)

He nailed it in how people claim there are many truths and we can each have our own. He explained it very well.

Yup, I have many smart brainwashed useful idiOTS in my family. There is no talking sense to them as they are too far gone and only feelings matter. One once said to me “we are currently living in The Handmaids Tale times”. Another said “we still have slavery in this country!”…. I just can’t with them anymore.

Mike Myhre's avatar

Slavery has changed from having chains, to controlling minds. When people think they are free, they are easier to control.

My husband volunteers as a security guard at a local Christian school. When he volunteered to help, he did not realize that they were going to train him how to win a gun battle. The expected time you have to get your gun out, aim it and shoot it is 1.5 seconds. And most gun battles are waged at 7 feet away.

Just a note here on F…I am up in NoCA The Bay Area/Marin County to be specific. On Friday afternoon, the anti- ICE ‘protestors’ were out in full force this afternoon walking the streets of San Rafael, CA and over in Napa, CA as well. (I was in Marin and had to drive over to Napa.) Surprisingly it was a mix of young people of high school age and a bit younger who were Latino and there were white kids as well , shouting slogans like “ICE Out of Marin County” and some chant in Spanish that was led by a young Latina woman with a bull horn. These kids carried signs like “F**k Trump” (yes these were high school kids), a few of the Latino boys were carrying the Mexican flag.

Bringing up the rear of these blocks long ‘protests’ (in both cities) were the requisite ‘No Kings types’ of privileged, lefty, white geezers and biddies, (some walking with canes), and their signs were a bit more subtle, like “defund ICE”, and “ICE out of Marin” or “ICE out of Napa”. They didn’t use the F word like the younger people did. I was quite surprised to see so many high school age and younger kids out there, who were mostly Latino. I had to slow down to make a right turn at a corner they were congregated on, so I rolled down my window and shouted “do you even know what you are saying even means?” to a group of Latino teenagers and one of the boys spit on my car.

All I can say these ‘protestor’ types have gone totally insane out here in CA.

Was Friday afternoon a ‘national call to action’ to protest ICE? Maybe only in blue cities and states?

nancylee's avatar

de-escalation is sanity. but those who want a civil war are pulling out all the stops to keep us uniting in the realization of who our real enemies are. I have a suggestion, first what is yours?

bgail edmonson's avatar

Are you sure you’re on the right page?

Frontera Lupita's avatar

But if the opposition comes with an intent to harm with tear gas, weapons, or vehicles used as weapons, against the “authorities” (who BTW are trying to do their ‘job’) then what are the “authorities” to do? They are not coming with a ‘peaceful’ agenda, more like an agenda to cause chaos and mayhem.

Mike Myhre's avatar

The key takeaway is that protests don't work anymore. They are astroturf (fake grass roots). They can become mob mentality. It used to be that protests would cause the news to write articles that restrained and embarrassed government. Now they are used to fuel more propaganda and enrage the mob. What is this protest hoping to achieve (Jennas article).

What would happen if all the 100s of Thousands of people were to file a class action lawsuit against the government and our representatives? What if this issue were to play out in court?

SHug's avatar

These actions HAVE played out in a court, That is why there are LEGAL detainers issued on these people, who ARE criminals. That is why they are called ILLEGAL immigrants/aliens,.

If you are so certain these people need to be in the US, I suggest you have them live in your home, with your wife and kids - and YOU support them financially, cause I am damn tired of it. No more money for illegals, no housing (except a cell until deported), no welfare. NADA.

As the song says, You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here. https://youtu.be/xGytDsqkQY8?si=dWMVoLMp5YiDieBj

Minnesota wagging the dog:

From BinAnunnaki: "No way these people are rioting in sub zero weather for free. Who is paying them and how much."

From JackStrawWichita: "I read an X post this morning from a Spec Ops guy that says these protests are organized in exactly the same manner as what he's spent the last 2 decades fighting in the Middle East. The command and control structure is the same."

There is nothing organic about this uprising and it has many of the hallmarks of what Yuri Bezmonov warned about how the Soviet Union overthrew countries and expanded their empire. The four stages were (we appear to be in between stages 2 & 3 barreling toward stage 3):

1) Demoralization, "educate" an entire generation on the "proper" idealogy (15 to 20 years)

2) Destabilization, target country’s foreign relations, defense, and economy (ship all manufacturing to China, etc)

3) Crisis, 6-18 weeks of chaos as a climatic turning point.

4) Normalization, status quo and Overton Window dramatically shifted, expectations permanently gutted, military occupation standard.

Another way to say it: this is contrived, a formula, a script, it is not organic. We are being directed like puppets from a worn-out playbook at the merriment of psychopaths who own and control the media (what each side sees and hears, radicallizing all against one another) and who can hire armies of pretend rabble rousers at $26 bucks an hour with free dental to auction their souls on the alter of attempting to destroy the Constitution—the last bastion of genuine freedom on earth for themselves and everyone else.

The police hate the protestors and vice-versa, this did not happen by happy accident. We cannot let them divide and conquer us with this pathetic astroturfing

ELKFLA's avatar

That X post is right. None of this is happening organically. There are anarchist groups behind all of this who are inserting themselves into these situations, whipping up the anger, and urging violence. They don't care what the cause is, who gets hurt, or how much damage it causes as long as it provides an opportunity to provoke unrest and violence.

They keep trying to resuscitate the moldering corpse of the same, tired Marxist-Leninist crap from the 60's-70's, but have now added a spiffy new set of names for the same old bugaboos so that historically ignorant people with think that its some inventive new, humane, progressive way to live. Yeah, no. Che is dead. The USSR is dead. The cracks are showing in the CCP. It doesn't work. Get over it. These groups need to be hacked, infiltrated, and exposed for what they are..

Tim Pallies's avatar

"These bad actors are here. You don’t have to like it, but you do have to accept it."

Sadly, they've made it clear that they do not have to accept it. A significant portion of us are not tethered in any way to objective reality.

On a related topic, it's not only the violent that must go. Many illegals are not violent, but they still suck up housing, benefits, healthcare, and jobs. The competition our young people encounter, particularly for jobs and housing, is unjust.

I understand that big business loves the access to low wage workers, but that's not reason enough to throw our young people under the bus.

Valerie's avatar

I agree but I want to know why businesses that employ illegals aren’t being punished or chased down more aggressively. Seems like a $10k fine per illegal (or more) would make the process lot whole lot faster if they added it on to chasing down individual illegals. With the analytical ability of computer systems these days, it sure seems like this is a lost opportunity.

Tim Pallies's avatar

Sure, but how many big donors don't want that?

Valerie's avatar

That’s exactly the issue. But the pesky common sense I have still thinks we should be able to do SOMETHING.

Tim Pallies's avatar

I think your 10K idea is great, but no one other than my dogs seem to care what I think. 😒

Valerie's avatar

It’s not a popular opinion, but I appreciate your support.

SHug's avatar

Our systems have been infiltrated. Many of these illegals have been issued SS #s, drivers licenses, etc, so they can now pass E-verify. Many are receiving medicare, medicaid, social security, etc. Ripping off the taxpayers.

Occam's avatar

The damage of unchecked immigration is significant. We're seeing it in Canada where a majority of university grads can't get jobs when graduating.

My college-aged daughter had a hell of a time finding summer work because even the low-wage jobs are sucked up by the govt's immigration schemes.

And that's just the employment market - same goes with other resources (food, housing, etc.).

smallvictories's avatar

I've long since realized that irony (as well as objective reality) is lost on these people, but a question I've longed to ask them is this: if America is SO bad, if its rotten, fascist government is so corrupt that we have no rights, can someone explain to me - for the love of God - WHY all of these people want to be *here* in particular, rather than being in their own homes, in their own beds, with their own familiar surroundings and culture and food and languages?? Seems just a tiny bit of an oxymoron, given the claims that we're surrounded by literally nazis and a horrible Christian nationalistic culture ready to beat people over the head with their hard cover bedazzled bibles. Like maybe in a weird way, what these protesters are actually saying, without saying it, is that... we don't have such a terrible country after all? Could it be?!

This is what I think: if white privilege exists, it exists in the form of frothing, temper tantrum-throwing, f-bomb dropping, snotty white progressives (they no longer earn the title of liberal), claiming no person is illegal while dead-bolting their doors and checking their ring cameras in their quaint (gentrified) neighborhoods, while they tuck in to watch The Handmaid's Tale or Righteous Gemstones and catch up on their pious social media self-flagellation and posturing. They've got no real soldiers in any real fights, so they fabricate villains and reasons to cry publicly and it soothes their inner thumb-sucker while the real crises play out outside their doors. Western elitism is alive and well with these phony, virtue signaling do-gooder energy vampires, and quite honestly, they look like idiots to anyone paying attention. I don't want to give them the satisfaction of knowing they've stolen my peace, so I won't. And no one else should either.

Let them cry on the floor of the bread aisle, and move on to the produce and meat sections. 🫡✌️

Very good article, except the protesters and their ilk have been brainwashed and don’t comprehend that many illegals are dangerous. It’s like that information doesn’t even seem plausible to them. Classic cognitive dissonance. It’s fascinating and frightening.

Tim Connolly's avatar

"But “ABOLISH ICE” isn’t a reform; it’s a tantrum." Exactly right Jenna. Did they throw themselves on the supermarket floor in the bread aisle because someone just told them they can't have billions of our dollars to play pretend daycare? The timing is suspicious. But the scope and intensity and coordination of this protest is overwhelmingly fishy. Tragedy and comedy can exist in the same play. The Greeks knew that it reflected what life was. I am so very sorry those people lost their lives. ICE has ramped up too quickly without enough command and control and training. That's on us. But the problem is real. Illegal immigration is a threat to our country.

Tim Pallies's avatar

This "Tragedy and comedy can exist in the same play." is an absolute gem. Great insight!

I disagree with this, though. "ICE has ramped up too quickly without enough command and control and training." How much training is required to deal with irrational types who knowingly interfere with law enforcement? An infinite amount?

Tim Connolly's avatar

Thanks Tim Ah good point I tend to hyperbole to quickly. Situational awareness comes with experience and I think some of the ICE are new at this. Don’t you? I really don’t have info on their experience though so I’m talking out the corner of my mouth. If the Governor would cooperate and use his police for crowd control some of these situations might be tamped down but it’s like he wants it to burn, or was told to let it burn.

Tim Pallies's avatar

I certainly agree that many ICE agents are new, and undertrained is certainly a possibility. And that a bit of local support could vastly decrease the danger to all. It’s tragic that the left seems prefer to sacrifice its own.

Isabel's avatar

As I watch my (former) fellow Dems literally reject reality, I am saddened at how easily manipulated they are. The Dems I know are, empathetic, gullible, and very far removed from reality in their safe suburban homes and gated communities. A close friend in law enforcement shares a different reality with me. First - crime is NOT lower amongst the immigrant community. In liberal NJ, the AG has made it a practice to DOWNGRADE and combine offences. My friend just yesterday arrested an undocumented man when he robbed a store literally in front of her. He was arrested the week before for a similar offence and had 13 pending charges - PENDING. That is not counting prior convictions - he got a summons and was out again within hours. When he goes to court (on the rare occasion they show up) his charges will be downgraded and combined to maybe "trespassing". And this is happening every day - domestic abuse, battery, drunk driving (everybody gets a license in NJ - including illegals), theft, unlawful possession/threats with a weapon, drunkenness, fights, etc., etc. ALL DOWNGRADED. So, crime appears "low" in NJ and the AG looks good. The majority of the criminal interaction with her city police force is with illegals! And at 2:00 a.m. when these suburban ladies are safe in their lovely homes, these officers are dealing with an element these gullible fools can't conceive of. "Can we send his names to ICE and have him deported?" my friend naively asked. "Nope!" says the sergeant. "Just throw (the rap sheet) it away. We ARE NOT ALLOWED TO." NJ is a sanctuary state. And so, it continues... sigh...

AJoy's avatar

Same similar situation in the city school system I worked in. It was out of control with fights and students destroying property etc. we continually suspended them, called parents, called police etc until admin decided it didn’t look good. So we were no longer allowed to suspend or call police. Everything was handled inside so the number of incidents looked like it went down lol. All lies.

FoxyHeterodoxy (Debra C)'s avatar

Exactly my experience working in a public school system in the SF Bay Area. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Two people very close to me are Democrats and ICE protesters. I mean, they’re not out on the streets with signs, but they’ve used all the arguments we’ve read here during (unfortunate) discussions. Last night one of them told me it’s a “conspiracy theory” that illegals murder and traffic children. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Say what?!

“Well, the percentage that does is SO SMALL! But ICE is MURDERING AMERICANS!!!! Shot that guy in the back of the head while he was down on all fours,” he said with indignation and shock because I said maybe he shouldn’t have interfered with a federal operation. I mean, duh.

That conversation came about after I received an email from a company I subscribe to—and have since unsubscribed to. They are closing today and tomorrow (30 & 31) to protest ICE with their dollars. I expressed incredulity that such a small business would shutter its doors for two whole days to make a point to immigration officials but whatever. So apparently, y’all, these crazy liberal people will not be shopping today. Target is free at last! I’ll be there—and everywhere—today and tomorrow! 😂
