Firefly is one of the few shows I've ever watched with an excellent "don't trust the government / we love freedom" theme. The follow on movie "Serenity" even had a great anti-vax theme. Of course that is from over 20 years ago.
Something that absolutely shocked me was that when Covid came out, almost all of my fellow fans (called "Browncoats") were fully in support of masks, mandates, etc. These people actually got upset at me for pointing out that Firefly stood for freedom not tyranny.
These people, who loved the show, had completely missed the point / message / theme of the show!
A couple of years ago I noticed the Lego set I was looking at buying (turtle rescue) had syringes for vaccinating the turtles! That was a no-go. The propaganda starts young.

Since Covid, CNN has endangered the lives of my friends and family. Just yesterday, after the Islamic terror attacks at Old Dominion University and the Michigan Synagogue, one Jewish family member (CNN addict) did not think we have an Islamic terrorist problem. Her grandchildren attend a Jewish daycare.

I got the covid before the jabs came. I declined. my family did not as their jobs all mandated it of them and I don't blame anyone who has to put food on the table for going along with it. just sad. one of my children is vaccine injured but try getting a doctor to go along with that is impossible in New England. however, I never got the covid again and only one of my kids got the covid again.
I cannot hate the government and the businesses that all pushed this mass murder shot on the populace of what is supposed to be the freest nation on earth enough.

I had already checked out their prices and they are out of our range, they don’t take insurance and to get a “super bill” to be paid you have to present it to our insurance company who will pay nothing unless it has a pre-authorization. We are in the Socialist Hellhole of New England and our insurance is thru, get this, the hospital she and my husband both work for that mandated they get the killer shot. Their doctors won’t touch this with a 200 foot pole. We continue to try to fix some of it ourselves, but here we have little hope. Until we can report to VAERS and then the government make changes to holding those responsible, this is something she is going to have to deal with for the rest of her life. She was a healthy 22 year old, could hike and walk and draw (her ambition to be an animator) and now she has hEDS, continual pain in hands and forearms, chronic migraines which no one can figure out and no “discernible” medical reason for any of this, immune system shot she gets sick easily. Except after she got her second shot, within 6 months these things started happening - one at a time, over the period of these last 4 years. I was incensed to realize Epoch Times is also blocking and censoring vaccine information. It blocked a website. About the proportional dose of an infant vaccine or injection to an adult. The Vit K infant shot is equivalent to 23 doses given to an adult at the same time. The rest are similar. 72 jabs on the childhood schedule is the equivalent of 300 adult jabs. This was NEVER factored in nor studied. Big surprise, huh? I’ve not been reading epoch times long, so maybe it’s always been this way. The article there pushed the quotes of all the usual suspects.

I have been feeling DEEPLY disturbed by the memes...it's on brand for the DT admin in that it's unabashed, but I think the White House could easily propagandize war without it feeling like they outsourced their social media account to a group of middle schoolers. These are, well, exactly what kids would turn in if a history teacher was doing a lesson on wartime propaganda and assigned kids to create wartime propaganda for the digital era. But adults could do better - I'd hope.

It is demoralizing to have a significant & very loud portion of the country constantly denigrate the sacrifices you make to be law enforcement or military to protect their very right to share their opinions. I mean, the constant comparison to Nazis, jack-booted thugs, Hitler, and the like gets in your head no matter how much you KNOW you’re none of those. When someone repeats a lie often enough & loud enough, even the most innocent (of the lies) will begin to believe it and begin to doubt themselves and their motives. These people sacrificing their very lives need to be reassured that at least *someone* believes in them and their motives. If Trump’s version of raising morale is to create over-the-top memes and edits, at least he’s trying to support our heroes…it’s much better than the constant hate spewed by his opponents.
It’s also part of Trump’s love for hyperbole to make these outrageous memes & videos. Granted the part of the country that hates Trump will never be swayed by anything he says, does, or promotes…but the part of the country that values strength even when it must be backed-up by action, sees the superiority of the US forces as a good thing. Nobody is celebrating lives lost, but having someone finally put teeth to the threats is something to at least recognize.

Also I did not vote. Gave up news and social media for lent (except the people I read on Substack), so I have not seen the videos. I may never go back. It is exhausting trying to discern what is true/real. I gain nothing from scrolling X, except an occasional laugh. I can feel the algorithm making me hate people too.

Me, too. Life is sooooo much better sans network/cable tv, X/Twatter, Fakebook, InstaStupid, etc. I have a dear friend who watches (what I won't) and reports in on our morning walks with the pups. Jenna, you also do the "heavy lifting" and I am thankful for you!
It feels weird to not be on top of things, but my soul thanks me. I spend all that extra time learning more about gardening, permaculture, connecting with the earth and likeminded souls. If we don't find some peace and joy, we end up bitter and broken!
I have so much more to do on this earth, so God willing, He is leading me in a direction of learning, teaching, and sharing my skills and talents.

I first learned of media propaganda when I was in a relationship with my current husband who was a beat cop. They consistently lie about law enforcement involved shootings.

We had to operate on that nugget of misinformation and only listen to the truth at CNN or MSNBC. WaPo, NYT, etc. that total nutter Obermann was there then. I was incensed to realize Epoch Times is also blocking and censoring vaccine information. It blocked a website. About the proportional dose of an infant vaccine or injection to an adult. The Vit K infant shot is equivalent to 23 doses given to an adult at the same time. The rest are similar. 72 jabs on the childhood schedule is the equivalent of 300 adult jabs. This was NEVER factored in nor studied. Big surprise, huh? I’ve not been reading epoch times long, so maybe it’s always been this way. The article there pushed the quotes of all the usual suspects.

I have been feeling DEEPLY disturbed by the memes...it's on brand for the DT admin in that it's unabashed, but I think the White House could easily propagandize war without it feeling like they outsourced their social media account to a group of middle schoolers. These are, well, exactly what kids would turn in if a history teacher was doing a lesson on wartime propaganda and assigned kids to create wartime propaganda for the digital era. But adults could do better - I'd hope.
I know this approach appeals to some - but the turnoff factor for middle-grounders is massive.
And if the job of wartime propaganda is getting people on board - who is he trying to get on board? Granted, there's almost a zero percent chance he could get half the country on board with anything he does. So I guess that's the deviation - he's not trying to get Americans on board, the way former presidents seemed to be. Which means he's just flogging the most loyal DT supporters I guess?

I think Trump’s propaganda is to counter the constant propaganda on the other side that law enforcement and military are evil bad guys. Even Trump supporters and those that support law enforcement/military (that aren’t necessarily ‘the most loyal DT supporters’) get worn down by the near constant stream of hate towards these heroes. It is demoralizing to have a significant & very loud portion of the country constantly denigrate the sacrifices you make to be law enforcement or military to protect their very right to share their opinions. I mean, the constant comparison to Nazis, jack-booted thugs, Hitler, and the like gets in your head no matter how much you KNOW you’re none of those. When someone repeats a lie often enough & loud enough, even the most innocent (of the lies) will begin to believe it and begin to doubt themselves and their motives. These people sacrificing their very lives need to be reassured that at least *someone* believes in them and their motives. If Trump’s version of raising morale is to create over-the-top memes and edits, at least he’s trying to support our heroes…it’s much better than the constant hate spewed by his opponents.
It’s also part of Trump’s love for hyperbole to make these outrageous memes & videos. Granted the part of the country that hates Trump will never be swayed by anything he says, does, or promotes…but the part of the country that values strength even when it must be backed-up by action, sees the superiority of the US forces as a good thing. Nobody is celebrating lives lost, but having someone finally put teeth to the threats is something to at least recognize.

That's a fair point and TBH one I hadn't considered.
I do think, still, that it would be possible to make memes that celebrate them/strength/action/the military who are putting themselves in harm's way, in a way that seems more respectful to lives lost/the potential for lives lost during war. Even if the memes didn't outright acknowledge the human cost of war while still setting up why we're doing it, at least they could not seem to glorify destruction.

I see your point & I’m not fond of all the memes or edits that the White House puts out myself. However, too much emphasis on the loss of life and you sour people on protecting ourselves/others and risk coming across as an ‘In the Arms of an Angel’ kind of statement. There’s probably a fine line somewhere, but since Trump is a sledge hammer where perhaps a jeweler’s hammer would suffice, he crosses it.

Yes, the hypocrisy that Jenna has pointed out is infuriating and nonsensical. As usual, I will go a little further and say that the real purpose of these "headlines" is to continue pretending that CNN and other mainstream media outlets are separate from the government. They are not. They are all being controlled by the same ruling class that forced us to lockdown, lose our jobs, inject ourselves and our loves ones, and then tell us how much better off we are because of the clot shots. Now they are telling us how war is good and how we are the good guys getting the bad guys.
The fourth branch of the government needs to keep pretending that they are reporting the facts and that they are critical of the current administration, but it is all a charade. They are being controlled by the same entities. Don't fall for it.

Personally, Sheila - my take is that it will end when President Trump is satisfied that the regime in place will never have a nuclear weapon, and also that it will never again unilaterally wipe out upwards of 30,000 of its own citizens protesting their lack of personal freedoms.
