I'm somewhere between someone get a muzzle for him and his hands and dammit, this is exactly what I voted for! At least it's not the rhetoric from the previous administration. And at least he's honest. His feelings are not held back, for sure. But I'm not sure that's a great thing. Lol

Donna in MO's avatar

Same. On one hand, we clamor for transparency. On the other, when we get it, we are like, oh he's inappropriate. We had a general for a president (Eisenhower). Willing to bet he dropped f-bombs on the regular. Truman, from my home state, was known to use 'colorful language'. And so on. We just didn't have social media to know about it.

That being said, it was not a good look, especially on Easter Sunday. But he's a package deal, good and bad, just like the rest of us.

Brian M's avatar

Trump knows that the only way to get through to Iranian strongmen (IRGC) is with tough language backed up by hard action. That is the language of the Middle East. Soft, European-style diplomatic language shows Iranians weakness which they exploit. I am not sure how effective Chamberlain-style diplomacy ever has been. It makes refined State Dept types feel good about themselves, but does it ever work? How well did diplomacy work with Hitler? With Xi? With Kim Jung Un? With Putin? I will take my Prez tough as nails, thank you

This. Soooo this!

Lori's avatar

I would have used George Carlin's 7 dirty words personally.

Juju's avatar

So many great posts here today. Lots of laughter in here. 🤣

Lori's avatar

Who invented the idea that fuck is a swear word? I did not agree to that. It could have easily been the work pickle. On the scale of world events, its a nothing.

Tonee norman's avatar

Agreed. Though, now,I would rather not hear it injected into so much common conversation, and, it isn’t what I ever considered “presidential “. But,the world isn’t what I thought it was, either,it seems…i think people( even our President ) do it for the endorphin rush. There’s actually a WORD for the type of endorphin rush experienced by “swearing “.. I don’t remember the name. Easily looked up…who knows what is going on with that guy.?🧐

Lori's avatar

What guy? The President? Guy has steel balls and takes no shit. That is what is going on.

Jpeach's avatar

IMO Trump’s actions speak dramatically louder than his posts. His posts have many objectives and should not be taken literally. Trump is dismantling the Iran Terror State, the Deep State, neutralizing the CCP and protecting American lives. I’ll take that.

Proberta's avatar

All wars are Bankers' wars.

Donald Trump has bombed Iran, Nigeria, Yemen, Venezuela, Iraq, Somalia, and Syria (killing innocent women, children and civilians).

Do you know what those countries all have in common?

They are remaining countries NOT on the Rottchild banking system.

ALL WARS are Bankers' wars.

Marlene Swann's avatar

Exactly! Half of me is like - hey excuse me but I’m tryin to teach my kids NOT to use that kind of language, and the other half was like if this is really true that his post was an operation in and of itself, to buy time to complete the rescue mission - then THIS IS WHAT I VOTED FOR!

Lynn Barton's avatar

Right? I thought if my kids had used that language they would be in big trouble. And the PRESIDENT is speaking that way?

Lori's avatar

your kids are using that word, they all do. you just don't hear it.

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

Yep, fact. And think about it, how is it different from say "intercourse"?

John Wright's avatar

{smile} Yes, it's quite fascinating to find ourselves on both sides of the fence! It's good to have a president alive that does something! But at the same time we are wishing he did something different!

Marlene Swann's avatar

If this really was an operation within another operation, you have to admit it was quite sacrificial to put your reputation on the line to say hey come look at THIS!! to draw attention away from THAT. Shows he put his money where his mouth is - to rescue one soldier. As per his previously proclaimed sentiments… 😊

DDForTruth's avatar

Two.

Two brave War Fighters were rescued Friend.

Both behind enemy lines.

Both in different places.

One being hunted by the IRGC with a bounty on his head.

That particular one being a Colonel.

Both now home safe and sound.

(What would the IRGC have done to this Colonel if they had captured him? On National Television to be sure! AFTER the attempted expulsion of information.)

Leave No Man Behind.

Not just a hash tag.

Now think of the optics of what just occurred.

The Commander in Chief and the USAF mean what they say, and say what they mean, and now the whole world has literally just witnessed how far they will go to keep their word.

Wonder if that will boost the trust and loyalty of both the War Fighters and The People, knowing the distance President Trump will go to to save America, Americans, and the world?

*remembers what "Biden" did during the Afghanistan withdrawal

I couldn't "vote for this" literally, because I am not American, however, my "air" vote from afar could have been seen from space!!

Anyhoo,

I read a post by an Iranian woman who said she listened with anticipatory tears praying the soldier would be rescued by the U.S. What she didn’t expect was when news of his rescue reached her and how it went down, there was envy deep down inside of her that our country would do all that for JUST ONE of our citizens while her own country chooses to use them as human shields and expendable, allowing horrific things to happen to them if it serves their desired purpose. (Reminded me of our Democrat party) She was torn between celebratory happiness for us and despair for them. It’s sad when you think about it. The times in our own country when we had leaders that wouldn’t do what Trump just did is unforgivable. We are a light to the world. A beacon of hope. We should be showing how it SHOULD be done in every country.

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

The responses to end forever wars and terrorism: PEACE and fair trade the world over instead, are interesting to say the least, however.

Makes one wonder why.

Either you support Trump, or ya don't...there ain't no in between at this point in time, and when the dust finally clears, he's gonna look like an absolute moron - just like ALL the other fair-weather "supporters" who claim to be MAGA, until they aren't.

Thanks DD, I really enjoyed reading your comments. That clown was, is, and always will be misinformed, because he is willfully misinformed. What I find hilarious is these bozo's claim to be 3 time Trump voters but now they are suddenly changed because he is finally ending the war started decades ago and used the word Fuckin? They think we can't see right through their stinking load of excrement? He has such hate that he cannot see the reality, and therefore thinks nobody else can either. What a pathetic life he must live. And the poor fool comes from New Jersey, he was terminally poisoned long ago. His prognostications prove how inadequately he is informed. He doesn't not only not have the playbook, he is also missing a full deck of cards in the cranium.

Thank you again DD, I did have a wonderful Resurrection Weekend, in fact a whole Lenten season topped off by a wonderful Holy Week of joyous celebration of our Lord Jesus' life and death for us. I also thanked God for Trump and prayed He would continue to protect him. I think he will, else why did he save him?

I did more than chuckle. I swear every stinking time I reread his tweet I bust out in open laughter for several minutes. 🤣🤣🤣 My sensitivities are not going to get in the way of acknowledging how amazing he is. “Crazy bastards” is the most comical TRUTH that can be spoken about Iran. He nails it. The absurdity of it all is wrapped up in that tweet. It was brilliant.

Trump was channeling his best Gen. George Patton. There are a lot of similarities between the old war general and Trump, don't you think?! Including a number of influential people who wanted him dead (and were successful in killing Patton).

Proberta's avatar

Trump f'kd up.

He played Chicken with Iran and Iran didn't blink.

Now the Strait of Hormuz is closed and destroying the World economy.

And Trump has no say in the matter now. Iran will decide when the Strait is opened.

And Iran is not going to open the Strait unless Trump eats a big slice of humble pie and agrees to Iran's demands which includes the closure of ALL U.S. bases in the regions, $2M toll for Western ships in Hormuz, and $100billion dollars in reparations.

"OVER THE LAST TWO DAYS, VERY GOOD AND PRODUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS" - Donald Trump

But according to Iranian news, NO ONE is talking to Trump.

And why would they? The dumbshit killed the last leader that tried to negotiate with him!

Erika's avatar

So Iran is more honest in your opinion than Trump? The same Iran that murdered their own citizens by the thousands for protesting the regime? The same Iran that said their missiles could only go 2000km, but ended up going the distance from Iran to Paris? The regime that’s been screaming ‘death to America’ for decades? You’re trusting *their* word? Maybe you should buy some property from them with views of the Grand Canyon and Brooklyn Bridge…I’m sure it’s not a scam. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Proberta's avatar

Erika, all wars are Bankers' wars.

Trump and Bibi's war to steal Iran's oil is costing the American people $1BILLION dollars A DAY.

Dubby Rose's avatar

Ha! Trump can't die! Robert DeNiro has assured us that Trump will never leave office. Trump may be insane, but DeNiro is a font of wisdom and clarity. Therefore, Trump not only can't be dead but will remain alive and in office until the mind control aerosol spray that's afflicted so many of us clears up, I am relieved to say. Funny though, how so many people are capable of diagnosing Trump's mental health when these same people to this day have seen no sign of dementia from Biden.

Want to know who else is a bad ass?

Marco Rubio. He just ordered Solemani’s niece and her daughter to be detained and they will be deported back to Iran. They’ve been living here enjoying green Card status.

Brian M's avatar

I noticed the niece has not been wearing a hijab or burka, unlike the women in the country she defends as she criticizes the country where she now lives. America gives her the freedom to dress as she wishes. No bigger example of hypocrisy than this

SuszaQ's avatar

Yeah, you can see her posing in a bikini on Facebook apparently on Ken Blackwell’s page. I’m not on Facebook, but a friend of mine sent it to me.

The niece is very outspoken against America and calls us the great Satan.

Pretty sure she won’t have a very welcome reception when she gets back to her mother country.

DJL's avatar

Gordon Jackson's avatar

Could be. Trump could not be doing a more effective job of taking down the deep state (i.e., draining the swamp) if he were explicitly trying to do so. When all of this is over there's likely to be:

* No more Israel

*No more US military presence in the Middle East

* No more NATO

* No more petro-dollar

* Ukraine completely under the control of Russia and unavailable to the DS for bio-weapons manufacture and child trafficking

At both inaugural addresses Trump cast himself in a self-sacrificial, Christ-like light, saying: "I do this for you, the American people." Maybe he knew that self-immolation of at minimum his presidency would be the price of accomplishing the mission.

Meddling Kid's avatar

You used the term “self-sacrificial, Christ-like light”, so I’m going to assume you are a Christian or at least aware of Christian teachings.

But many Christians do not read enough to know that once Israel was re-established, it will not cease until the new Heaven and new Earth. You either have to believe that or reject the entire Bible, there is no middle ground.

Other than that, there will be many tribulations until the Great Tribulation and the Day of the Lord, which may or may not be during our lifetimes.

NATO can suck it since they have become useless anyway, but the petrodollar economy won’t change anytime soon.

Lori's avatar

Boom, Bible says so.

Gordon Jackson's avatar

I don't believe that I have to believe your interpretation of the Bible. No oil coming through the Strait of Hormuz will be traded in petrodollars, probably from now on. And if Trump follows through with the threat of war crimes in his Easter post -- a vile insult to the inclusive and peace-loving spirit of Christianity -- then there won't be any oil coming out of the Gulf states to be traded in any currency for a long, long time.

Meddling Kid's avatar

I love peace too.

But if someone comes into my house and threatens my family, I will end them. I won’t be nice, I won’t ask them to leave. I will use any means necessary to ensure they don’t get to keep breathing just to go to prison and be let out to do it again.

As much as it is up to you, be at peace. Romans 12:18

We live in a world where some threats are too big and imminent not to act. Iran is already attacking Israel on several fronts. Iran has already attacked the US around the world. To continue tolerating it is to ask the murderer in your living room to sit down and have a time out while you slap his wrist before he surprises you with his murderous rampage.

You don’t wait. You end the threat that’s been promising to end you for decades.

Gordon Jackson's avatar

I know we're often called the United States of Amnesia, but have you forgotten already who started this war, completely unprovoked?

Armor of Light's avatar

Gordon, Gordon, Unprovoked War???? Years of threats, murders, attacks, wars, manipulations. The entire Middle East may be a threat. Someone has to put an end to it once and for all. UN and Geneva convention just in place to perpetuate forever wars and limit the mighty United States from dominating the world after its decisive win after WWII. War is hell and this one must be won.

Meddling Kid's avatar

You have a misguided definition of unprovoked, and no concept of allies.

Who arms and funds all of the Muslim “extremist” groups around the world that attack the US, Israel, and nearly every western nation?

Just because we weren’t attacked 3 days before this war started, doesn’t mean we started the war. It has been raging on and off for 1400 years.

It is a war of subjugating the entire world under the boot of Satan’s Islam, and it won’t end with this current war either.

Donna O's avatar

I guess the good news for Israel is that what you believe only affects…you.

Lori's avatar

Good, then let your daughter marry a jihadist and let us know how that works out for you. You are a vile insult to common sense.

Lori's avatar

Israel going nowhere. God sees to that. Read Revelation.

Proberta's avatar

"...taking down the Deep State"

How???

By filling the Swamp AGAIN???

Meddling Kid's avatar

This is why we have had a history of communists as presidents masquerading as democrats. Most of you who call yourself centrists and thinkers can’t handle the reality of someone being honest. “Oh he’s such a nice man even though he’s a bit left.” “Oh I don’t like him, he’s so rude, no decorum.”

Do you not realize that behind closed doors, every one of them has the same potty mouth when the screws get tightened? Do you not realize Carter was barking f-bombs when the hostages were taken? Wake the f up. Just because someone expresses their anger publicly doesn’t mean they aren’t the best person for the job. We’re all sick of politicians, and finally a leader comes who proves he can do the job and you reject him on his manners???

If you think he’s a pedophile, you’re insane. If you don’t like his language, toughen up, because rape and murder is far worse than any words, and that’s the only export of a country like Iran under Shia leadership.

If you don’t like globalists, then by definition you don’t like Shia Islam, or any Islam really, because they are hellbent on world domination. Learn your history and then maybe you have a right to comment on someone trying to keep the nukes from being used.

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

For those who don't understand how Islam works or its globalist goals, listen to Raymond Ibrahim talk about its history of conquest: within a few hundred years after the Middle East had become largely Christian, Islam swept in and turned the region into muslim territory by mass executions of Christians and the burning down of their churches. Then it headed for Eastern Europe.

Ibrahim's most important influencer has been historian Victor Davis Hanson.

Did you see that hilarious news segment where they questioned that young kid about Artemis II? When they asked him why he was there he said, “because they’re going to the friggin’ moon!” 🤣🤣 He said it so fast it sounded like he actually said the F word. But he knew his momma and poppa would hear. Lololol

Still, I let “friggin” slip out when around kids or those I don’t know. How long before “friggin” becomes as inappropriate as the real word? Who decides what’s civilized? I remember growing up being disciplined out of saying “gosh” because it was a substitute for using the lord’s name in vain. 🤨 I’m so tired living by the rules of mere men.

God forbid us to use his name in vain. He forbids us letting lies slip past our tongues. He forbids any words meant to deceive another or destroy their character.

He didn’t say I couldn’t use the word crap or damn.

And I don’t think the F word was a thing in biblical times? Granted I do categorize it as a filthy word, so I don’t always reach for it myself unless in the privacy of my own home, and I wouldn’t approve of someone using it towards God, but towards an evil man? An evil group of people? I’ll allow it. (*files my nails…)

Donna O's avatar

Why not? If they’re ok, why don’t you want children to hear and use them?

I might be the only one who thought the tweet was hysterically funny. "Praise be to Allah." On Easter, which Muslims do not celebrate. What a troll! Also I thought he was channeling his inner Patton. (Patton swore all the time and people didn't like him doing that. He thought it was necessary for his war time persona.) Nothing he does surprises me any more.

Heather B's avatar

I went over to FB this morning and saw this after I already posted. By Sid Miller:

To those of you fretting about President Trump's profane message to Iranian leaders, might I direct you to something once said by the great Gen. George S. Patton, Jr.

“You can’t run an army without profanity; and it has to be eloquent profanity. An army without profanity couldn’t fight its way out of a piss-soaked paper bag.”

Patton said the use of swear words was part of cultivating a "war face."

This is not a church social or high tea -- this is war, folks.

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

I agree, well said. LTMW. And remember this the elite - meaning the grifting lunatics on the left - will say and do anything to destroy or at least hurt him, the admin, and those of us who support him - I think about 80 million voters, not including those the left stole in their failed attempt to manipulate the outcome of the 2024 election.

Donna O's avatar

And the left swears about 12 times in every sentence! (Presumably trying to buy time to put together a rational thought.)

You’re not the only one! I laughed so hard, still am laughing! People are too preoccupied with “appropriateness” that they miss the brilliance. Too many Pollyannas running around on our side, similar to holding a ruler to every woman’s skirt and fussing over those they deem to be too short.

These are not appropriate times and they require inappropriate words.

Heather B's avatar

I'm still laughing too, and I'm so happy he made sure we got our pilots back! That's what's important, and I think the tweet was part of the distraction. 💕

I’m sure that tweet served MULTIPLE purposes that people who are sputtering near their swear jars are too foolish to see.

My husband and I laughed nonstop yesterday every time a news program covered it. 🤣🤣🤣 I love this president so much. 😆

Heather B's avatar

😂 OMG us too. We kept saying "Praise be to Allah" and laughing all over again. Yes, multiple purposes for sure! I come from a military family where all the men swear all the time so it sails over me anyway. But I LOVE his tweets and sense of humor. 🎊

Firstly, X has become a trash can of garbage posts by bots and dopes and no longer worthy of the time it takes to sort through it. Secondly, I believe President Trump is merely giving the religious lunatics running Iran a taste of their own hyperbole, and he’s showing the world how fanatical, illogical, irrational and unreasonable the mullahs and IRGC are, as they would risk their lives, their civilian infrastructure, and the wellbeing of millions of innocent Iranians rather than negotiate a ceasefire.

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

Well said, even using Firstly and Secondly instead of simply First and Second.

First, one would

need to locate the “Book of criminal warfare”, if it exists.

Second, when the enemy does not recognize things like the Geneva Convention, what ties our hands?

Tim Pallies's avatar

As to your question, I would prefer that we recognize the GC simply because it’s the right thing to do.

As to Iran recognizing the GC, the closest AI I could find says: “1949 Geneva Conventions: Fully ratified and in force for Iran.”

George Bredestege's avatar

They burned a few of our people alive not that long ago. I don’t think this regime honors any convention

Tim Pallies's avatar

I was not aware of that. What a horror!

I correct myself, not our people. Jordanian pilot burned alive in cage in by ISIS, which is funded by Iran. Either way, I don’t think there will be any war crimes trials.

Michael Bunte's avatar

Yes, it is. U.S. and Israel have committed multiple war crimes in my lifetime, and especially lately. Imagine, if you are Iranian, your leaders go to the negotiating tale, having already agreed to many demands, and then having your leaders assassinated. Yeah, there is nothing about the U.S./Israel coalition that is honorable or virtuous.

I believe it’s you that’s been under a rock. None of the mentions of Trump in the Epstein files were found credible. Even discounting the credibility, most of the mentions of Trump were in the line of address book inclusions, mentions that Trump wouldn’t play, and similar. Even outside the files, the accusations against Trump were never proven to a criminal standard. Civil court basically just determines if the accused action was plausible, not whether it actually happened as accused. That’s far from a smoking gun of ‘he’s a rapist pedophile’ and more like ‘he could have done this or it could have gone down differently’. A lot of things are plausible, but don’t factually happen. But go ahead with your ‘pEdOpHiLe OrAnGe MaN bAd’.

Always nice to see someone prove which side of the intelligence scale they fit on…when name calling is your go-to ‘proof’, that says something. Tcha!

Please...the Dem's had the files for Jill Biden's 4 years. If they'd have found anything, they would have been tripping over themselves to release it. So, there was either nothing to find, or, the Dems were to stupid to find anything. Which is it?

You are delusional if you believe that and Shia Muslim would say “We forever give up our plans for nuclear weapons. We mean it this time. We’re finally being honest.”

This is an insane death cult we’re dealing with. They don’t want the bomb for the same reason Russia and the US want the bomb - to scare each other into never using it. No, they want the bomb so they can nuke Israel, kill as many Jews as possible, and start WW3 so big that it initiates End-of-World proceedings. You can’t reason with that. The only way to combat that is to kill everyone with that ideology. But you can’t kill an ideology, so it’s a forever task.

What do we know of WMDs? They are typically thought of as two types - nuclear and biochem.

We know, for a fact, beyond argument, that Saddam gassed the Kurds in ‘88. We know they had chemical weapons, but I wasn’t there so I didn’t see them myself so they didn’t happen?

What makes you think that Saddam didn’t also want to develop nukes? Just because “someone reported” that “they” couldn’t find evidence doesn’t mean that evidence wasn’t covered up. Just as you DON’T BELIEVE what they said about WMDs, I DON’T believe what the CIA reports about NOT finding WMD’s. Given the CIA are professional liars, I like my chances of being right.

The tweet is so bad, I hoped for Trump's sake that he *was* hospitalized and that an intoxicated nephew had gotten hold of his phone. Like yourself Jenna, I hoped to God it was not real. But alas it was. It is damning, and shows the world how desperate he is, having gotten himself (against the better judgement of all of those who supported him, people like myself and people like Charlie Kirk who took him at his word when he said "no more wars") into an impossible situation just like we said he would. Trump *is* indeed alive. But in the coming days he may well wish he was not. This is not going to end well. Israel Firsters will be delighted, but for the rest of us, this is a very sad moment.

Armor of Light's avatar

The tweet was essentially “look a squirrel” to a dog. A distraction so large even his people were made to look away. In the mean time, he was rescuing airmen from certain death, and God only knows what else. He is probably amazed you all took the bait so easily and hopefully the enemy is taking “All” the bait as well.

Erika's avatar

The Iranian soldiers don’t have to be distracted by the tweet if their leaders are distracted by it. There was so much going on behind the scenes during the rescue of the Colonel that this tweet *might* have been designed to distract Iranian leadership while the CIA also set up distractions, & while the military set up distractions AND a rescue mission. Knowing I don’t know even a significant portion of the intel that Trump does keeps me from prognosticating about whether his decisions or his tweets are just him being braggadocious or him being a distraction for other purposes. There’s even a possibility it isn’t any either-or situation but an and-this situation.

Dan McCarthy's avatar

So you think the Iranian soldiers looking for the airmen were too distracted by the tweet to keep looking for the airmen?

Armor of Light's avatar

They are all stupid and fall under TDS. Probably standing around with their guns pissed that Trump said Praise Allah. Yes that stupid.

Dan McCarthy's avatar

I'm certainly not here to promote Iranian armed forces and I agree our forces did a great job in recovering our stranded airman. But I'm not sure Trump's tweet really had anything to do with it. I have been a huge supporter of Trump but I thought the tweet was truly embarrassing for him, his supporters and this country.

Juju's avatar
Apr 6Edited

Only a fool would be embarrassed by this president but not of Biden. Good grief 🙄

Don’t be embarrassed for me, one of his supporters, I’m proud of him and think you’re the embarrassment here for not being. And you most certainly ARE supporting the Iranian regime during this time with your rhetoric trying to pull support from our President. Disgusting.

Dan McCarthy's avatar

I never said Biden wasn't embarrassing. He was - obviously! He was a total shambles of a man - didn't even know what day it was! But that doesn't change the fact that Trump has made a monumental mistake her, that we are all going to be paying for, for a long time to come.

Brian M's avatar

You apparently prefer getting nuked into oblivion than END a 47 year war with Iran that was started by another weak kneed Democrat President, Carter. Trump is doing what all the other "chicken" Presidents before him would not, which is end a terrorist regime that has killed directly over 2000 American citizens. Most Americans do not take the chicken way out. But I see there are still quite a few who will

Dan McCarthy's avatar

Oh come on Brian - are you *still* falling for that BS that they trot out every time? Seriously? Just like Iraq and its "weapons of mass destruction". Did you go get your jabs when they told you to? Isn't it time for your next booster? Wake up, Brian.

Brian M's avatar

No, I don't get "jabs" because I am told to, but I am sure you do. When it comes to nukes, you do not screw around and wait to find out if it was a bluff or not. You take action. I was actually okay with the Iraq invasion in 2003 because Hussein had been making the threat he had nukes and planned to use them. That is all it takes for me to agree to war. The problem with 2003 is that Bush and his advisors thought they could westernize Iraq and Afghanistan. That is where stupid became involved. Those Arab / Persian countries cannot be "westernized". They are fundamentally tribal in nature and only understand power and force to change their behaviors. Trump is giving the mullahs and IRGC the only truth they understand

Dan McCarthy's avatar

No Brian, Saddam Hussein *never* claimed to have nukes. He consistently denied possessing atomic bombs in public statements, while openly acknowledging and threatening the use of chemical weapons (which he described as advanced "binary" chemical weapons comparable to those of the superpowers). But interesting to note that you think simply the *suspicion* that a country has nukes (even if just a rumor started by Israel to try and goad you into war) is enough of a reason to slaughter thousands of children. I think that tells people all they need to know about you, Brian.

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

He never said no more wars. You are a liar and your silly and wishful prognostications are gaslighting BS.

What he did say was he would never let Iran achieve nuclear weapons. You'd do well to STFU AND LTMW.

Gordon Jackson's avatar

I thought Trump said he "obliterated" Iran's nuclear program last June? And every intelligence report he has ever gotten from American intelligence agencies have told him that Iran was not developing a nuclear weapon. Though they will be now, thanks to this insane war of aggression that began with the murder of the ayatollah who issued a fatwa against the use of nukes. His son, who lost a wife and child as well, will likely have no such reservations. The US and Israel have made the world understand that the only way to protect themselves is to develop a nuclear deterrent. You don't see any saber-rattling now against North Korea, do you?

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

Thats pretty funy, propping up the utterly failed and tyrannical dictatorships of Iran and NK. Like the "world" and Iran didn't already know this, reprobate? That Iran didnt already proclaim they had enough material for 10-11 nuclear weapons? That when ever the Iranians mouths are moving they are lying? Give me a break. So therefore I can ignore any more delusional attemots by you to convince anyone of anything, except that you are a TERMINAL TDS sufferer. Seek mental assistance.

So let's be real clear so even you can figure it out. Trump is ENDING THE WAR started at least 4 decades ago by the Iranians, who have been enabled afain and again by the losers you real support, clinton, obama, biden, etc.

No gaslighting here, Dan. Just a huge MAGA supporter who feels burned by this Israel First monstrosity costing us $2bn per day and further destroying our global credibility. Would you call Charlie Kirk a gaslighter too? He didn't want this war. In fact some say he was the first casualty of it...

Trump is not ending a war. Trump has started a war. After saying he wouldn't start any wars. Iran did not start this. You are kidding yourself. Next you'll be telling me that they were "just hours away from producing a nuke" or some other such nonsense. Now *that* is gaslighting!

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

As I said and you seem incapable of reading and comprehending, he didn't start ut but he is finishing it, let that settle in to your TDS infected single brain cell.

2 bn a day to end a 47 year war and the threat of nuclear annihilation in about 6 weeks which has cost us trillions and ends a threat to the world? Money well soent instead of supporting their effirts as your friends clinto, obama, and biden abd their tyrannical regimes did to us.

Where do you live? Portland?

Fuck you, dont bring Kirk into this, he wasn't in gov nor a policy maker, nor was he the final arbitratir if anything. All that being saud he was a dann good person and dudnt deserve to be assassinated by lunatics like you.

Dan McCarthy's avatar

No TDS here, Dan - as Jenna and her readers know well, I have always been a big Trump supporter and defended him to the hilt. But on this one, I cannot. It is a grave mistake and the consequences will be huge. The strait of Hormuz will *not* reopen (at least not to us - China will be fine) and we do have to import oil into the USA (even though Trump incorrectly stated that we do not.

There is and was no threat of nuclear annihilation Dan. And even if there was prior to summer 2025 (which there wasn't), didn't Trump tell us the threat had been eradicated? So which way do you want it, Dan? You can't have it both ways. Was Trump wrong last summer, or is he wrong now? Please do let us all know.

Don't bring Kirk into this?! Charlie Kirk brought himself into this, Dan. He was *passionate* about it. He went to the White House *specifically* to petition Trump on this matter. And he was succeeding. That's why he needed taking out. I was a huge Charlie Kirk fan and to suggest that he was assassinated by people like me just makes you look a fool Dan. You sound like you believe whatever slop the FBI or CIA puts out there. You have embarrassed yourself over and over again this morning.

Please do try to learn to debate your fellow conservatives without resorting to foul language, Dan - again, it is embarrassing for you. If anyone writes like a typical Portlander, it is you my friend. Oh and on that note, I live in Red Bank, NJ. It is a blue state but I am a conservative. Thanks for asking!

You may be dealing with semantics, just the same, even though I do not trust Wikipedia, here is is.

Has the USA officially declared war?

AI Overview

No, the United States has not officially declared war since World War II. While Congress has the power to declare war under Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution, the U.S. has engaged in numerous conflicts, such as Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan, using authorized military force rather than formal declarations.

Brian M's avatar

But war WAS declared on America by Iran. This is unequivocal. They have repeated their declaration over and over for 47 years and have killed Americans as they had the opportunity over that time. America is "The Great Satan" in the eyes of the mullahs and has been condemned to destruction when a nuclear weapon is available to them. This is not speculation, it is reality. When people threaten to destroy you consistently over decades, take them at their word. Do not play "chicken" with their intentions

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

Exactly correct, a fundamental flaw in these delusional weak arguments by Trump haters.

Dan McCarthy's avatar

Ok thanks Craig for this intervention.....call it whatever you like, call it war or call it a "detour" as Trump did....it is killing people, it is costing $2bn per day, and it is going to result in a massive global recession with oil prices at >$200 per barrel.

Juju's avatar

What about the 40,000+ Iranians that Iran killed themselves this year? You probably were of the mentally challenged group that protested against the two MN rioters that got killed but stayed mute over the hundreds of innocent women and children raped and murdered by illegal aliens. Same stretch of logic in both places. 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Please tell us all, Dan, how Iran has posed a threat to Americans at any point in the last 4 decades. While we have your attention, perhaps you could also explain to us all how this $2bn per day war helps everyday Americans (not Israelis...please stay focused on Americans - very different) in any way, shape or form. You don't need to wait dipshit, just did, see above. How does letting intel we know nothing about lie idle help everyday Americans? One benefit of this war to everyday Americans might be peace of mind knowing Iran won’t be training more terrorists to attack every day Americans. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I can’t see the benefit of Biden, Obama, & Clinton throwing money at Iran to pay them off so they wouldn’t hurt the US either. In fact, I’d say the difference between status quo of do nothing except pay Iran and do something by bombing Iran may have similar costs but in the end, hopefully, bombing them will lead to an end of the payoffs and threats from Iran. Is being allies with Israel worse than funding Iran’s hatred for America? Is meeting the threat that is Iran with not money or empty threats but actual bombs worse than simply paying them & hoping they won’t send terrorists to attack us or our allies?

Also, I’m obviously not an expert, but I’d say 6-8 months of frantic work to rebuild nuclear options is a plausible explanation for why the bunker buster 6-8 months ago still needed further action. The material was still there & a focused regime with little regard for their own people’s health and wellbeing could dedicate significant energy to retrieving said material to build into dirty bombs. It’s not outside the realm of possibility, science, or reality. Again, intel that we get is an insignificant drop in the bucket compared to what Trump gets. I don’t agree with him wholeheartedly, not even on this war, but I do see the benefit of being the ‘bad guy’ that actually follows up threats with action. That *is* what I voted for…maybe not on this particular issue, but on putting action behind the endless words everyone else has given. For more than my lifetime Iran has been threatening the US and *every* President since then has spoken threats but done nothing except giving Iran money and no-telling how much else through back room deals and such.

Trump doesn’t care if people hate him, ridicule him, or in other ways disregard him. He just wants to do the thing everyone else is too scared to do and get it done. He has said that if Iran twitched wrong he’d be bombing them for more than 40 years. And, well, according to his intel, they twitched wrong. We don’t know that this is an ‘endless war’ and while it hasn’t been a planes in the air kind of war, the threat thereof has been plain for more than 40 years. So does it really count as a ‘new war’ or ‘starting a war’ when *every* President for 47 years has said Iran is a threat that must be met or contained? Even losing candidates ran on “Iran is a threat that I will meet’ because, until Trump actually put action to words, everyone KNEW Iran was a threat that needed handling. Now all the sudden people are acting like Iran is 2nd place from Utopia and Heaven combined full of holy innocents and peace-loving leaders. Those 37,000 Iranians murdered by their government were just a blip on the screen and not a sign of deeper rot. The horrible laws against women, attacks on women, and sexual predation codified into law is just a Western misunderstanding…remember ‘tolerance’ is our byword nowadays. BS of the highest order. Iran has been a threat for 47+ years. Trump decided to end that threat the best way he knows how based on the intel only he has access to. Has he done everything right or correctly—of course not! He’s brash and impulsive (especially in speech), so yep, mistakes have been made. Yes, people that shouldn’t have died have died and even he’s not bragging about those deaths…although his enemies celebrate those deaths because they’re another stick to poke at Trump and beat at his supporters. I’d rather spend $2B a day actually doing something rather than the untold billions sent to Iran and their allies in the hope of ‘keeping peace’ while allowing them to build stronger and more powerful means of attack while they also support & fund terrorist attacks on us and our allies. Sorry if that makes me a ‘warmonger’ or kissing Trump’s ‘ample @$$’, I’ll take the name calling in the hopes that this will end with the US showing strength to deter further aggression not only from Iran, but also from others likely emboldened by our cowardly leaders of the past. Will it turn out perfectly—absolutely not. Will more people die—sadly, of course they will. Do I agree with every aspect—nope, but action is better than empty threats most of the time.

Juju's avatar

They started it 47 years ago and over that time have killed more than 2000 Americans. But you know this and you knew I’d answer with that. You don’t have to dig very deep or long to understand why this operation matters so much to our own country and its safety from the nuclear threats Iran has always threatened us and their neighbors with and was hoping to finally be able to use, but also to the Iranians themselves, but apparently you need to argue all of this in Substack comments for your own ego or something. 🙄 You’re a disgusting disgrace to our nation to be defending the IRGC by complaining about us finally stopping them and claiming they were never a threat. What an absolute fool and tool. Are you paid? I bet you’re working for Iran sympathizers because that’s how insane you sound. To assume what we are doing is a waste of our resources. Tell me … did you fight THIS hard with THIS much effort to protest and stop all the fraud going on all over our country abusing our tax dollars and funneling them into democrat and RINO coffers? Stealing our Medicare and social security? Severely creating an untenable national debt? Opening our borders and costing Americans billions of dollars to support all the illegals? Or is it only offensive when our money is spent on worthy military missions to protect our nation and help the Iranians have a fighting chance to gain their freedom? Only someone delusional would think the former expenditures are worthy and not the latter.

You should aim your questions at the actual Iranians, not us. They just so happen to be telling their relatives in the US that they want us to NOT stop. To keep bombing. They KNOW there’s a chance they will lose resources pretty soon here if we need to go after utilities, and still THAT is more desirable to them than continuing under the regime they presently live under. When your freedoms have been ripped from you with the kind of oppression and fear that the IRGC uses against them, at gunpoint or with the threat of public executions, when women are shot in the head simply protesting, when you are hung in the town square for speaking up that you want freedom, you’ll endure ANYTHING to get out from under that. Losing electricity or other utilities for a time is NOTHING compared to what they have endured by their regime. YOU would endure anything too in their shoes, and you friggin know it - but you’ve been spoiled so completely by the cushiness of our freedoms and have the luxury to try to discourage others about this president. What a clown! You sit there assuming your arm chair quarterbacking is logical, correct, and impressive when in fact it’s as asinine and foolish as the idiots that defended Hitler’s regime or complained about getting involved with stopping them.

Stop replying to me. You’re a disgusting turd and I wish to have nothing more to do with you. Now where is my block button …

Dan McCarthy's avatar

Oh Juju - it's a shame you had to resort to this sort of name-calling and foul language like your friend Tel Aviv Dan. I hate to tell you this, but Iran has never declared war against the US and although the Iranian regime is indeed a despicable one, it did not represent a clear threat against the US a month ago any more than it does today. Like Tel Aviv Dan, you seem incapable of any nuance - you think that supporting Trump means you have to agree with every single thing that he does. I have agreed with much of what he has done - and I am still eternally grateful that we didn't end up with that absolute cabbage Kamala Harris in The White House...but I am afraid this Middle East misadventure was and is a grave mistake, and one that will be historically costly to the US population at a time when it most needed its President to focus on home affairs. As a result, Trump can kiss the midterms goodbye, and will become a lame duck for his last two years in office.

Jenna,

Maybe you realize this, maybe it's not quite yet hit, but I'm on here at after 6pm PDT and I see already 340 comments.

My guess is you've reached a new milestone in 'hitting the mark' with your readers.

Yes, many of the commenters are repeat performers (like lots), but regardless of what one thinks of this war, and maybe war in general, you've hit a raw nerve 'target' that's really lit up your audience.

Congratulations, if that's what one is looking for in writing up a "he has risen" right along with George Carlin language school blog/post by POTUS.

Most important to me; blessings to you, your friends/family/loved ones during these most interesting times.

Jenna McCarthy's avatar

I appreciate the note PPIF! I don’t honestly pay much attention to metrics, but I read a while back about being “ratioed,” which in substack parlance means you get far more comments than likes. Theoretically that’s a bad thing, however – maybe because I am Pollyanna – I don’t see it that way. I read lots of things I “like“ and may never hit that heart button… Maybe I’m reading it on my email, maybe I just forget… But to me, commenting without actively hitting the LIKE button does not automatically imply dislike. 🤷‍♀️🩷

Positively Paying It Forward's avatar

To me, there's a difference between 'like' and engagement.

I almost never hit the like button (maybe I'm not a fan of the surveillance state keeping track) but when I read something note-worthy I tend to make my appreciation known to the writer.

In your case, hopefully you get lots of appreciation, if not in comments or likes, but in knowing that we all really appreciate your work, your sturdy spine, speaking truth, and throwing in a little entertainment/humor/fun along the way.

Blessings.

Jenna McCarthy's avatar

I try to hit the heart button b/c I know lots of writers judge their worth by that (and also worry about the ratio thing)... but like you, I'd WAY rather have high engagement--which you can't buy--than high likes (which you can). ;)

A little story of frustration: About 17 years ago, I was living in CA with my son who was 13 years old. Our apartment complex was surrounded by million dollar homes. My kitchen window had a full view of what I called “The Larry Show.” He lived in one of those houses. This guy was creepy looking and he would weld at midnight, sparks flying everywhere. As a newcomer, I started asking neighbors about him. Turned out that he was a meth addict and he had been causing problems in the neighborhood for 18 years!!! I said, “well he has to go!” They laughed and went back to their heads in the sand. Larry’s girlfriend decided to kick him out. First he decided to park in our lot. I told him that if he didn’t leave, he would be towed. He parked his truck right outside the back fence of the GF’s house that was along an alley. I watched him basically make a home in the back of his truck! He would block the trash guys and pretend that he wasn’t in the truck when they honked. They would back out and he would pop his head out through the plastic tarp that served as his roof and door. I wondered why the trash guys didn’t report it. Small town. No real crime. Anyway, I made 35 calls to the police dept. Each time they told Larry to move. He did. For about 6 hours. Back to his spot. Finally, I saw Larry climb over the back fence and I called the police. They arrested him. And he left the area after being released. The neighbors thanked me! I was beyond frustrated. “Why did you put up with this guy for 18 years??” Turns out one neighbor used meth with Larry. So, he had no incentive. But what about the other do-nothing-about-it-except-complain people? I was more naive then. I have since learned that MOST people do nothing. Even when it directly impacts them. Even if they own property that is being impacted. Even if there are safety issues. Even if you back them up. That was not the end of my “deputy duties” while living there for 6 years. It was exhausting! 😄 On one call to the police dept, I said, “you don’t know me. I am not a violent person. But I feel like throwing a grenade into a guy’s yard because he is bullying us.” THAT got their attention. In a minuscule way, I can relate to Trump. The manager of the 13 unit apartment once said to me, “You are one of those people that steps out into the void with others saying they will help. Then you look back, and see them running in the opposite direction.” Isn’t that the truth for a lot of us.

Katherine A. Ranft's avatar

Thanks Jenna! It was actually a very nice area in Benicia, CA. (East Bay SF) 50 feet from the Carquinez Strait. Gorgeous. There were several merchant marines that lived in our building. One day, I asked them, “Where are the men? I am getting pretty tired of clearing out the place and providing security!” They laughed and said, “Well, we go off on the ship for 6 months and by the time we get back, you have gotten rid of the riff raff.” No help arriving. 😂

Everyone so concerned about the President's use of the F word are the same motherfuckers who use it in their daily fucking conversations and are now gaslighting about its use and his death. Sounds to me like he proved, AGAIN, what these stupendously delusional, raving lunatics on the left really are, and that TDS really does require mental health treatment.
