I'm somewhere between someone get a muzzle for him and his hands and dammit, this is exactly what I voted for! At least it's not the rhetoric from the previous administration. And at least he's honest. His feelings are not held back, for sure. But I'm not sure that's a great thing. Lol

Donna in MO's avatar

Same. On one hand, we clamor for transparency. On the other, when we get it, we are like, oh he's inappropriate. We had a general for a president (Eisenhower). Willing to bet he dropped f-bombs on the regular. Truman, from my home state, was known to use 'colorful language'. And so on. We just didn't have social media to know about it.

That being said, it was not a good look, especially on Easter Sunday. But he's a package deal, good and bad, just like the rest of us.

Trump knows that the only way to get through to Iranian strongmen (IRGC) is with tough language backed up by hard action. That is the language of the Middle East. Soft, European-style diplomatic language shows Iranians weakness which they exploit. I am not sure how effective Chamberlain-style diplomacy ever has been. It makes refined State Dept types feel good about themselves, but does it ever work? How well did diplomacy work with Hitler? With Xi? With Kim Jung Un? With Putin? I will take my Prez tough as nails, thank you

Marlene Swann's avatar

Exactly! Half of me is like - hey excuse me but I’m tryin to teach my kids NOT to use that kind of language, and the other half was like if this is really true that his post was an operation in and of itself, to buy time to complete the rescue mission - then THIS IS WHAT I VOTED FOR!

Lynn Barton's avatar

Right? I thought if my kids had used that language they would be in big trouble. And the PRESIDENT is speaking that way?

Jpeach's avatar

IMO Trump’s actions speak dramatically louder than his posts. His posts have many objectives and should not be taken literally. Trump is dismantling the Iran Terror State, the Deep State, neutralizing the CCP and protecting American lives. I’ll take that.

John Wright's avatar

{smile} Yes, it's quite fascinating to find ourselves on both sides of the fence! It's good to have a president alive that does something! But at the same time we are wishing he did something different!

Marlene Swann's avatar

If this really was an operation within another operation, you have to admit it was quite sacrificial to put your reputation on the line to say hey come look at THIS!! to draw attention away from THAT. Shows he put his money where his mouth is - to rescue one soldier. As per his previously proclaimed sentiments… 😊

Trump is a master of deception.

Be calm, maybe chuckle, LTMW (Let The Man Work.)

Brian M's avatar

Trump was channeling his best Gen. George Patton. There are a lot of similarities between the old war general and Trump, don't you think?! Including a number of influential people who wanted him dead (and were successful in killing Patton).

Wendy McNamee's avatar

Let's hope the ones who want him dead aren't successful! And I pray for their souls, because wanting someone dead is just vile.

Dubby Rose's avatar

Ha! Trump can't die! Robert DeNiro has assured us that Trump will never leave office. Trump may be insane, but DeNiro is a font of wisdom and clarity. Therefore, Trump not only can't be dead but will remain alive and in office until the mind control aerosol spray that's afflicted so many of us clears up, I am relieved to say. Funny though, how so many people are capable of diagnosing Trump's mental health when these same people to this day have seen no sign of dementia from Biden.

Dan McCarthy's avatar

The tweet is so bad, I hoped for Trump's sake that he *was* hospitalized and that an intoxicated nephew had gotten hold of his phone. Like yourself Jenna, I hoped to God it was not real. But alas it was. It is damning, and shows the world how desperate he is, having gotten himself (against the better judgement of all of those who supported him, people like myself and people like Charlie Kirk who took him at his word when he said "no more wars") into an impossible situation just like we said he would. Trump *is* indeed alive. But in the coming days he may well wish he was not. This is not going to end well. Israel Firsters will be delighted, but for the rest of us, this is a very sad moment.

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

He never said no more wars. You are a liar and your silly and wishful prognostications are gaslighting BS.

What he did say was he would never let Iran achieve nuclear weapons. You'd do well to STFU AND LTMW.

Dan McCarthy's avatar

Oh dear, Dan 100% all in MAGA. You share my name, and you share my (former) zeal for the man who you want to be allowed to keep working (if "work" is what you call kowtowing to Israel). You call me a liar, and yet here I am with the receipts. Just one of *many* times Trump promised not to start any wars. I look forward to your apology.

I had a media free weekend, so I’m glad I can catch up reading Jenna and Jeff Childers. Wow! Not a fan of the President using profanity in his tweets.

KatWarrior's avatar

Ditto, Roberta! Thank God for Jenna and Jeff to do the heavy lifting!

Having just read Trump’s deafening post, I am surprised, but not shocked.

The deception worked and I am certain that Trump doesn't give a rat’s arse.

How about those peptides! NAD+? Big Harma obsolete, anyone? Bueller?

Tom from WNY's avatar

I can appreciate Donald Trump wanting to focus on the rescue of the second airman vs. all other stuff. I can imagine his celebration when the operation was successfully completed without casualties.

As far as informing the Iranians that Iran will be wrecked if they don't open the Straits of Hormuz, well.... he did it in Trump style.

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

Want to know who else is a bad ass?

Marco Rubio. He just ordered Solemani’s niece and her daughter to be detained and they will be deported back to Iran. They’ve been living here enjoying green Card status.

Meddling Kid's avatar

This is why we have had a history of communists as presidents masquerading as democrats. Most of you who call yourself centrists and thinkers can’t handle the reality of someone being honest. “Oh he’s such a nice man even though he’s a bit left.” “Oh I don’t like him, he’s so rude, no decorum.”

Do you not realize that behind closed doors, every one of them has the same potty mouth when the screws get tightened? Do you not realize Carter was barking f-bombs when the hostages were taken? Wake the f up. Just because someone expresses their anger publicly doesn’t mean they aren’t the best person for the job. We’re all sick of politicians, and finally a leader comes who proves he can do the job and you reject him on his manners???

If you think he’s a pedophile, you’re insane. If you don’t like his language, toughen up, because rape and murder is far worse than any words, and that’s the only export of a country like Iran under Shia leadership.

If you don’t like globalists, then by definition you don’t like Shia Islam, or any Islam really, because they are hellbent on world domination. Learn your history and then maybe you have a right to comment on someone trying to keep the nukes from being used.

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

For those who don't understand how Islam works or its globalist goals, listen to Raymond Ibrahim talk about its history of conquest: within a few hundred years after the Middle East had become largely Christian, Islam swept in and turned the region into muslim territory by mass executions of Christians and the burning down of their churches. Then it headed for Eastern Europe.

Ibrahim's most important influencer has been historian Victor Davis Hanson.

DJL's avatar

I think he’s a badass. There is more going on behind the scenes than we know.

Gordon Jackson's avatar

Could be. Trump could not be doing a more effective job of taking down the deep state (i.e., draining the swamp) if he were explicitly trying to do so. When all of this is over there's likely to be:

* No more Israel

*No more US military presence in the Middle East

* No more NATO

* No more petro-dollar

* Ukraine completely under the control of Russia and unavailable to the DS for bio-weapons manufacture and child trafficking

At both inaugural addresses Trump cast himself in a self-sacrificial, Christ-like light, saying: "I do this for you, the American people." Maybe he knew that self-immolation of at minimum his presidency would be the price of accomplishing the mission.

Meddling Kid's avatar

You used the term “self-sacrificial, Christ-like light”, so I’m going to assume you are a Christian or at least aware of Christian teachings.

But many Christians do not read enough to know that once Israel was re-established, it will not cease until the new Heaven and new Earth. You either have to believe that or reject the entire Bible, there is no middle ground.

Other than that, there will be many tribulations until the Great Tribulation and the Day of the Lord, which may or may not be during our lifetimes.

NATO can suck it since they have become useless anyway, but the petrodollar economy won’t change anytime soon.

Gordon Jackson's avatar

I don't believe that I have to believe your interpretation of the Bible. No oil coming through the Strait of Hormuz will be traded in petrodollars, probably from now on. And if Trump follows through with the threat of war crimes in his Easter post -- a vile insult to the inclusive and peace-loving spirit of Christianity -- then there won't be any oil coming out of the Gulf states to be traded in any currency for a long, long time.

Lynn Barton's avatar

I thought the post had to be fake. But it wasn't. One commentator suggested that it is war propaganda, part of Trump's persona of being unpredictable to the enemy. They pointed out that he has been very disciplined in this war and it doesn't make sense that he suddenly lost it. I still didn't like it. But on the other hand, the guy is a genius. There will never be another Trump. I just pray that he doesn't become reckless and believe he cannot fail. There's a difference between confidence and and arrogance and I can't tell with him.

Christopher Arnell's avatar

It’s MSM’s Dream. They are trying to Self-Talk this into reality.

Heather B's avatar

I might be the only one who thought the tweet was hysterically funny. "Praise be to Allah." On Easter, which Muslims do not celebrate. What a troll! Also I thought he was channeling his inner Patton. (Patton swore all the time and people didn't like him doing that. He thought it was necessary for his war time persona.) Nothing he does surprises me any more.

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

I agree, well said. LTMW. And remember this the elite - meaning the grifting lunatics on the left - will say and do anything to destroy or at least hurt him, the admin, and those of us who support him - I think about 80 million voters, not including those the left stole in their failed attempt to manipulate the outcome of the 2024 election.

Heather B's avatar

I went over to FB this morning and saw this after I already posted. By Sid Miller:

To those of you fretting about President Trump's profane message to Iranian leaders, might I direct you to something once said by the great Gen. George S. Patton, Jr.

“You can’t run an army without profanity; and it has to be eloquent profanity. An army without profanity couldn’t fight its way out of a piss-soaked paper bag.”

Patton said the use of swear words was part of cultivating a "war face."

This is not a church social or high tea -- this is war, folks.

Steven Bradford's avatar

Firstly, X has become a trash can of garbage posts by bots and dopes and no longer worthy of the time it takes to sort through it. Secondly, I believe President Trump is merely giving the religious lunatics running Iran a taste of their own hyperbole, and he’s showing the world how fanatical, illogical, irrational and unreasonable the mullahs and IRGC are, as they would risk their lives, their civilian infrastructure, and the wellbeing of millions of innocent Iranians rather than negotiate a ceasefire.

Freedom Justice Happiness's avatar

Why should they trust a lying , paedophile, rapist who attacked them just because Israel told him to? Iran had recently agreed to allowing full access for nuclear searches and its leader swore to never have nukes - Israel has not signed the nuclear nonproliferation treaty and refuses to be involved in being assessed.

DJL's avatar

Proof he’s a lying pedophile rapist? And CNN commentary doesn’t count

Freedom Justice Happiness's avatar

Epstein files - you been under a rock?

Meddling Kid's avatar

You are delusional if you believe that and Shia Muslim would say “We forever give up our plans for nuclear weapons. We mean it this time. We’re finally being honest.”

This is an insane death cult we’re dealing with. They don’t want the bomb for the same reason Russia and the US want the bomb - to scare each other into never using it. No, they want the bomb so they can nuke Israel, kill as many Jews as possible, and start WW3 so big that it initiates End-of-World proceedings. You can’t reason with that. The only way to combat that is to kill everyone with that ideology. But you can’t kill an ideology, so it’s a forever task.

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

It's an insane death cult that I believe was created by Satan, who always finds a way to make an opposing mirror image to God's creation.

Meddling Kid's avatar

Amen. This. ^^^^^^^

Freedom Justice Happiness's avatar

You do understand Iraq didn’t have wmds , right? And you’re believing the same shit twice? They lie for wars - don’t you get it? It’s the greater Israel project

Meddling Kid's avatar

What do we know of WMDs? They are typically thought of as two types - nuclear and biochem.

We know, for a fact, beyond argument, that Saddam gassed the Kurds in ‘88. We know they had chemical weapons, but I wasn’t there so I didn’t see them myself so they didn’t happen?

What makes you think that Saddam didn’t also want to develop nukes? Just because “someone reported” that “they” couldn’t find evidence doesn’t mean that evidence wasn’t covered up. Just as you DON’T BELIEVE what they said about WMDs, I DON’T believe what the CIA reports about NOT finding WMD’s. Given the CIA are professional liars, I like my chances of being right.

Do you work for a gov funded (TAXPAYER funded) NGO? It sure reads like it.

Tim Pallies's avatar

Is attacking civilian infrastructure a war crime?

George Bredestege's avatar

First, one would

need to locate the “Book of criminal warfare”, if it exists.

Second, when the enemy does not recognize things like the Geneva Convention, what ties our hands?

Tim Pallies's avatar

As to your question, I would prefer that we recognize the GC simply because it’s the right thing to do.

As to Iran recognizing the GC, the closest AI I could find says: “1949 Geneva Conventions: Fully ratified and in force for Iran.”

Michael Bunte's avatar

Yes, it is. U.S. and Israel have committed multiple war crimes in my lifetime, and especially lately. Imagine, if you are Iranian, your leaders go to the negotiating tale, having already agreed to many demands, and then having your leaders assassinated. Yeah, there is nothing about the U.S./Israel coalition that is honorable or virtuous.

Tim Pallies's avatar

Sure looks that way to me.

Great post Jenna. I laughed at his posts first, but was taken aback at the Allah. Only Trump can set these kind of fires.
