Speaking of Bill Gates... I can't believe that HE is still alive.

With all that is known about him, it seems like a lot of people and a few countries would be happy if he were to 'disappear'.

We've been hanging around the pool this weekend, grilling, listening to music, and taking the kids/grandkids to get ice cream. This is the first news we've heard of Trump.

And to think 20 to 30-something % of the US was optimistically excited about the President's rumored death. They truly have no life.

Sadly, I think the 5th generation warfare used by the media and our deep state broke a lot of peoples minds (includes members of my family). I hope that they eventually recover.

As a real liberal, in the true meaning of the word, I think we need to stop referring to Democratic voters as liberal, they are technocratic totalitarians. In the past election real liberals (they believe in personal freedom, like free speech) voted for Trump.

Expand full comment
Bgagnon's avatar

Yes! Classical Liberalism is a thing of the past!

Expand full comment
Mehitabel's avatar

I agree. Let’s stop referring to them as liberals because they’ve ‘evolved’ way past the meaning of that word. But, while we’re at it, let’s also stop referring to their party as “democratic”. Using the adjectival ending to the word implies that they and their policies are so much more “democratic” than those who believe otherwise. I feel like the use of that form of the word implies to unthinking members of the public that the jackass party and its programs are more “democratic” and, therefore, more worthy of support. Just my two cents worth.

Expand full comment
Susan G's avatar

Rush Limbaugh began calling the party the Democrat Party years before his death. I adopted that verbiage. I admit it still uses the root which infers that the party supports democracy, which we know is false. Maybe just call the party and its members "Crats".

my sister (my only sib) is full bore TDS. you should have seen the uncomprehending stare I got when I dared to suggest that she explore some less-biased, independent information sources. after she commented that "Soros is a 'convenient scapegoat' while Putin is pulling the strings on our elections" !! like she's one of the half-dozen people in this country still believing that shit! Argh!

yes us 'real liberal' did vote for Trump and this one thinks he is dropping the ball, sadly. :(

Expand full comment
Bob Brown's avatar

If your sister is one of a half dozen still believing in Russia gate, I think the other 5 are in my extended family :)! Sadly I think the 30% who still take the MSM somewhat seriously have no clue.

Given the election was a choice between living in the USSR or the USA, there was only one way to vote, wasn't expecting wonders from Trump. Just dropped that he is now questioning operation warp speed which a breakthrough. Overall I'm disappointed some things are not moving as fast as I would like, but a lot of things are at least moving in the right direction. Hopefully we get consequences for the all the criminality and the people who earned it, end up in jail.

I get LDS when I read these stories. (Lib derangement syndeome). I need a break from this asinine mentality that appears to be everywhere and it is scary. I meed to laugh at it more but if feels threatening as if the freedoms I enjoy are at risk from these people. The majority of my friends are libs, as I was once one, and it is scary to see the descent into wanting to win at all costs. They truly believe Trump is against our Constitution and ruining democracy and I can't even see how they believe that. Most likely because I don't watch same news sources. It is also alarming when friends that don't know each other begin saying the same catch phrases. Honest question for anyone who was once a dem and has dem friends: how do you find other like- minded people to befriend, esp when you live in a lefty county? I think I need to move from CA....

The appreciate/hate divide about Trump - world-wide - is kind of like a crusader/saracen version of the believer/unbeliever chasm.
