So she disagreed w/ Charlie on almost every level? She didn’t agree with him on what exactly?? Being a good person, supporting family values, supporting strong men and not labeling everyone toxic masculine? He was kind to the LGBT and trans community. He simply questioned them and their choices. There’s nothing wrong with that. There’s nothing wrong with asking questions. He made people think. That’s the scary part to these so-called progressives: that we can actually think for ourselves and we don’t have to follow the leftist, liar, sheep agenda. I sincerely doubt whether Jamie Lee Curtis actually ever listened to a single word that Charlie Kirk ever said

Curtis’ entire opinion about Charlie was based on his lgbt beliefs. That’s the 3 rd rail, the litmus test of the left - you must believe & support the mental illness of others or die.

I bet she never did either, but look at the tweets on Bluesky. I always kind of liked her but this has been a disappointment. I didn’t hate her because she was a liberal. She seemed more human than most of her ilk, was funny and let her face assume the position of her age as well. I do hope she is squirming inside because of her pathetic backstroking.

they have to say, “ I disagree on almost/ basically every level” that’s the line. So she said it still wasn’t enough!

Bingo! They never listen to anything the (so called) right says. They must follow the Looney Tunes Lunatic Doctrine or off with their head! Never ever have empathy or compassion for anyone that doesn’t comply with the Doctrine.

These people live in their Holly-weird bubble. What a sad and horrible way to try to exist!

But we live in a society that pushes ‘adoration’ of ‘celebrities’. A case in point, just look at Taylor Swift and how many young girls, venerate and adore her, want to “be like her” have her as their so called “role model”. It’s disgusting.

This is probably the most disgusting thing someone can do. Saying you're sorry for being human to appease a group of people with the morals of a snake is just gross. And I can't believe it has become far more popular to celebrate someone's death than to feel sad for the loved ones left behind. Makes me want to vomit. This is why I shut down my social media accounts. I can't see that crap every day and not be affected.

So glad I never got hooked into any of them. Sometimes I have to back off substack as well. I had FaceCrap for a couple of months and then wondered who these people were and why would I care to know anything from them. I had better things to do than push the like button. (I don’t mind that here, of course)

Frontera Lupita's avatar

I know what is it with Substack these days? Since Trump became POTUS there’s a lot of ‘unhinged’ (mentally) folks on here now. (Even in our ‘side’ of things.) Even few trolls as well.

People are popping up on the Substackers pages I have been following for years, who I don’t recognize. I got into a crazy exchange the other day with someone who I had never seen before here on Substack.

She said she thought a Substacker I had linked a post in the thread about the NoKings protests and who was funding them, was “one of the nasties”. I asked her to clarify what that meant. We went round and round, she went off on all these other tangents and never really answered my question. I pressed her for a concrete answer, she had a meltdown, erased all her comments and mine as well in the thread, and then blocked me from looking at her Substack page! You just can’t make this crap up I tell ya.

Oh there’s always the ‘usual suspects’ on various Substack’s that you recognize their name or their ‘handle’. If you have been reading their comments for a few years now, you get a fairly good picture of where ‘they are at’, on issues. Like people know where I’m at that’s for sure!

Expand full comment
Janet's avatar

Exactly. I’m familiar with our community. I’m sure many are familiar with me. Some I just scroll past as I know who they are. Sadly, I can never share substack with anyone else I know. Just the comments would push some acquaintances off the cliff. This is the only place I can talk. There is so much derangement everywhere. It’s depressing sometimes.

Expand full comment
Frontera Lupita's avatar

Oh so sad that you have no one in close proximity that you can share stuff with. I have a lot of Substack chums, but I do have a few new friends (in the flesh) in my orbit that think like I do. The ‘friends or acquaintances’ that I had before, that who no longer aligned with me and my thinking, I let go of over 5 years ago. They are just way ‘too gone’ for me to even want to have a casual conversation with them anymore.

My guess is Jamie Lee never listened to Charlie speak in any context. Like a true denizen of Hollywood, she’s just parroting what she’s heard from “others”. But isn’t that what actors do? Just repeat words they’re given? It’s not like we’re talking about, by and large, the sharpest knives in the drawer.

I don't think she had a moment of reflection or humanity at all. She made a mistake. She mistranslated what was to be the official emotion. She thought it would be "I hated him but it's unfortunate that he was murdered". Turns out it was "Yahoo, the SOB is dead".

Grace is such a uniquely Christian concept.

We really shouldn’t be surprised when the radical progressive “snake” bites off another piece of its own tale. Godless cults must have their “purity” rituals! 😂Remove Christ from your path to enlightenment and these are your fellow travelers on the “wide road”.

What’s frightening is our propagandized ignorance and collective pursuit of comfort over responsibility, has left these cultists pretending to be Democrats 2-3% points away from having control of our government any given election. 😳

The whole covid era showed that most people will put their careers ahead of doing what is right. So it is not surprising that actors who just want to be popular would do the same. What is sad is that most of the country has woken up and Hollywood hasn't yet.

Some good movies are being made outside Hollywood, like Plandemic. Also look forward to "The Rash" that was written by Walter Kirn.

Literally reading between the lines in the "little black box" insert from reddit, I found what Entirely Sums Up Progressivism for me:

"All she had to do was keep her mouth closed."

"Don't think. Don't ask. Don't talk back. 'They' have already thought this through. How can you think you are better than, or even as good as, they?"

Luckily, the Clinton Stratagem (deny, and keep denying until it's off the front page) will work perfectly with her target audience who after all are self-selected to ignore reality and will merely pull the covers of fantasy back, tighter, over themselves.

Edit: I just-now redd across this tercet in Dante's Purgatorio (the trilogy of which I am assailing and recommend to all), Canto XVII, lines 13-15, as these things are styled, and reckon it a more ancient explanation of human capacity for self-delusion:

"O thou, Imagination, that dost steal us

So from without sometimes, that man perceives not,

Although around may sound a thousand trumpets..."

My edition is a translation by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow who, although having to dispense with Dante's exquisite, but complex, rhyming, nevertheless was able to maintain the difficulty in understanding of the original. If any could point to a more approachable translation, I would consider myself "a boon down."

This is all so absurd on so many levels. It's always been interesting to see how the opinion of celebrities matter more than your average person, until their opinions don't align with the narrative.

The Overton window is so obvious for certain topics and the one for the Kirk Assassination is that it was definitely real, not staged or produced at all, and there was nothing questionable about it whatsoever, so we should accept it as it is and focus on the extreme reactions around it so we are properly distracted on how this incident is being used to manipulate and control the masses even more.

I'm not someone prone to starry-eyed fandom, but I have been disappointed to find out how many authors and entertainers are both not very bright and/or complete moral cowards.

Curtis is really missing out on one of the very best parts of this time of life; not giving a fluffy fart what anyone thinks of you. "Your opinion of me is none of my business" is the most freeing place to be.

(Always, in my mind's eye, I see Kathy Bates in Fried Green Tomatoes, smashing the hell out of the VW Beetle! 😂)
