What Really Happened to the Florida Learjet?

You’ll never believe this, but the Internet thinks it’s not what they’re telling us.

Four days a week, I show up here to inform, entertain, and occasionally make you snort coffee out of your nose—all for the frankly reasonable price of absolutely nothing.
The fifth post pays the bills.

An annual subscription works out to about 30 cents a post and I even throw in a free signed book. If you can’t swing it or aren’t sure you like me that much,
free content will resume tomorrow. :)

Unless you’ve been enjoying a nice election-week digital detox, you’ve heard about The Crash. On Sunday, a private Learjet traveling from Austin to the Bahamas spiraled dramatically from the sky in Palm Beach County, Florida, killing all nine people aboard. Minutes before things took a horrifying turn, the crew reported ice and “moderate turbulence” and was given the green light to ascend to a higher altitude.

And then—for reasons yet to be determined—all hell broke loose.

“We’re descending 8,000 feet per minute,” the co-pilot can be heard telling air traffic control in heartbreaking released audio. “Mayday, mayday, we’re descending 10,000 feet per minute. Declaring emergency, November-seven-two-two-bravo-delta, we are in an overspeed condition descending 20,000 feet per minute!”

The escalating panic in her voice is haunting. In fact, unless you have an especially hearty appetite for human suffering, I do not recommend listening to the entire exchange.

When the jet met the earth—reportedly less than seven miles from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago compound—the only thing more cinematic than the resulting fireball was the powder keg of What Really Happened™ theories that exploded across social media.

I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO COVER THIS. (It’s worth it. Promise or your money back. ;)
