The fact is, there are too many of them to ever get through the legal system in 3.5 years. A legal system that is deliberately dragging its feet and throwing obstacles in Trump's way. So clearing some low hanging fruit for $1k each is just a smart move. It saves wasting ICE time and precious court time and allows them to concentrate on the serious cases that really need flushing out. Once again, Trump displays common sense and pragmatism - it's a big yes from me!
I agree wholeheartedly with you, Dan. Some 20 million illegals are not only too many for our courts to handle but are also too many for ICE to even begin to find. So, I think ICE should go after the criminals and the gang members, and those who are working and obeying the laws (other than the law they broke when they walked across the border) should take the offer from Trump and go home. And paying them to leave is cheaper than tracking them down and arresting them. As you pointed out, the pay to go plan is pragmatic. I can tell that because as far as I know, the Dems haven’t objected to it. They’re still mad about arresting criminals.
Of course the left wing doesn't begin to understand this. After all, TRUMP is the one who is doing it, therefore it's evil on its face. Most Democrats seem about a bright as a flickering 10-watt lightbulb, about as sharp as a 12-lb. bowling ball, and about as authentic as a 13-dollar bill. Personally, I think this is yet another brilliant move to get the ILLEGALS out of our country.
A sweet old lady takes in a stray cat. She then finds another. Someone hears she’s sweet to kitties, and brings her two more. She’s so content with her 4 fuzzy friends. She nurtures them and adores them. She dotes on them. One has kittens. Now there are nine. She’s over the moon. She fosters 3
more. Nature happens. More are born. She’s still enjoying her sweet
life.
More arrive.
Before she knows it,
her bliss begins to fade. She has a hard time giving attention to each feline friend, keeping up on feeding and litter, and seems to spend more time in the pet aisle at
Walmart than actually
petting…
Eventually, she’s getting 2 truckloads of food and
litter a day, but some of the cats have begun to be somewhat feral in spite of her intentions. The Amazon man won’t drop off boxes on her porch anymore. Cats escape
when she’s hauling in cans. Tom cats arrive. Her house has that smell… Her clothes do as well. Cats have peed in corners, on mattresses and the
sofa. They’ve shredded the lazy boy. The knick-knacks from the mantle are long broken, replaced by towels for cat comfort. The lady is weary, but loving. She doesn’t mind the smell and the few disrespectful cats. Most are still sweet to her. Yes, she’s scratched up and is frequently woken up in the night to howling and fur flying. The floor is sagging due to the urine soaked carpet. She’d like to buy new carpet, but how could she possibly crate the now 23 cats long enough to do so? Neighbors drop off more
cats. She forces a smile and takes them in as well.
Nature happens again and soon she has 44,
she thinks… It’s hard to count when they’re running around, fighting and shredding curtains. She makes sure they’re fed, have water, litter, toys and…now she primarily eats tuna as well. At least, she thinks that was tuna…? She hasn’t time to wash herself, work in her garden or get her hair done. Still, she cares for her charges. There are 57 cats, she thinks…She’s running out of resources and can no longer buy litter. The Amazon man hates her, is tired of being scratched, and can smell the house from 6’ away.
Nothing of value is in one piece. The cats are not content. Some are sickly
but seeing the vet is out of the question. Most of the
cats are bullies now, as they are forced to
fight for limited food. The sweet old lady wrings her hands at it all. She feels
so helpless. She asks others to help her—perhaps some
of the people who dropped
off cats to her, all smiles and hugs?
Nooooooo, thank you, they say! But they wish her the best. Some give her a little money which she knows won’t last the day. They are all circling the drain.
The sweet old lady is in despair. The home
is in disrepair. The situation is dire.
The cats will one day be homeless again, for she knows she cannot
Unfortunately, I really know of women living this exact nightmare… So sad!! And the folks dropping off their cats, should be charged with felony animal abuse & forced to pay hefty fines to get this woman a new home & fix all those kitties & find rescue placement!
I believe it serves a particular swath of illegal immigrant who was lured by religious and globalist groups to leave their country. During a global pandemic. So much propaganda, so much manipulation. My mind was blown to discover an app was built and distributed (with a free cell phone!) by our government {and the church} to guide caravans of people here. Literal welcome packets distributed! How is that even possible and not being “constitutionally challenged?” That said, I do admire the brilliance of the repurposing of the software to guide them right back out. Bizarro world 🌎 have to work the problem from different angles, I guess.
I think it’s brilliant. Cynical, but brilliant. “Hey, look - I offered them a free ticket and more cash than they make in 3 months at home, but they still won’t respect our laws! Whaddaya want me to do now? Don’t we all agree that we’re a nation of laws, guys?”
I have purchased foreclosed homes online and sometimes the occupants dont leave. Yes you can get the authorities involved but that could take 3 months of never having filed the right stuff. The most efficient way is .to offer them $$ to get out and quick. It works.
Commoncents, EXACT same scenario. They are going to cost you in time, or in money.
(I'm curious to know what percentage, in your opinion, were "professionals" and what percentage just found themselves in the situation. This is along the lines of my opinion that we have PROFESSIONAL illegals and people who just got caught up in it; same crime, different motivations, and imo, levels of guilt.)
Incidentally, back in the day, when movie rentals were all (Warning: dinosaur crossing) "tapes", EVERY SINGLE ONE of them featured a label, "Please Rewind Tape." I argued unsuccessfully with my local library, my preferred tax-supported "free" rental service, to change the label to "Please DON'T Rewind Tape." My bet was that a**holes who NEVER ever rewound a tape in their execrable lives would then rewind tapes, at least, once. (The Goody Two-Shoes of course would also continue to rewind it after they watched it.)
I am surprised at the vitriol about this cash option - I'll admit it raised my eyebrows at first, but it does seem to make sense and definitely seems more humane than arrest & detention centers - allowing people some agency in this. (I am aware that for many "humane" wouldn't factor into their thoughts on this.)
I work in a school in a neighborhood with a lot of illegal immigrants. There have been raids and people taken away by ICE. And many the parents are now terrified to send their kids to school - attendance is way down. I am seeing the human side of this up close - it's my first experience really SEEING what this looks like for the people here illegally - any my heart aches for them. I understand they came in without permission - but I'm feeling so sad for these sweet kids who now are worrying about this all the time - this isn't their fault. And I think that's where the left is stuck. It's hard not to think about it and feel that it's horribly unfair to the kids, and it feels cruel to just say "Well, their parents shouldn't have come illegally." I think the cash incentive might be the easier alternative for families like this - who might otherwise be rounded up, separated from their kids, thrown in detention centers in an ICE raid.
These parents came here for a better life - and found it - and then found that they can't actually keep it without following the rules - and these poor kids will suffer for it. I feel really sad for them. I'm not saying that blanket immunity is the answer, but I'm not sure what if any nuance can be allowed for as immigration and deportation policies and procedures get settled. I know a lot of folks will say, hey, that's what happens. It is just really sad to see.
Beautifully put and I can't imagine the heartache. It's not as if there's one solution that is both humane and just. Which is why we MUST make it harder to come here illegally in the first place, right???
Indeed. Really sad and difficult--but those aren't reasons to not enforce the law. The world must see that there are definite consequences to breaking and entering the US of A. Enforce the borders, deport as many as possible. Families are routinely broken up when the parents commit crimes. It's terrible, but does that mean we ignore the crimes? Take the children with you. The children can return--as US citizens if born here (crazy, if you ask me)--when they are old enough to look after themselves. Or they can stay with other, presumably legal, friends or relatives.
Yes, close the border, shut down the NGO’s & so called non profits ( including some religious institutions) that actually profit off the misery of human beings. 350,000 missing children living in unimaginable conditions is outrageous, thankfully Trump’s DOJ seems focused on finding them 🙏. Trump’s incentive plan is another pragmatic move to get an almost impossible job done of removing millions from our country humanely. He also wants to avoid the horrible optics of removing families with masked ICE agents in military gear. MSM would have a field day regurgitating those optics & working nonstop to weaken the resolve of the American people who voted for Trump to do just this.
It is truly sad, especially for the children. but this is real life, and there are no easy answers. Those parents made choices, and are now feeling the consequences. Sending them home with cash is the kindest thing we can do for everyone involved.
I also feel sad for many young people I know who were born here to families who've been here for decades. Many of our young can't find affordable housing. 10 million let in by Joe & Co. can't help but make the housing situation more dire.
The housing problem is HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The UK and Canada especially are being crushed by it. Keep pumping in millions of illegals? There is no way the market can adjust.
In Canada's case they aren't illegals - our liberal government brought in huge amounts in the last 10 years. The population grew by 16% - 5.7 million people (in a country of 35 million (size of NY state). The growth was from immigration both permanent and temporary. Young Canadians can't get hourly jobs because the government reimburses companies 30% for their foreign workers. We are in SO much trouble. Our media is paid by the current government - so it is propaganda 24/7. Our "elbows up" liberals (mainly boomers) have TDS so bad they'll do whatever the MSM tells them. Have pity on us!
Actually, it’s my understanding that our liberal government here in Canada is using taxpayer dollars to subsidize 70% (not 30%) wages of entry level jobs. There are many young Canadians who cannot find work because pay has been subsidized for immigrants only
“…but I'm feeling so sad for these sweet kids who now are worrying about this all the time - this isn't their fault. And I think that's where the left is stuck.”
I think you give the left way too much credit. This plan to flood America with illegals was, in no way, related to care and compassion. It was a brazen attempt to ensure they have electoral dominance in perpetuity., and they were/are absolutely counting on the fact that Americans will shy away from the actual hard and sad work of deporting children. There is no other reason for flying illegals into the country in the dark of night to various regions of the county, as well as providing billions of dollars to USAID who then funnels it to “charitable” NGO’s that assist in this illegal process. That’s not even taking into account the other “conspiracy” theorie around the Great Replacement.
I don’t disagree that this is a terrible, unfortunate outcome; however, the only way around that is allowing everyone to stay, which was the mistake Ronald Regan made allowing 3 million to obtain green cards. Now we’re up to who know how many (no one does), but estimates range from 16-29 million, an untenable strain on a country that has a current national debt of $36 trillion and rising.
We’re going to “compassion” our way to economic collapse.
I should clarify - I can't speak at all for the left in the GOVERNMENT sense. I'm talking about the INDIVIDUALS I know who strongly identify as left - that's who I meant in terms of what they're thinking about - the human cost - the compassionate side. I agree that what's been happening as far as how so many illegal immigrants got here, is a whole other story.
Carrot and stick incentives have been used forever. Seems reasonable to use them in this situation too. Here, we will be nice to you leave... don't leave... well, we aren't going to be so nice!
It's the Pay Me Now-One Last Time Plan, in contrast to the Pay Me Later one Uncle Joe imposed, which was the scheme to import, wholesale, "popular demand" for Socialism-with-a-capital-S.
In your analogy, you could decide to call the cops. Fine. The guy complains. A federal judge in Massachusetts intervenes. It doesn't matter where YOUR house is: it's "federal" you know--because the Constitution? And <something-or-other> RIGHTS <blahblah>" (the only time the word Constitution is ever trotted out; no socialist has EVER grasped the contents). The judge rules that "everyone" is responsible for helping "the poor," and YOU are the best place to start. With that "win," the guy invites his sisters, and their children, over. You finally decide, because justice is blind--and particularly stupid--to pay the guy to move out. It could be worse; the judge could decide he's been there so long, uninvited, that he's gotten used to the place and deserves palimony... Just like after the lesson you learned helping that prince from Nigeria launder his inheritance through your checking account, you lick your wounds and picture how much worse it could have been, considering.
Two stories come to mind.
A large family was living, ever more crampedly, in a homey hovel somewhere in eastern Europe. The man went to his rabbi, "Rabbi," he said, "here is the situation." The rabbi advised, "Buy a horse." The man was astonished, "A horse? What? A horse you say?", but he went and bought a horse. Then he returned to the rabbi, "What now?" The rabbi said, "Move the horse in with you." At that point the man went straight to incredulity, "You CANNOT be serious?" However, trusting in the rabbi, who had never steered him in any bum direction, he did as instructed. Six weeks later, any rabbinical wisdom inherent in the act had still not jumped out at him. "Rabbi!" he exclaimed, in that combination of frustration and consternation I covered in my comment on the previous post, "the situation has now become IMPOSSIBLE! We cannot go ON!" The rabbi, reaching deep down into his well of wisdom, replied, "Sell the horse." When the man had accomplished this, he returned immediately with the news, "Oh, THANK you, rabbi! We have more room NOW than we never had!"
If there's a point, it might be that "wisdom sometimes comes out in the side effects."
A second story is this one much closer to home. Our daughter is getting married, the last of the marriables in our fambly. As she and her affianced live in another state, they are handling the arrangements--and I am handling the second mortgages. She called wanting to "talk to Mom," who was out, so I suggested I might know a thing or two, if she wanted to take a run at that. She unburdened herself to me in this way: she'd invited an entire family of seven, but only three had RSVPeed, BUT--the rub was--the fly in the ointment--the burr under the saddle--the vinegar in the milk--was that ONE of the three WAS NOT INVITED (a "crasher," a "buttinsky") and "merely" an "other" to one of the two others coming. (In the Midwest, taking a date to a wedding is actually a great way to kick-start the general idea of matrimony "someday," and also to demonstrate to single people in other states that you personally are cool with the idea). I had some GREAT "Dear Abby" ideas which I offered before I hit, Trump-like, on THE advice: "How many did you originally invite?" "Seven." "How many are coming?" "Three." "Take the GIFT-of-four they've given you, and don't look a gift thing in the mouth."
If there's a lesson here, it could be that "when you know it's going to cost you something, try to arrange things to take the least hit."
I think Trump views this as an expedient maneuver, with the emphasis on "speedy." It will be hard for advocates to make the case that people who WANT to leave should be prevented. I'll even take off my cynicap for a moment and try to imagine that YUGE numbers of illegals didn't think deeply, at all, before joining the parade, and in my opinion anybody fitting that category need not be punished by being banned from ever applying again, although they need to go to the back of the line. I trust, because I have to, that the new "vetting" system will give new applications the consideration they merit. We don't REALLY want to keep out brilliant people who got caught up in mass hysteria. Why there are even readers here you've welcomed who were part of some very foolish stuff who finally came to themselves.
Re: the $1,000, American taxpayers of course will NEVER receive $1,000 of "free" money from the government--because any such would only be PART of monies taken away from them by threat of imprisonment, so I understand the sense of wrong. What's most important to keep in front of our eyes is that the ILLEGALS are ALREADY costing us multiple-thousands of dollars a day. Like the lottery payout, only a lot different, the amounts you get (or pay) depend STRONGLY on the time-frame you choose. If you want the largest payout, say $1M, straight up, you get a smaller payment ($1/year for a million years in one old joke), or a smaller payout if you want it this afternoon. Because lotteries don't have MILLIONS sitting around for YOU (only for GOVERNMENTS); what YOU get is a stinking ANNUITY, that's supposed to be worth millions SOMETIME, depending on interest rates, and government solvency, etc.
America's bleeding from this burden. Trump is paying off the mortgage early, that mortgage that Uncle Joe arranged.
$1K is a bargain, are you kidding?! Aside from the manpower dollars it takes to deport an illegal, how much $$$ has each alien cost us in terms of healthcare, public schooling, food stamps, "free" cell phones, prison, etc.??? (BTW I loved that last line: "That's Expedia." LOLOL)
I love it. I am so supportive of any humane measure designed to create an entry system that is ordered and equitable. I have concerns about people with student and work visas that are being arrested by ICE and sometimes brutalized. I really wish that illegal would mean illegal and other means of coming here legally would be honored. We have friends and even family by marriage, who are suffering from what I believe is overstepping this line between illegal and legal.
Having worked with international students coming to the US, ostensibly for college, but in reality to go underground and stay long after the student visa expires or is terminated for non-compliance, they know how to exploit the USCIS system. I believe they saw me as incredibly naive as I attempted to aprise them of the laws/rules governing their status.
We had over 15 million illegals enter the country under Biden's open border policy. We also have activist Judges trying to prevent their deportation. Bush deported over 2 million illegals with ZERO court injunctions. Obama deported over 3.2 million illegals with ZERO court injunctions. So far Trump has had to deal with around 20 trying to stop his deportations. DHS has initially targeted criminal and violent gang members for deportation, plus those evading active deportation orders. These are not nice people. It seems obvious to me that this progressive response is more about resisting Trump than is about trying to fix the problems created by President Auto-pen. It may be time to issue a very targeted suspension of habeas corpus for criminal illegal aliens. The left will howl but there is historical precedence for such an approach.
I agree. Far cheaper to have them self deport, especially after we’ve spent thousands on housing, feeding and supporting these illegals.
The Board Seconds The Motion! Mic Drop!
Of course the left wing doesn't begin to understand this. After all, TRUMP is the one who is doing it, therefore it's evil on its face. I have a friend who literally is this ^^. I am not joking.
Unfortunately, I really know of women living this exact nightmare… So sad!! And the folks dropping off their cats, should be charged with felony animal abuse & forced to pay hefty fines to get this woman a new home & fix all those kitties & find rescue placement!
Sad. Horribly sad, how quickly good intentions can become overwhelming, unsustainable nightmares.
I was just painting a pic of what our nation may look like if we keep taking in new cats. I mean new illegal aliens.

"A nation’s empathy must be matched by its capacity. Otherwise, it’s not humanity. It’s negligence wrapped in a justice bumper sticker."
I love it! So well worded.
Yes! That was my favorite,too..
😝🎯 NAILED it and then some!
It’s pragmatic, efficient,
generous, compassionate, exhibits creative problem solving, thinking outside the box, win-win, —-you know, all the things we
long for our government to
be, but are typically sadly disappointed when said government falls
far short of that goal.
But we can’t cheer. Why? Because Orange
Man BAD!
Can we get a list of all the countries that pay illegals to leave? I have a new vacation plan.
"Hey Trump, I snuck in from France, give me my $1000 and a free flight France."
"Hey France, I snuck in from New Zealand, give me my $8,000 and a free flight to New Zealand."
"Hey New Zealand, I came from Tahiti..."
"Hey Tahiti, here is my passport, I want to go home to the US".
Hahahaha not a bad plan... ;)

I think it's brilliant. Any evidence if its working? I know Sweden is kinda desperate to get rid of its out-of-control immigrants.
