These people will find anything, any reason at all, to fan the flames of their agenda. It's asinine and I hope more and more people wake up to the reality that life isn't supposed to always go 100% in your favor. Get a life.

Tim Pallies's avatar

And it's key to remember that a "100% your way" system can easily flip to a "100% against you" system because the infrastructure is already in place.

John Wright's avatar

This is an extremely important point! "Absolute power" can be wonderfully beneficial, but it also can be extremely dangerous. We humans need to learn balance!

Wendy McNamee's avatar

Truth. But don't let the left know that. It might cause some common sense.

Occam's avatar

It's devolved into a simple process to get "likes" on tiktok.

So performative vacuity.

Two years ago, she might have had a chance of gettng B&N to commit public penance. I suspect we're past that these days.

America is naturally socially conservative - we've just been hijacked by idiots. We're reversing course as we speak.

Wendy McNamee's avatar

From your lips to God's ears, my friend. I pray you're right.

John Wright's avatar

What? You mean I can't "win" every single time? Oh, say it isn't so! I'm such a victim. 😇

{sarcasm}

Wendy McNamee's avatar

John, your participation trophy is in the mail and should be arriving shortly. 😂

John Wright's avatar

I shall treasure it forever! 🏆

Indrek Sarapuu's avatar

If you lose an argument;

"I'm the victim"

If sane people disagree with you;

"I'm the victim".

The left owns victimhood...

GregWA's avatar

To lose an argument, you'd have to make one.

Not something the Left is interested in anymore.

Skenny's avatar

Some find it easier to scream, call names, and chant mindless slogans than to pause and think.

David Nelson's avatar

...while preaching victimizing everyone who disagrees.

Lana Gridley's avatar

There are actual grown ass adults out there that have never been told "NO". Hard to believe, but true. ( got the sarcasm, but I just had to say this)

John Wright's avatar

Adults in age only, not in mentality.

The overarching question is: Why can't we just ignore these misguided creatures? We can acknowledge them, ("Yes person, we have different books than you are accustomed to. But we also have another aisle you can walk down. Yes, it does lead to the basement, but you may find it more to your liking since the lights are off." But as a store manager or a corporate person, let's not give them attention.

MaryAnn's avatar

Went to my local B&N to buy a NKJV bible. That section wasn’t in the basement but it was as close to the floor as the shelving would allow. 😖

Wendy McNamee's avatar

I agree with that completely, but unfortunately the rest of the woke people don't. It's their time to shine when it comes to complaining.

A call for unity and grace in on this day memory of Martin Luther King Jr.

"We must learn to live together as brothers, or we will perish together as fools."

"The person down the street who votes differently than you is not your enemy. They are your neighbor. They worry about the same things you worry about. They want their kids to be safe and their bills to be paid and their country to be a place worth living in. They have been manipulated just like you have been manipulated, fed a different flavor of the same poison, sorted into a different tribe by the same algorithm, pointed at you as the enemy by the same people who point you at them.

The working class Republican and the working class Democrat have more in common with each other than either of them has with the billionaire class that funds both parties.

You share the same struggles. You face the same rigged systems. You are being crushed by the same economic forces that have transferred more wealth upward in the last fifty years than at any point in human history. And instead of uniting against the people doing this to you, you are screaming at each other on the internet about pronouns and flags and whatever fresh outrage the algorithm served up this morning.

This is exactly what they want. A nation at war with itself cannot resist a takeover. A people consumed by mutual hatred will accept any authority that promises to protect them from the manufactured enemy. Every empire that fell was divided before it was conquered. Every free people who lost their freedom were set against each other first.

The red versus blue war is not real. It is a show put on by people who own both teams. It is professional wrestling and you think it is a real fight. The wrestlers go backstage after the match and laugh together while you are still screaming at the guy in the other section who was rooting for the wrong character.

This Is Our Country Not Theirs

This nation belongs to the people who live here and work here and raise families here and will be buried here. It does not belong to billionaires who hold citizenship in three countries and will flee to their bunkers the moment things get bad. It does not belong to tech oligarchs who view democracy as an obstacle to efficiency. It does not belong to foreign interests who have purchased so much influence that they might as well be writing our laws themselves.

We have to stop letting them divide us. We have to start seeing each other as fellow Americans again instead of enemy combatants in a culture war that was manufactured to keep us weak. We have to remember that the person screaming at us online is also a victim of the same manipulation, and maybe if we stopped screaming back and started talking, we might realize we have been fighting the wrong enemy this entire time.

Turn off the television. It is not informing you. It is programming you. Question everything, including the sources you trust, especially the sources you trust. Talk to people who disagree with you and do it without trying to win. Listen to why they believe what they believe. You might discover that the monster you have been told to hate is actually just another person trying to make sense of a confusing world with imperfect information, exactly like you.

Remember who you are.

You are an American. Your ancestors came to this land or were brought to this land or were already on this land, and regardless of how they got here, they built something together that was supposed to be different from the old world’s tyrannies and aristocracies. That project is not finished. Every generation has to fight to keep it alive against the forces that want to drag us back to a world where a handful of rulers own everything and everyone else serves at their pleasure.

Stop letting them divide you. Your enemies are not your neighbors. Your enemies are the people who profit from your division and are building machines to replace you the moment you are no longer useful.

Start acting like it before it is too late". —The Wise Wolf

I was in a B&N in Stamford CT last week. There was a large table with Kamala's book on display. I'm proud to say that it did not trigger me, lol.

These poor people need to get a grip and move on. I feel sorry for them because the woke BS is what they are "fed" every day on their social media apps.

John Wright's avatar

But think of the poor trees that died so that Kamala's book could be printed! A tragedy! Definitely a tragedy. Organize a protest! Have a tantrum! Make a Tik Tok video! 😇

Trish's avatar

Hahaha, good one!

John Wright's avatar

Shsssh... don't tell the trees about my personal library. {grin} Not all of my books are good books either! I'm sort of like a bookstore... a bit of this, a bit of that. Reading that which you don't agree with can be educational. However, you won't be finding me buying a book on Kamala!

David Nelson's avatar

John, a tragic waste indeed considering that the general sense of Special K's book could be gathered without damage to trees by simply going to any-random-place-that-already-has-some-books and reading random snippets from books opened at random.

Roberta Stack's avatar

There is a bookstore in Wellesley, MA that doesn’t sell a lot of the books that I want. I used to love this place until the Plandemic. I wanted to buy The War on Ivermectin and a few others on my list. They didn’t carry them so I asked them to order them. They were reluctant to do so, but did. I stopped going there because they had a ridiculous mask policy as well as only a few people could enter the store at one time. I occasionally call and ask for some books I know they won’t carry. I order from Amazon or directly from the author or publisher.

Laura Kasner's avatar

I called my library and asked them if they had The War on ivermectin. Of course they did not. So I asked them to order it for me and suggested to the guy that he read it.

I never went in to pick it up. And I never planned to 😃

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

Since books began to be published about vaccines and the m-RNA shots in particular, I have been placing them in our library in memory of people I am convinced who died from those shots. Our library removed all its Dr. Seuss books, so I can't be certain whether the books I bought are actually on the shelves.

Occam's avatar

mwah, love this

It's juvenile, but genius.

Graphite's avatar

I suggested to my library that they order "Cause Unknown": The Epidemic of Sudden Deaths in 2021 & 2022 by Ed Dowd... And to my amazement they did!!! - In Canada - Nova Scotia LingOL - I went to request to read it and I was 7th in the queue haha!

Laura Kasner's avatar

Nice! I’ve have given out so many copies of that book. I even left a copy on my airplane seat once. Too big of a book to ignore and just throw away.

Dena's avatar

So smart Laura!

Cat Thompson's avatar

We need to talk more about the addiction of being offended.

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

My favorite t-shirt says: "No one cares if you're offended."

Mike Doyle's avatar

l like "I am offended that you are offended"

Cat Thompson's avatar

hahaha, someone needs to start selling that. Preferably a camel-toe safe length lol

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

I bought it somewhere about a year ago but I can't remember where! Maybe Babylon Bee, but I'm not sure.

Graphite's avatar

Awesome haha...

Don't make light of this, Jenna. I think she has grounds to file a hurt feelings report.

Tim Pallies's avatar

In the U.K. that could lead to jail time.

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

Your post,Jenna, reminded me of a recent display of Left Wing-Ding butt hurt: a Minneapolis anti-ICE mob went after a legal immigrant who was wearing a shirt with the word FREEDOM on it. Apparently supporting freedom means you're a Nazi or a racist or MAGA.

Jenna McCarthy's avatar

🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

David Nelson's avatar

What should woke immigrants wear? "CAPTURED?" "BOUGHT AND PAID FOR?"

MarciaT's avatar

When I first read this line: “The poor thing may have sprained something in her race . . .” I read “race” as a noun instead of a verb- and wondered (for a brief instant) how one sprained their race - although I do think we’ve seen lots of evidence of people spraining the whole race issue. Brilliant as usual, Jenna. I don’t know what we’d all do without your sane - and hilarious - take on the world these days.

David Nelson's avatar

MarciaT, I followed the same track, and thought, "Yeah, 'race sprain.' That's what I've got all right. Or rash."

MS's avatar

I read it as sprained her face...

MarciaT's avatar

Oh, that’s a good one too - it does look sprained! - but don’t they all!!

Tim Pallies's avatar

"So instead we get a too-familiar series of events."

With an important ommission! Where is the gofundme to help her adjust? I am going to set one up later. For now, just send cash directly to me. I'll get it to the poor lass somehow later. 😂

Jeff Johnson's avatar

My eyes are hurting from all the eye-rolling I'm doing as I read this, so I hold you responsible, Jenna! LOL

John Wright's avatar

Eye exercises are healthy! 🙄

Jeff Johnson's avatar

Yes, but this allows for no variation in the exercise! ;)

John Wright's avatar

You can always look forward to "rolling over in your grave". 😇

Barnes and noble used to be one of my favorite hangout places... I loved the diversity and richness of the literature they featured. The past few years however, it's been so disappointing and unfulfilling because they now feature so much weirdness and not as much depth. Never realized I should call corporate and complain!

Kate's avatar

Same here. I used to love the peace and serenity of Barnes and Noble. But then about 5 years ago it seemed that all their books were left wing. Did i make a Tik Tok proclaiming my outrage? No i did not. I just quietly quit and have not been back.

Justin's avatar

I had to use them to order a book that Amazon didn't stock locally, but wouldn't say that. It kept throwing address errors, and I finally had to call when it happened across 3 computers, 2 accounts and 5 different browsers.

The book? "And Then They Prayed" by Barry Loudermilk.

Is an incredible book about how prayer was invoked and used to bring about miraculous events in military history.

The shipping from B&N seemed rather excessive. Not sure if it's their standard cost, or if they check Amazon on the back end, see the error, and charge more because you can't get it otherwise, if I live in a "rich" area, if it was a book that's "not approved", or it was close to the holidays.

Valerie's avatar

‘So much weirdness and not enough depth’ honestly describes all discourse in our society these days. No depth, no nuance, just surface level ideas that can be thrown around to inflame.

YourGalapagosGullfriend's avatar

You can try that, but BN corporate pays lip service to neutrality and local politics.

I have reached a level of complete exhaustion and intolerance of these woke retards. How are they actually inhaling oxygen on their own and not on an iron lung? They’re too stupid to be breathing. These retards need to get out and get a hobby or maybe do something to give back to the community. Go pick up some litter. Go clean up the waterways. Volunteer at a retirement home. Do something useful other than Constantly pointing out how everything offends them. It’s old, it’s boring and I’m so fucking tired of it.

Tom from WNY's avatar

That requires physical labor and personal commitment. Progressives aren't inclined toward either.

Has someone opened a “Give Me Money” page yet because of the hurty words she had to endure on a piece of card stock? She looks a right sour puss.

John Wright's avatar

Yet another reason I'll never have a Tik Tok account.

Let us hope that sanity reigns and bookstores remain able to sell books without nutcases having a mental breakdown (and potentially doing something violent or illegal).

Bluebird's avatar

OMG. Where is this B&N?

I want to go there and applaud the manager.

Gee that survey was easy. (-: Could there be any other answer? Well I guess if you live in Wokeistan.
