I had a friend recommend some kind of pellet hormone replacement therapy to me, curious what you use. I’m not on anything and really have no complaints but it would be nice to have a bit more spark going on.
Thyroid, estradiol, progesterone are capsules. Testosterone is a topical cream. My friend who got me to look into it does the pellets. I don't like that approach at all for 2 reasons. 1. I don't want to have an incision done every time I need a refresh. She had activity restrictions when they would do her insertions. 2. Simple geometry. Your dosage is not steady because of diminishing surface area over time.
Do women need all those meds? I'm 75, my free T just tested median for a 45 year old, total T 25 year old level. Red meat, high intensity, strenuous exercise, and limiting sugar works for me, a male. Enough sleep helps too, and control stress best you can. Seems like a good idea for either sex. Red meat appalls some, which is their loss. My wife is 70, never had hrt, and is still hot. You don't have to turn into an old hag. At least not by 70.
Those won't cure osteoporosis. I'm a red meat fan and workout very consistently. I am genetically cursed for bone issues. Paternal grandmother died of the dreaded broken hip syndrome. My dad has severe osteo and has been doing the "phos-drug" route, and I refuse to take that horrid medicine. What I am taking are technically not "meds." They are natural (not synthetic) hormones. Estradiol is the key hormone for keeping bones strong. If you don't produce it anymore, this is the only way to get it.
Genetics matter for sure. You sound like an exception though. Don't you think most who take hormones are pretty normal biologically and could do smarter, healthier things to address hormone levels? Medical intervention can be warranted, but I see it as a last resort, not the first. Kudos on your lifestyle. You might be working out effectively, or you might be all doing all cardio, which is a big mistake. Mixing in some short duration, extremely hard stuff is best.
I work out with a trainer for strength training as well as my own cardio. I believe it depends on mental and physical well-being. I was also having psych issues related to hormone depletion. I was seriously on the verge of leaving my almost 40-year marriage based on the fact that my mind wasn't right. Three months into bHRT, I was stunned to realize that all of that had vanished. Here we are 6 years later enjoying each other's company. I literally cry every time I tell that story by reliving the insanity that I put my husband through. The problem WAS ALL IN MY HEAD and has not resurfaced. I had no idea that was possible, so no "placebo effect."
