My point is, if our government feels we’re so flush with funds we can keep shelling it out to foreign countries, why is a little aid to American citizens such a problem? I happen to agree with you that our debt is a real problem and should be addressed first, but the reason our debt is so high is the government is so profligate with OUR money. How about a $5,000 federal tax credit per U.S. Citizen. $1.2 Trillion of recovered Government Fraud or Tariff Revenue must be documented, to pay for it.
How about a $10,000 tax DEDUCTION for US citizens instead, such that it would only be collected by those still paying over 10k in federal income tax, rather than a credit collected by those who pay no tax at all and are a net drain on public funds.
The Trump Administration could set up a PR Campaign that tracks and counts recovered Government Fraud and collected Tariff Revenue. We would root for the Trump Team to bring in the $1.2 Trillion, to win our $5,000 tax credit. If FanDuel can do it, the Treasury can do it.

On one hand, the extra money will definitely be spent (hopefully) mostly on goods and services in the US increasing the economy. On the other hand, it will raise the national debt. Which would you rather have: more money chasing goods and services or more national debt?
My brain just exploded when thinking about the tax implications. Tax on the $5,000 about 20%. Tax (state tax if applicable) on what you buy with it is anywhere from 1% to 6%. So you're not really getting $5,000. You're getting roughly anywhere from $3,760 to $4,000. Don't even think about the erosion by inflation on that money. Your brain will definitely go bonkers!
