Same. I was in Costco yesterday and saw a big display of Dubai (expensive) chocolates. On the way there, saw a sign at a local convenience store saying "We now have Dubai chocolates". There was a Dubai chocolate bar at the checkout of a grocery store last week...for $9.99!? I texted my plugged in to pop culture zeitgeist daughter and said "WTF is the deal with Dubai chocolate?" Her answer "it's the new IT food" So all this to say I have no idea what is going on out there, LOL!
I keep seeing Dubai chocolate everywhere too, and it just seems to be chocolate with pistachios or pistachio cream. I mean, ok....I don’t understand the hype.
is that what its supposed to be? pistachios? the one I had didn't taste like any kind of nut I've ever had. (I am really into baking as a hobby and like adding all kinds of nuts - most recent adventurous recipe was dark chocolate, macadamia nuts and tahini, so I don't mind 'outside of the box'.) but Dubai... phooey.
The NYT did a huge spread on it this summer, which probably gave it a boost. A few months ago I started seeing it in Valero stations for $20/bar. The bars I’m seeing now often say “Dubai-style”, so others are doing these knock offs that are selling for $9-10. According to the NYT, it’s such a sensation in Dubai, it sells out by mid afternoon every day.
Dubai chocolate is a TikTok thing. A 32-year-old female friend told me. She spent $60 on Dubai bars (using SNAP btw) to film me on a beach breaking one in half for a brief video. I had no idea what was going on, only that the chocolate was good but I got sick from all the sugar pretty quick. Sugar f's up the brain, that much is certain. 🤷♂️
I guess I don’t go ANYWHERE as I have never noticed them…but,I’m not a candy/ sweets eater,so, would not be paying attention…now,if freshly fried organic, free range chicken was being sold at checkout stands, I would be a serious customer…
It’s at every checkout counter in the grocery store where I shop right next to the checkout and where I pay for groceries. Hard to miss it. Also it’s in the windows displays at ABC stores which are on every corner in Hawaii.
I agree with your point, but I also think "re-writing" history is also very real. As one example I'd offer the currently more or less accepted version of our own civil (not really) war.
What "accepted version" are you specifically referring to? I know of many accounts of the Civil War but in the minds of the American public that war served a noble purpose, unlike let's say the Mexican War which has all but been forgotten.
I've done lots of research for years on the (un)Civil War. The war actually started due to tariffs being placed on the South, which never should have happened. Tariffs were for foreign countries. South was very wealthy at the time but the usual suspects (the ones we're fighting now, the industrialists/deep state who only cared about making huge money) wanted to build industry in the north so they could make even more money. In order to do that, they needed to bankrupt the South. Most of the South wanted to end slavery but first needed to figure out what to do with the slaves, after all, they had no idea how to survive in modern society. They couldn't read or write and having a job was foreign to them, they came from the jungles of Africa. Federal govt had been placing huge tariffs on the South since 1830s and had had enough of it, govt wasn't supposed to do that. So they rebelled. For Southerners, the war wasn't about slavery issue. They already knew they wanted to end it. Lincoln is on record saying he didn't care if slaves were freed or not.
Have you read all the primary sources or are you depending on accounts written by historians who have points of view, biases in other words. I taught American history for 34 years at the University of Pittsburgh and took my degrees from PennState (as long as we’re comparing credentials).
I've spent a lifetime researching all kinds of different sources. Sounds like you only know the northern viewpoint, not the south. There are numerous historians with multiple degrees who have spent decades researching Civil War who would disagree with you. I know this because I've read their books. I'm not taking sides in this, I've looked at the Civil War from both sides and lived in both Calif and the South. I, too, have advanced degrees and also am a graduate of Ole Miss where I learned a lot about the South from Southern viewpoint.
The “actual “ fighting began when Lincoln armed Fort Sumpter in the spring of 1861 The tariffs were only one of the many causes of the Civil War. In the main, the most important causes were decades of disastrous attempts to compromise on the issue of slavery, the Abolitionist Movement, southern censorship of materials being mailed to the South, but the biggest issue was slavery itself. The South ceded from the Union in order to preserve slavery, with tariffs being a minor factor. After all, the South had the support of England who continued to buy southern cotton until the northern blockade became effective. The important thing about causation in history is that nothing is ever caused by one tho; there are always multiple factors. I didn’t even begin to name all of them in the case of the Civil War.
The statement you attributed to Lincoln was taken out of context; what he said was that irrespective of the slaves remaining free or slave, he intended to put the Union back together. He viewed secession as unconstitutional. By 1863, however, he had decided that slavery was immoral and that the slaves must be freed.
Sorry, no, South didn't secede due to wanting to keep slavery. I've researched this topic all my life - I'm 71 y.o. I've researched both sides, north and south. There is far more to it than you might think. One of the things is that the Rothschilds and their industrialists wanted to create industry and they wanted to do it in the north. South was very wealthy and had to be taken down so they could build up the north for industrialism. South wanted to end slavery and most Southerners did not have slaves, it was a minority so it doesn't make sense that South wanted to continue slavery. I wasn't born in the South but live here now and I've heard both sides. Also I was taught in 6th grade that Civil War started due to tariffs, not slavery. Those were the days when truth was taught in school. There is far more to the Civil War than most people realize.
The most obvious is the idea that it was a civil war. That's not true as far as I know. The south did not seek to rule the north, but merely to secede. Also, I think we as a society tend to gloss over some truly horrific war crimes by soldiers under General Sherman. At the least, in my mind, they reduce that "nobility" significantly.
That said, I'm also not happy with DJT's bombing of alleged "narco-terrorists" in internation waters. Even the new scary label strikes me as absurd. Maybe 5 years from now it will be "dynosaur-narco-terrorists," to make it even scarier.
War crimes were committed as well by the Confederacy.
I support Trump’s war against narco-terrorists. American presidents are absolutely permitted to defend the country against people who are in essence invading us. I don’t think there is anything “alleged “ about it.
Whatever war crimes were committed by the South, it was nothing compared to what Gen. Sherman did in his "march to the sea". He burned every bit of land he could get his hands on which meant poor farmers, who never owned slaves, couldn't grow anything on their land for years. Who knows how many Southerners died from starvation because of that?
How does one decide which horror is worse than any other. Both sides were guilty of horrific crimes. And after the war, across the South the KKK organized and terrorized both freed slaves and Republicans.
I don't disagree. That is what happens in "total" war: you target the civilian population. There is also Andersonville, the Confederacy's prisoner of war camp where 13, 000 Union soldiers died. Andersonville was designed to hold 10,000 prisoners but at its peak held 33, 000. Cruelty took place on both sides, the usual case with civil wars.
The shadowy cabal is very real. Honestly, I’m tired of the trolling, triggering, continued division for division sake. Is this where focus and energy needs to go? Where is the actual leadership? I’m still reeling over Epstein and all the wars we’re still in and starting. And the economy! Our children can’t afford a family- it’s deep state 101.
My comment is not the popular one here… but I’m being honest.
So, you have identified a potential problem. Yes, solutions are what we hopefully place people into power for, but we see how that works out. What I ask is for you or anyone else to articulate some workable solutions. I don't know what possibilities exist as I am only one useful tool. I am not saying this to offend you or anyone else, I just want useful ideas to be proposed and discussed.
Well for one let’s stop pretending that there are 2 parties. The people are in different camps - at each other’s throats, by design- while both sides wage war and pass spending bills that are totally out of reality while our middle class disappears!
No disagreement here with the parties statement. Voting out everyone in power and voting in who? Not much for a choice and only a one time fix. I am all in favor of term limits, but that would require a constitutional amendment and the people in power would need to make that happen, not likely they will cede power. I'm not sure what the solution(s) are, but I think it is very useful to have a dialog amongst those of us that are being governed. We all need to keep talking.
It’s a lousy feeling to see the manipulation, feel the consequences in our own communities, and, feel very little ever really changes, for the better.
The power we have is always “in the moment “. That is our opportunity to use our God given choices to make that moment the world we crave. I choose to believe (,pray) that THOSE little ripples make a difference…
Over 100 years ago, fraternal orders were ubiquitous. For membership fees, they provided all sorts of services to their members. Medical care was one.
But they provided that service at lower cost and eventually various cartels formed, like the American Medical Association, to shut down their competition and sully the reputations of the mutual aid societies.
I think the Freemasons WISH it had significance, but so far their globalist plans have been met with more resistance than backroom handshakes can overcome.
appropo of nothing: the quite large Mason Hall building in my city has just been put up for sale. I don't think there had been anything going on there for several years. apparently Masons are no longer a thing in industrial NW Indiana. maybe they all just go up to Chicago for their shindigs. idk.
I was in it once, almost 30 yrs ago, as I was hired to clean it. it was slightly creepy but I didn't know a thing about Masons back then. all I knew was that our elementary PTA used to use a small rental hall in the basement cuz one of our members' husbands belonged.
my dad was a mason, I was in Rainbows (a mason girl's organization). We met once a week & it was just like a church service. We had a prelude & postlude, sang hymns, someone spoke on a relgious theme, prayers were given. Once a month, we had initiation (we all wore formals w/gloves, high heels, etc), it was based on the colors of the rainbow & a Bible passage was recited as they passed each station. Very Christian atmosphere. I enjoyed it, I was in leadership & never saw anything underhanded. My dad wouldn't have been a mason if there was anything odd going on.
I do tend to believe that the rank & file local members treat it like any other local civic organization (around here, its the Catholic 'Knights of Columbus', Elks club, Lions club, etc).
even the biggest of the 'conspiracy' buffs admit that the 'iffy' shit is all way at the top, top of their structure. otherwise its just another social networking thing, at the local level.
I said other. It is a mix of a bold rejection and peak Trump trolling.
I agree that this should be about history. Like it or not, if it actually happened we should be aware of it and learn from past mistakes.
However I believe we have already had our history rewritten long before and what we think we know is really just "His Story" just like the bible's of each religion.
God knows the truth and it is inside each and every one of us until they poison our souls and hide the inner truth.
Great article today. First prize in the LOL category goes to: “…all while throwing Illuminati gang signs and herding ceremonial goats.” 🤣 Thanks for the morning giggle
Probably because right above there was a mistake in the Simpson’s meme, I loved Jenna’s posting the cat meme about misspelling! Perfect timing for a laugh from me!
Too many are wont to blame some shadowy cabal for the current malaise. Yes, there is a deep state. Yes there were bad actors behind the autopen, and so on. But when a local government launches initiatives to align with WEF 'sustainability goals' because they got fed funds to do it, and 4 people show up to protest in a city of 100K, THAT concerns me more than some illuminati behind the curtain. If you are concerned, you have to show up. Act. Vote. And speak out. The current malaise is on us as apathy seems to be the default setting.
The only Mason I knew for sure was my uncle Earnie. He gave us a whole box of Hershey Bars at Christmas that our Mom would carefully dole out over the holiday break. Our FAVORITE uncle. Lol. I’m so far off the “Narrative Grid” that I had no idea this tempest in a teapot was going on. Please proceed, Mr. President. 🤣😉😉😉😉. Back in 2020 I missed the Floyd psyop and in 2021 I didn’t know about January 6 until 2 days later. I wasn’t on substack then or any other social media (still not). Thanks, Jenna, for softening the blow of our nutso culture, always, with so many laughs and good sense.
first I'm hearing any of it as well, Janet. my exposure to corporate media happens as I walk through the room where my 87 yr old mother has it on. she's usually dosing in her recliner ;).
I briefly caught some of the phony outrage over the 'ballroom', the other day. correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the Obama's have a bunch of stuff done to the White House while they were in residence?? doesn't every president?
I only hear it when I walk by my husband’s man cave. Or when he tries to turn on NPR or progressive radio in the car. Nope. It was going to self destruct when Truman moved out for a few years and it went down to the studs and reconfigured. The left has no sense of scale or proportion left. Because they have NOTHING real citizens want. Tough to be them on the 20 side of 80/20.
Obama tore up the tennis courts and put in a basketball court and spent a ton of money doing it. Hillary stole a bunch of furniture and artifacts I think, but she got caught and had to return them.
Chelsea tried to act holier than thou about the ballroom until the memes started about what went on in the oval office with Bill and Monica.
All the outrage is exhausting. Every statue that was taken/toppled down needs to be put back up. Is this the start of his Garden of Statues (I think that’s what he called it 🤔) he has talked about?
Actually, President Trump is building the Garden of Heroes.
This may or may not include statues, but it WILL have the story of all those who gave all to save the Republic, aka These United States of America, up to and including names, dates, their actions, their sacrifices (life, reputation, status, etc.), and how they contributed to saving the Nation, from its beginning to the present, most notably between 2016 - 2026.
I totally agree that all the outrage is exhausting.
Probably why I try to take emotion out of the equation and look at things logically, as in EXACTLY how is this contributing to President Trump's mandate from The People, his Agenda 47 (which is easily found on the goog), and WHY do the things he does matter in the Big Picture.
Spoiler: the WHY is to teach The People about how their country actually works (and has been working which goes against how it was supposed to work laid out by the Founding Fathers) because as he stated in his first inauguration, this isn't about transferring power from one party to another, it's about transferring power back to YOU, The People. NO sense doing that until the People understand that power, what to do, and what NOT to do to have, and KEEP, a truly free Nation, Of The People, By The People, For The People.
Quick surprise quiz: Name the three branches of government, what are their roles in the Republic, and why are they to be kept separate? This matters.
The BONUS here is the antics he does to "out" the Jackasses, aka all those in the midst of outrage because their status quo is being dismantled right before their very eyes.
PLUS, it makes for good memeing, so there's that. LOL.
Way I figure it, those who rage the most about what President Trump did or is doing, is the exact target audience he wants to spot light and expose, both foreign and domestic.
Bro;;oamt Jostpru :esspm! (Sorry, right hand was one-key too far to right...) Brilliant History Lesson!
Unfortunately, the "three branches" PARTY with each other FAR easier--and ROWDIER--than the Founding Fathers could have ever imagined. What each branch REGULARLY tolerates of the other two would have been "the stuff of second revolutions" back in the 1790s.
You are onto something. Given Trump's relationship with Barron--and I think I should turn that around--it could well be that Trump has given up on other generations as too set in their ways and may just be determined to save Barron's--and dragging everyone else along.
I fully believe whole-heartedly that what President Trump, his Team and THE TEAM are doing is far bigger than most truly realize.
I believe they are turning the entire ship around to the actual Constitutional Republic it was always meant to be - One Nation Under God -for ALL the People, whereby No One is Above Another, ever, and all are equal under the Law, including the Jackasses that corrupted the institutions that people were taught to trust.
What the Founding Fathers, and all those after didn't have, was The Bullhorn of the Public Square whereupon dirty deeds done at the expense of the People, were never outed. Never fully and never factually. This has changed.
And hey, if a President and Commander in Chief is able to save the Nation to save his son, and all those that will come after, bring it on!
All rising tides lift all ships. Even the little dingy's on the outskirts.
Thanks for the history lesson on Pike and the statue. If this triggers TDS sufferers, it’s just another glorious Sombero Moment.
I triple dog dare you to put a sombrero on that statue.
😂😂😂👌
👏🏻👏🏻
I honestly DGAF, about the statue, the Masons or the reason it went back up. If this is a Trump nipple twist, great, if it isn’t, also great.
Trump Nipple Twist is a great name for a band. TNT!! 🤘🤘🤘
TRIPLE N. T. ! (for the oblig ambig).)
First I heard of this going back up…sort of glad as that means I haven’t been sucked in by the noise that much this weekend!!

have you tasted them? they are icky. some kind of tasteless crunchy shit, like shredded wheat in/on them. just a fad, imho
Thank you for the heads up on how they taste. Now I can ignore those if I encounter them. Sorry you were one of the guinea pigs.
Yes, pure shitty hype lol
No - haven't tried yet. Love chocolate but not enough to pay $9.99 for a bar that wasn't even a pound!
I keep seeing Dubai chocolate everywhere too, and it just seems to be chocolate with pistachios or pistachio cream. I mean, ok....I don’t understand the hype.

Yes, the Dubai chocolate is everywhere. Won’t buy it

The taking down of the Pike statue is another example of losers trying to write history when in fact, it’s the winners who write it, like it or not.
Well said, Mary Ann. Winners write it all.
LOL, history’s losers complain about that all the time.
TAW
I agree with your point, but I also think "re-writing" history is also very real. As one example I'd offer the currently more or less accepted version of our own civil (not really) war.

Me too, SteveO! You just have to love Trump for fecking with the sickos, loons, and lunatics. Bam 💥
I knew zilch about Pike and thanks to you, Jenna, I received a history lesson with a side of laughs😂
Please, please, God, keep the hits/meltdowns keep on keeping on. We need to laugh! ALOT!
Great article today. First prize in the LOL category goes to: “…all while throwing Illuminati gang signs and herding ceremonial goats.” 🤣 Thanks for the morning giggle

I agree JuJu! Laughed very hard. Jenna is the best!
And I heartily concur! 😻
That WAS the best!
"Act. Vote. And speak out." I'd feel much better if I thought your formula had any impact. Sadly, I have none better to offer.
(omg that Chelsea is sooooooo cringe! Momma's 'mini me' or what?)
🤣👏🏻😂 perfect description!
I do believe that the woman is getting a fat check from the Gates Foundation to go around pharma-whoring for jabs. ;)
Teaching moments IMO.
What a time to be alive.
There will NEVER be another time like it!!!

Jenna - think your explanation is spot on.
I seriously think a bronze statue is way better than so many real people these days.
Love this post! Master of the three ring circus - Trump always wins. Jenna you are the master of snark, satire, et al. I love laughing! Thank you!
He missed an opportunity to melt the statue and make a new bronze penny with his face imprinted on it. Instead, his head is on a pike.
