I think that Joanna Maciejewski nailed it:

"I want Ai to do my laundry & dishes so I can do art and writing - not for Ai to do my art and writing so I can do my laundry and dishes."

THISSSSSSSSSSSS.

I want only Rosie the robot. And perhaps a chef robot. That’s it

We also need one who can do reflexology and give foot massages.

Human energy exchange is better for the healing arts.

Can we get the Swedish Chef AI? I'd be cooking all day.

Suzanne O'Keeffe's avatar

Perhaps you didn't see the memo. The cabal does not want you (or any person) to do art and writing. They don't want humanity reflecting on itself. AI's whole purpose is so you turn your thinking, imagining, and contemplating over to them.

llaw555's avatar

Exactly. And that’s why I say—don’t comply. I think the second time I was locked out of X was when I posted on how children need to learn through writing and creating with their hands which is a direct line to their soul. That’s where it all happens!

It was in response to an interview with that jerk Zuckerberg who was discussing his vision of kids building without ever using materials or some nonsense.. we are not computers. He can’t possibly be human.

Suzanne O'Keeffe's avatar

yes, that's my working theory about the puppet masters ... they identify as gods, not humans.

Cindy Million's avatar

Your comment reminded me of the approach taken by Waldorf schools -- a lot of creating with their hands to feed their souls.

Steiner was accurate about a number of things. Our connection to nature and other species, trees included, is necessary to the evolution of humanity AND of ALL life forms on earth! These self loathing , humanity hating, egomaniacs ,need to leave our planet.

Every time I see a photo of Zuck my mind flashes an image of Data from the original Star Trek series.

Giving rise to a whole new meaning of "Bad Data."

llaw555's avatar

Wow! YES! Haha! However, Data is less homely.

Ever notice how these tech guys are truly creepy looking and have difficulty articulating their thoughts? Hm..maybe it’s the radiation from too much computer time.

AI steals art images and writing and has even broken copyright laws in doing so.

I go back and forth between Hal the computer from 2001 A Space Odyssey and the Lost in Space robot. Hal killed a guy; the robot was like a guard dog (danger Will Robertson!). Not crazy about either version. 🤖

I've made legitimate use of AI in art, using the site below

I don't need finished AI art.

Beginning with a sketch or image of mine or someone else,

and starting with mild change settings, I run/rerun it through the AI to coax alternate compositions. Comparing the results to my own, I incorporate the best aspects into my own finished art.

I prefer allowing my art, whether writing or painting, to lead me to my conclusion.

Garbage In, Garbage Out... everyone in computer science has known this for half a century. Grok (and the others) are Simulated Intelligence, not Artificial Intelligence.

SHug's avatar

"Garbage In, Garbage Out" - that was also my parent's warning to their reading obsessed child (me(. LOL!

John Wright's avatar

Were you reading "garbage"??? 🤣

David Resnick's avatar

This is the first time I’ve seen this take, and it is excellent!

Ah, perhaps I just have too many decades of experience dabbling with artificial stupidity. (real stupidity is bad enough)

Thanks, by the way, John, for the great quote! 👍

I thinks it’s hilarious precisely because it’s saying what you’re not supposed to say, based on thinking what you’re not supposed to think. The world could use more refreshingly offensive honesty.

Roberta Stack's avatar

Worrisome to me. What is the point of GROK? It seems like such a waste of time and resource. Once again, as the world gets crazier, I’m glad to be a senior citizen as I am engaging less and less in “the news.” I’m thankful for Jenna’s take on all this. I call it my “Jenna filter.”

Luke Warmwater's avatar

AI is a lot like Google. You just need to know how to ask the question. Poorly thought through questions lead to poorly constructed answers. It's not a mind reader, but many people treat it as such. This is where the "fear that AI will dumb down humanity" comes from. The dumber the question, the more arbitrary the answer. And if we get lazy and get conditioned that this is the norm, we might just dumb ourselves down. "Uh, Grok, where'd I set my Monster?"

Basically, since everything it "knows" is based on what humans "know", there's going to be a spectrum of output from total bs to incredibly helpful. In other words, ask it a question that relies on making sense of a bunch of political gossip and you're asking for trouble. Ask it a question about the proper syntax for a subroutine in a backend js file and you're going go consider it your new personal assistant.

There's a back issue that doesn't have to do with AI itself. It's humans. They tend to gravitate toward the easiest path. When you rely on social media, for instance, to build your view of reality, you're asking for a shit show. You're asking to be wrong all the time and confused as to why. Same with AI, except it's just a lot faster and talks to you in a nice voice.

I use AI all day long. But I have never asked it anything about politics. I don't plan on ever going down that rabbit hole. I don't ask it mundane questions where I know the answers are going to be based on busybody instagram posts. I'm a programmer. So I ask it very specific technical questions and have been able to increase my productivity by orders of magnitude. The key to keeping humanity from "dumbing down" is to keep humanity using our brains so they don't atrophy, and use AI ONLY as a technical reference. Once you start chatting with it about what's going on in the world, you're on the slippery slope. That's my two cents anyway.

Absolutely fabulous analysis and explanation. 👍👍

All the rave about AI is marketing. Egomaniacs trying to convince the world AI is a god when in fact it’s all collected human data.

OMG. I haven't laugh this hard for a while. Thank you. George Carlin's spirit is heehawing from another realm. GROK could be a stand up comic from the past, when people were less uptight and had a sense of humor.

Ellen Batchelor's avatar

I think it's hilarious but probably because I've never put much faith in it. To me Grok is just a search engine compiler and getting an off the rails response to my query gives me a laugh.

Bitsy54's avatar

GROK reminds me of my co worker’s autistic son….takes everything literally and answers with absolutely NO FILTER. Was GROK vaccinated 🤣🤣

Metta's avatar

Not surprising about the autism since a lot of these AI developers appear to be on the spectrum. (3 high-functioning aspies in my family)

Evelyne's avatar

I’m not at all surprised ~ I agree with what John Wright’s comment of “garbage in, garbage out”… quite honestly I do not understand nor at all see the point in “AI”. From what I can ascertain, it’s just another search engine dependent upon whatever and whomever programmed it. I mean, really? If you currently google the Covid jabs, you’ll still get all the mainstream info on why you had ought to get boosted and how safe and effective (ad nauseam) it is.

How people are using it to write books or articles and then calling it ‘their’ own work I don’t comprehend either. If you’re using it as reference material and including AI in the citations, I kinda get it. The fact that it spewed the same kind of “inappropriate sassiness” that’s all over “X” is no surprise either! Garbage In, Garbage Out!

Evelyne's avatar

*PS: I’m also onboard with Mary Ann Caton ~ I’ve gotten my education from good “old fashioned” textbooks! I’m so very grateful to be the age that I am, and not have to contend with computer technology more than I already have to.

Janet's avatar

I still remember term papers, index cards and footnotes. I seemed to learn quite well by reading and writing .

Evelyne's avatar

Yeppers! Me, too!

I truly wouldn’t have wanted it any other way, quite frankly!

Back in the day, nurses had to WRITE notes each and every shift on each patient in their care. If it wasn’t in writing it wasn’t done! Handwritten nursing notes are a thing of the past as well! (HANDWRITING is also becoming a thing of the past in some schools from what I understand… or how to read a clock with hands on it as opposed to digital readouts!)

I have as much difficulty wrapping my mind around that as I do computer technology LOLS!!!🤣

Warrior Mom's avatar

me three. back in the dawn of computing, when I was a college freshmen, we were carting around shoeboxes of keypunch cards... its a miracle we are STILL ALIVE, we are so fracking old, LMAO

My hubs was attending university of Illinois. I worked on campus. The computer there was an entire building. Part of my job was to type manuscripts for professors. 2 of them were working on coding. I spent a great deal of time typing pages of 0s and 1s. Drove me over the edge of proofreading. I Had no idea what they were up to.

crazy dinosaurs, we are, lol.

U of I, Champaign/Urbana? I went to Purdue Calumet, NW Indiana campus. relatively same neck of the woods ;)

RIGHT??!! I’ve literally switched my “learned science” for natural means wherever possible! Other than thinking I’m superwoman and necessitating having a left reverse shoulder replacement early tomorrow morning, I try to avoid allopathy whenever humanly possible! (Prayers for tomorrow gladly accepted and appreciated!🙏💗🤗) thank you!

Interesting technology for body muscle called TENS.

Amazon has it. Brings electricity for healing. I avoid any operations. Also as we get older we have more acidic ph.

Sodium Bicarboanate is good along with high dose of non coated aspirin. Totally safe.

Warrior Mom's avatar

Love my TENS unit. its not a particularly new technology either. I had one put on my C-section incision after my first son's birth in 1993.

Bard Joseph's avatar

The whole history in a book I am reading called We Are Electric. Fascinating and well written.

Vee's avatar

lol! This is the technology that is going to take over the world by storm. Hilarious, worrisome, terrifying, and so many other mixed feelings.

As a reminder, this is what big tech and the government are using to "DOGE" while simultaneously using it for psychological operations. Now Grok is going to be another punch line for those of us tin foil hat wearing anti-vaxxers that question mainstream narratives.

Me: These aren't wildfires. If it was, we wouldn't be seeing entire suburban neighborhoods and cars completely destroyed and melted while there are trees still standing.

My friends: Oh geez, did Grok tell you that?

Meanwhile, did you know that Palantir has been using all types of algorithms to track and kill people with hospital protocols? They are also supposedly responsible for analyzing whether or not Iran has nuclear capabilities. Now the bureaucracy can just blame the nebulous AI algorithms instead of the controllers of the AI platforms! How convenient. 🙄

Pretty funny really. It's early in the game so it's also good to learn these issues happen asap. I laughed at what Grok said of Elon's new party; nothing like being bitten by your own product lol. It's a fine line- what is truth that we dare not utter and only AI can, and what is just plain wrong.

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

Maybe if I understood AI, I’d be more interested or worried or frightened or maybe even traumatized. My understanding of the world came from books, not my phone. So.

CJ McKay's avatar

Well, I bypassed "Sort of hilarious" to chose "Other" (as Somewhat Amusing) - I should have stuck with Sort of hilarious! Seriously, self-dubbed MechaHitler, haha.

What actually chilled me in this incident, was that Grok actually responded to a comment from @[User A] to @[User B] .. even though there was no @Grok indicated. Wow, MechaHitler is really lookin' to stir up a fight!

hilarious.
