I go to Mexico regularly. I always get burned but I also always get a bit of heatstroke once or twice a trip. I surf. Out in the sun for too long and I get that heady feeling. Also I burn and when I am back in Canada I peel and lose my tan quickly.
Last two trips I decided not to use sun screen. I had been using less and less anyway. But I stopped entirely. 1. No burns. 2. No peeling after returning home. But…3. NO SUNSTROKE!! I never got that heady groggy ‘rats, I overdid it today’ feeling. I am theorizing the sun tan lotion stops sweating which causes internal heat to rise. The mild heat stroke I would always get was because my pores were clogged and I couldn’t sweat.
I live in Florida and I walk in the sun for about an hour each day. I stopped using the sun block a few years ago. I also ditched the sun glasses. I haven't burned since. My other new habits that seem to help is to go outside during sunrise and turn off blue screens at night.
i have made the complete switch to raw milk partially due to the wonderful family owned farm near me that treats it's cows like royalty and of course they are hormone and antibiotic free and grass fed. it doesn't hurt that they are also unwilling to ask exhorbitant prices for their products. since the change my acid reflux is gone, although it's not the only dietary change i've made. however i find myself much less willing to grab a latte when i'm out and about now. my homemade lattes using a stovetop stainless steel italian espresso machine (the kind you screw together) and warmed raw milk are better than any specialty coffee shop. and the milk bottles have cream on the top and are so delicious i must chug from them regularly. btw, jenna, love what you're doing here ~ thanks!
Ooh we're not far from each other! I get my milk from a little Amish farm in New Oxford. They sell milk, eggs, butter, cheese, and on weekends, baked goods. Their little store is just a shed with a cooler in it. :)

Maybe that's why I hate milk. Growing up as a kid, it gave me stomach cramps and later I had lactose intolerance. In my 20's that cleared up though, but probably because I hardly ever ate dairy at that point.

more sensitive to what they can eat and need than people imply. Ours ate the cord to a $2000 pool polaris vacuum. That was a haeckel of a way to find out they require a LOT of copper in their feed.
After I found Onion Creek Meat Goats website, I read quite a lot and became far more wise to them. After that, I was easy. The worst thing was on occasion, I had to give them vitamin B shots in their neck or hip. I didn’t love that aspect but otherwise, quite entertaining.
What happens if they don’t get the B shots? My neighbors 2 goats lived to incredibly old age and, don’t believe they ever gave the B shots. Though,one got a weird thing where her tung hung out and the vet did give her something that fixed it….

I am a 5th generation Cali native. Family came over in the 1850's. I have been gone for 35 years. I grew up there when it was the golden state. Great times and a beautiful state. My mom just passed and she was almost 98, so I have no reason to EVER go back there. I just can't stand it. Then again, I am super sensitive to all the things. Leaving there a month ago, in 110 degree heat, running the gauntlet through all the smoke from a fire near Montgomery Creek that covered the valley was very apocalyptic.

Sorry to take so long to reply, but did you have lactose intolerance or were you told it was that? Because I think that I have milk protein allergy, and that's why A2 and I can be friends, and butter is minimally reactive. But for most of my life I have been being told that I am lactose intolerant. And neither lactase nor lacto-free (puke) milk is tolerable.
I am an ideal candidate for trying raw milk, but again can't tolerate "normal" milk. So I am pinning all my hopes on A2 Raw.
I also have such a pathological hatred of medical establishments that the only tests I am prepared to do are postal, lol. Mind you, some of them are better than the hospital tests.

Last month marked the fourth anniversary of my being able to buy, and delightedly consume, RAW, whole, pastured Jersey milk. Oddly, during the same period. my desire to have yogurt, in the fridge, at all times, disappeared. Simply disappeared. The milk goes into me (drinking it as I type, in my coffee--which is at least one-half raw milk) and when it goes sour, it goes sour--it doesn't spoil, as does pasteurized milk. "Soured" pasteurized milk has to be thrown out. Soured raw milk either becomes a baked product, or becomes part of the fertilizer I make for my fruit trees, bushes, vegetables. I can buy raw milk because I live in Pennsylvania; but "my farmer" notes on his website that he cannot sell milk over state lines. Hoping that RFK Jr. will make the sale of raw milk legal in all 50 states. Imagine what that would do for the health of Americans! MAHA!!
I'm in PA too. I know in MD, you can't buy raw milk - it's marketed as "pet milk". I've heard of people crossing the state line to buy it here. Imagine having to cross state lines to buy something as basic as milk.

Taking a break from researching A2 Raw milk to say that Putz is a remarkably benign insult, (now I'm thinking about Quincy MD and longing for a Saturday free to mainline reruns from days of yore). I would have gone with something ruder.
I had lactose intolerance issues. But with raw milk from A2 cows not shot up with everything, my lactose intolerance is gone. Who knew! 🤔
Sorry to take so long to reply, but did you have lactose intolerance or were you told it was that? Because I think that I have milk protein allergy, and that's why A2 and I can be friends, and butter is minimally reactive. But for most of my life I have been being told that I am lactose intolerant. And neither lactase nor lacto-free (puke) milk is tolerable.
I am an ideal candidate for trying raw milk, but again can't tolerate "normal" milk. So I am pinning all my hopes on A2 Raw.
Years ago a doctor suggested I was lactose intolerant. Not real bad. So I tried raw milk and it went away.

Last month marked the fourth anniversary of my being able to buy, and delightedly consume, RAW, whole, pastured Jersey milk. Oddly, during the same period. my desire to have yogurt, in the fridge, at all times, disappeared. Simply disappeared. The milk goes into me (drinking it as I type, in my coffee--which is at least one-half raw milk) and when it goes sour, it goes sour--it doesn't spoil, as does pasteurized milk. "Soured" pasteurized milk has to be thrown out. Soured raw milk either becomes a baked product, or becomes part of the fertilizer I make for my fruit trees, bushes, vegetables. I can buy raw milk because I live in Pennsylvania; but "my farmer" notes on his website that he cannot sell milk over state lines. Hoping that RFK Jr. will make the sale of raw milk legal in all 50 states. Imagine what that would do for the health of Americans! MAHA!!
I'm in PA too. I know in MD, you can't buy raw milk - it's marketed as "pet milk". I've heard of people crossing the state line to buy it here. Imagine having to cross state lines to buy something as basic as milk.

And if you ask, yes, I absolutely consume raw milk and cream and yogurt. And by the way, eat beef from the same farmer who raises his cows only on grass and butchers them himself with his family, right there on the farm without traveling 1 mile. ( The Amish are amazing stewards of our food supply.) And my health has improved markedly since making the switch 4 years ago along with local produce and little to no processed food. And in case you were wondering, Weston A Price was a dentist at the beginning of the last century who took notice of the trend of growing tooth decay and decided to start a research project that became his life's work. He traveled the world comparing diets of indigenous populations comparing them to western diets and the results. Amazing reading. Ok...back to my locally raised eggs and bacon.

If you can shake a martini or a mason jar, you can make butter. It couldn’t be easier. We have made a few batches, starting way back when my three kiddos were reading Little House on the Prairie and Daniel Boone.
